So I have these blurple bestva lights bought from Amazon like six or seven years ago. I grow in a shed with a grow space of about 4’x8’ or so, maybe a little bigger. I am running four or five of these 1000watt lights. $300 a month power bill. There has to be better lights that are more efficient.

What should I run to fill a 4x8 space that is bright light and doesn’t kill me on the power bill? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Hi mate..I can’t really say what light you can run as Im not that clued in on spectrums but I’d say 2 quality leds ,say 630 watt power draw and an finned heater 1000w is what you only need…oh and a good dehuey..500+watt….so watts that ..2700 watts .say 3000 watts .time you add fans and inkbird s for eg..I only run my 1000watt finned heater on 350 450 watts 90% of the time only through winter..my bills abit over 400 at it’s worst every 3 months..summers away cheaper.I forgot to add there’s a 315 cmh light in veg going for a little while with a ceramic 150 watt heater.

4'x 8' ideally 2 650 watt LED's. Gavita 1700e, Fluence Spyder 2I, HLG Diablo.
AC
Dehumidifier
Heater for lights out only.
Fans to move air 2 say 12 at the base of the plants and 2 16" above the plants
Extraction Fan with filter 6" with speed controller
intake fan 6" with speed controller

How do you manage heat in a shed...you got to ac it? Leds would cut down on the heat coming from lighting big time

I insulated it. I only grow in the winter in there but do have an AC if needed. The LEDs heat the room and I have two envy wall heaters for when the lights go out. they are very energy efficient heaters.

Lots of good talk about California Light Works.
@Bandit420 and @CannaGranny rock them I believe.
There are many good choices, and I would research as thoroughly as possible to meet your requirements.

Currently, I am running spiderfarmer and mars hydro. Hate to say it, but they literally on the grow side are running neck and neck. Many have posted that MH is dangerous, main thing is to check all of your connections for tightness when you first get the light. Every single new light I have from them has come boxed with loose connections.

I am MH also.🤫
I will hazard a guess that more than 50% of the failure are operator error.
The cords and plugs need to have attention paid to them, like all lights I believe.

I have the same light as you. One of the Bestva Blurple lights. They're not bad for light output but they do put out some heat.

I have a 5 x 5 with the blurple and Bestva's white light LED. I'd like to graduate to bar style lights so I'll probably go with the Medic Grow Smart 8. It has enough power for me to be able to run CO2 in the tent if I wanted to. It has pre set veg/flower light spectrums and a timer built in so no need for extra digital timers.

Check out the site. Two of their Fold 6's would be a good lighting scheme for a 4 x 8.

If you have the knowledge then I would say go with a light that you can program the light spectrum you want for the specific stage of growth that you are at like from California Light Works. They've been doing programmable spectrum lighting for many years now.

I cover that same footprint with 1350 watts of LED at max power. But the three CLW lights I bought even with discount codes was nearly a $2000 investment.
But over time they have paid for themselves in yields and power savings. And that's the common trade off when switching from HID to LED. HID is less expensive up front but costs more in the long run while LED is opposite with the high upfront cost and low cost to operate. And if you get LED that are adjustable so you don't really hit max power until early flower, they're even more budget friendly on the power bill savings.
I'd say my lights increase my power bill by around $35-$50/month at max power. Veg cost at half power is maybe $15-$20/month. I also run mine during off peak hours for a better utility rate

Yeah I’m same .running off peak is like killing 2 birds with one stone.better to run lights of a nite and off through the day.my power bill would b huuuge if I didnt.
