Hiya everybody. This round is a continuation of my last thread where I struggled to get seeds to sprout. I ended up throwing beans at the problem trying to figure out my issue. The issue? I believe it was narrowed down to oversaturated gro-plugs.

Either way... I threw some of my oldest seeds in the germ dome because I was tired of wasting pricey packs of good genetics. I dropped 10 Gelonade X Blueberry Cupcake seeds and got 4 keepers willing to get wet.

These seeds were on NASC's $2 dollar menu and were part of a Humbolt Seed Co phenohunt. I've seen some beautiful looking buds of this cross grown out so I'm excited. Really, I'm just excited to have some green back in the tent.

-------

Here's a couple lists of what I'll be using this round.

Equipment:
SpiderFarmer 5x5 tent
UnderCurrent 8 gallon 4-site system
CLW SolarSystem 1100 grow light
ACI Controller 69 pro
ACI 6" exhaust fan with refillable carbon filter
ACI 6" inline fan for intake from lung room
ACI CloudForge T7 humidifier
Vornado 1500w space heater
2x ACI CloudRay oscillating fans
2x BlueLab ph/ppm monitors
AquaticLife 4 stage RO/DI system
Active Aqua 1/10hp chiller
Alita 15 lpm air pump
General Hydroponics grow plugs

Nutrients:
Athena's Blended line
General Hydroponics RapidRooter
Plant Success Orca Liquid Mycorrhizae
Mr. Fulvic organic Fulvic Acid
0ppm RO/DI water

-------

The tent has been sitting at 85 degrees and 70% humidity since the seedlings were added. They've got their second set of true leaves coming in so I've dropped that down to 80 degrees with humidity sitting at 65%. I'll give it a week and drop the rH down to 60 where I'll leave it for most of the veg cycle.

Water content at the moment is just enough CaMg with Grow A and B to reach 150ppm with the pH right at 5.8 and the water level just touching the netpots. As easy as it was to weigh out the powdered nutes in my last grow, the mixing of the liquid nutes is so effortless that, depending on how the plants take it, I'll likely avoid going back to dry nutes.

I checked in this morning and WE'VE GOT ROOTS, so I dropped the water level an inch.

That's all for now, folks. Thanks for popping in. Feel free to ask some questions and/or dish out some advice. I'm pretty receptive and open to criticism. Wish me luck, dudes.

As always,

Can do like 85/70~ the whole veg

That's good too, if the 78 air, keeps the leaf temps around 77.

usually though, through transpiration and respiration the leaf surfaces will be 1-5degrees cooler.
Yeah. Last I checked they were 75-76 so I bumped up the tent to 78. That was a few days ago though. I'm gonna see how they react to this nute changed and go from there. I'll likely bump the light up to 12:15:30 if everything looks fine. I'll check those leaf temps again, then. Let em bush out a bit. They're gonna need topped soon.

Topped and trimmed. 24 days from sprout. Lots of growth this week so I gave them their first haircut. I didn't top a particular node. I just chose the highest one I could on the smallest plant, then chose the rest in a way that all the newest tops have the same amount of growth.

Thanks man! Yeah she had a blast! And she was super sweet in saying "mom's turn" as we were doing a drive-by. Melts dad's heart.

I have a subscription to Raven's brew and they mail me a bag every two weeks. It's 22 bucks a bag with delivery, but it beats a trip into town when I run out. Can't be running out

My only recommendation would be to play around with how fine/course you grind the beans. You can find your sweet spot. Most whole beans just end up with a better coffee so it's not terribly important which you get. I went with Raven's brew because of the Three Peckered Billy-goat dark blend. They had several dark roasts to choose from so they get my money for now. I haven't been disappointed.

You might be able to get a discount on your first bag with or without a subscription. I really like their Wicked Wolf, Deadman's Reach and Ebony Pearls.

sounds adorable man, treasured moments for sure!!! i learned on a little bike like that when i was little, learned two wheels with a motor before i did with pedals.

i've never tried that brand Ravens that i can remember of, i'll check it out!! i might get a brand i'm familiar with to compare the flavor. the grind times were a bit vague at best, the book or box doesn't say how long or any tips, the website shows this and thats all it mentions..

i have a drip style so i assume i'll start at 20sec and go from there... i also assume it all depends on just how many beans i use also determines how long to grind?

FAFO for sure.

Mine is a burr styled hand crank and it's a bit different from ones with blades. I adjust the depth of the burr to adjust the coarseness. I would assume to get finer grounds, you'd grind yours for longer? Use your normal amount of grounds, though. The bags usually have a recommendation of grams/cup.

what are the downsides of both too coarse and too fine? like if i go to coarse is it less flavor? and too fine would be sneaking through the filter?

Yeah sort of. Too fine will clog a filter, yes. It's also about acidity levels I think. Finer = more bitter. More coarse and it'll be lighter but you'll get more of the flavors that they advertise on the bags like fruit, chocolate and smoke.

Day 27 now.
Tent: 84°/60%
Water: 750ppm/5.8pH/72°p

They've recovered from the topping really well, although they're showing some droopiness. I recently bumped up the light so I bet that's it. I've backed it down a bit for now. Once they perk back up, I'll start raising the intensity again. Right now it's at 15r:30w:30b

Got a runt in the bunch also. Top left. She'll catch up when all those little roots hit the water.

I'll likely start tying them down this evening. I waited too long last time and snapped a few sprouts.

Happy Friday everybody ✌️

Last time I tied down with plant ties. Basically bread ties. I'm giving these velcro strips a go and, so far, I really like 'em.

Love that velcro stuff man!
I've been using it to tie down branches and tidy up wires and cables for a long time. I like how you can tear it and reuse it over and over. I no longer have a spool so now it's a jar of velcro bits I dip into when I need to tie something up. So much easier to use than wire!

Adjusted the ties. I'll likely have to do that again tonight since 3 of them got held down by the skinny stalk after the first node.

I'm enjoying a doob on the front porch, listening to the geese fly over. It's so damn beautiful out.
