A little funny?

you guys remember hooking up your first video game with those connectors?

my first PC was a texas instruments with a cassette tape backup... now we have ssdd drives with no moving parts in them!!

I don;t remember ever having an antenna other than rabbit ears that bolt into the top but yeah those connectors for Pong and Atari and even VHS players.
Video games had that little box too to switch from antenna to channel 3 where the screen showed the game but you also had to turn the tv knob to 3 on some TVs too. Like solving a puzzle to get to play a video game.

And if that little screw fell inside the slot? Fugetaboutit. Risk electrocution trying to fish that fucker out!

I got the belt one time for breaking a TV knob man! TV had mini vise grips on it after that. I turned it past it was supposed to go and broke the inside out. After that we could tell what channel it was on by where the vise grips pointed. At least I could hahaha!

To think now I have a 3D printer and could make that dang knob.🤬

Our first remote controlled TV [ beyond child labor] allowed the dogs tags on her collar changing channels.
Gods honest truth~! She shook her head and the channel would change.

those fist clicker remotes!! i remember those... thats where the word "clicker" came from

and yep tv's with a pair of needle nose pliers laying on top!!!!! hahaha had one of those back in the day!!

I had the same thing but under the Timex Sinclair brand. Remember the memory module upgrades used Velcro to stay in place. Lol
 
I heard a vicious rumour that Tesla is going to launch the first ever self driving cabs. In Texas of all places.

First they make an eyesore head office there and now they punish the city with this.IMG_2253.png

They've been here for a while doing beta testing but this was the hard launch. I think robocabs have been here going on 3 years now, maybe the 4th.
Teslas were limited by a geo fence but now the fence has expanded with the launch.

Tesla is one of at least 4 robo taxi companies operating in my city and I share the road with them all the time due to my commute route.
In fact, I'd say the number of driverless cars and those with drivers are around the same number on my commute there's so many of them. I see the gold cybercabs and waymos more than any others.
I don't really consider the Tesla to be a car. It's very small and is more like a little windowless pod that fits two people inside almost laying down.

So far TBH, I prefer them over humans behind the wheel. Clanker cars don't get drunk or have road rage and that's a huge issue in this city. Clankers obey every rule of the road and always signal too.
I can understand fearing the unknown but clankers are better drivers than probably 99% of humans out there.
The only problem I see with them is if they glitch and cause a road block. It's rare but happens and they go the speed limit so late night, lone cars on the road, I'm passing a lot of them doing 35 when they could push it up to 45 if they were human and wanted to get home quicker.
Most people have nothing to concern themselves with though. They'll only be in cities with entertainment districts and lots of tourism so major US cities and hot spot cites like Austin, Nashville, New Orleans, & Denver is where you find them.

i drove a 2026 this week that drove itself.. it was about a 3 hour drive mostly highway... i ain't gonna lie, i tried out the auto drive... lane assist mode and auto braking was really nice to have. if nothing goes wrong it make a good driver look like a great driver. but if something goes wrong and you're not paying attention like that guy on the autoban that was watching harry potter when his car drove right into a semi.. he wasn't ready for it to fail. but if you use it responsibly and as an aid i think it's pretty dang cool!!!

i set up for it to keep about 2-3 car lengths and when idiots cut me off and dove in front the car took care of the braking and i was a much calmer driver and made me feel safer. not sure if i actually was but it made me feel better about it.

windshield heads up displays are also pretty badass as i've recently learned!!!

All cars should have it.
No need to ever take your eyes off the road.
I got it in one car and absolutely love it.
Kind of like a seat belt IMO.
Something once used in one vehicle should be recognized and used in all.

i agree man, it was super convenient, i didn't have to look at the dashboard one time. and it even showed the posted speed limit next to the speedometer in the windshield. pretty cool stuff!!

a little bit tough to see with polarized sunglasses though... great for seeing fish in water but not display screens!!!

I had that feature in a car I rented last year. I was saying to my wife that the car tracks well thinking it was me being on the ball and a being a great driver. The next day I was driving up the highway and it started turning on its own around a curve and I realized that it was staying between the lines on its own. There was an indicator on my dash showing the car between 2 lines, when it was lit it was in auto drive, very cool its a drunk drivers dream car, no wandering auto breaking but hands had to be on the wheel or after 3-4 seconds it would kick out of auto drive, flash a warning and slow down. A very nice feature to use specially at night on strange or unfamiliar roads.

this one was the exact same way Pipes, showed two green lines when the steer assist was on. i could feel it pull in the steering wheel when it adjusted.

man i never thought about for drunks... damn thats even better than florida!! i always felt florida was the easiest to drive drunk because of all the reflectors they use. you can hear and feel as you get outside the lines.. i always called t driving by braille!!! hahaha

Our hwys have what we call a rumble strip at each edge. It’s like a tank tread that runs just outside the shoulder white line but still in tar.

A friend at the time used to text constantly while driving in the fast lane and let the strip warn him to correct his steering.

It was a leased fancy Lincoln model. He wondered why it was not steering properly, pulling to the left. Turns out he did it so often it fucked up the tread on the tire and screwed up his alignment. 🤦
