Wrapping my head around what I'm working with.

Interesting dry coco/perlite is at 19% moisture. Active water brings it too 100% then seconds later and drained, only 45% then holds there as it dries back down to 20%.

Initial run off ppm is well over 1000ppm. Second wash only 350. Base was 200 so it seems FoxFarm's Cream of the Crop requires at least one rinse thru before planting.

pH , very interesting and I may not need to adjust.
Water going in was at 7.5 and on exit, 5.0. Second and 3rd wash only came back up to 5.5. Very likely that if I mix my nutes with the base of 9.0 and water at that range then it will be adjusted by the coco/perlite to around 6.5

I do love the look of the CotC blend though. It's drain speed is as fast if not faster than Xfinity mobile internet.
Starting to lean heavy into this idea of running coco/perlite hempy.

so when you say hempy buckets are you speaking in the traditional happy bucket that comes to my mind or is there something more specific other than a bucket with a hole?

While we're on it, I'll also say the 5 Ethos sprouts were in contention for most robust along with the Vietnamese 3 way. Two strains from big cannabis doing exactly what I want and expect from big cannabis seed companies. Cant complain at all there and it's not all horrible with Ethos
100% on everything from Growers Choice as well but I did break one Hindu Kush head when I fumbled it.

Flushed the media 3x times with filtered water then flushed once more with mild nute solution and planted my sprouts.



Using a Gen3 CLW SolarSystem 275 VEG with no controller but is plugged into a UIS plug and being turned off and on but not dimmed by the AC Infinity AI controller.
Ionbeam UV and white supplements are ready but I'm a couple weeks away from needing to turn those on.



After this first week of babying them along I may try out the flood and drain and do that for watering if they don't float when flooded.
If I can do that then yeah I'll let the moisture probe control irrigation and see how it goes.

Interesting notes on the Cream of the Crop blend.
When watering, the probe shoots up to 100% and falls down to 44% when it's drained off. I can water again and same thing, goes up and settles back down to 44% in seconds. No matter how many times I flush, it always settles back down to 44% give or take a couple % marks for varying bags but overall, 44%.
It's nearly impossible to over water unless this stuff is sitting in water.
So it looks like it's gonna be a routine of daily watering keeping it up around that 44% and knowing the dry mark is in the upper 20% range.

Feels like I'm already out of my slow and wonky start slump of hitting around 50% and half those coming up mutant.

I'm liking what I'm seeing from the sprouts only a few hours in. They seem to wanna get after it, already fixed on the light and opening up cotyledons wide.

I can see using it at the end but it's weird they want people to use it mid grow. Kinda tells me the chart is heavy feeding dosage if you need that stuff so soon.
I also have a bottle of Clear Rez by Ez Clone which is for salt build up. I wonder if the two are the same thing?

I did a little gear swapping while I was on vacation and grabbed that 275. Unloaded a ton of ACI stuff like controllers and cables along with some other gear then bought this light, a pH doser, and a line of hydro nutes with the sale moneys.

It's been a very bad Summer for me and soils man. So bad that FedEx didn't even deliver a bag because of damage during delivery. How do you even damage soil in shipping but here we are.
A few bags of Roots were so poorly mixed there will still chunks of intact coir brick in the dirt.
Grabbed a bag of local "ultimate mix" and the shit not only had rocks but fucking boulders in it the size of baseballs.
Coast of Maine? Mushrooms and a mangled plastic bag in Stonington and a bag of seed starter full of bugs.
And to top it off, anything I tried to fix any of it made things worse.
This is all the Ganja Gods way of saying "Broham, do that thing you do in coco again, you know you want to and have been subconsciously prepping for it." And I was like "You know what holy god of green danky goodness, you're right. Fuck this peat, Fuck this forest compost, lets do it!"
So instead of blending hydro into my organics, I'm gonna blend some organics into my hydro.
Hempy buckets and earthbox hydro dude! Let's ride!

Just at the end... I believe it's enzyme based for soil for releasing the salt like you say. Back when I was feeding heavy.

I almost used the FF flush like my chart says but always stay on the lighter side of feeding so I did not purchase or use.
I think it is sledgehammer for soil.
Less can be more. I ran pretty close to their schedule for soil this last grow and have had no issues.
Just noticed that 3 or 4 out of 20 pots have mushrooms in them now.
They didn't until last week I believe.
COM raised bed mix is what was used.
Never had shrooms before, wonder what happened?

i'm pretty sure WWT or illinois is a smaller flat track, kinda like martinsville but wider and faster. but more like a paperclip shape.

the half oval is the modified Charlette track they call the ROVAL i think.. when they forst raced there i was like WOW what an awesome track, then they built austins tracks and that just blows the roval away imo.. they should just drop the roval.

I'm still finding my way thru the tracks so I know which is which and not getting them mixed up.

And to top it off, anything I tried to fix any of it made things worse.

Yeah I wanna say the 17 was penalized the week after Briscoe got penalized at Daytona but then won on appeal. I know it was before COTA and was still February when it happened.

I've never been so conflicted heading into college football. I'm not as deep into it as I used to be with a Rivals account and following all the recruiting and stuff, but will always bleed blue and gold. I've have a deep well of dislike for Dick Rod and can't believe he went from being unwelcome in the state of WV to being rehired as head coach. So, the excitement for the season has a bit of a cloud around it for me. Hopefully, that'll lessen as things get going. My Eers are one of those teams who often break your heart, but when they over achieve it's beautiful.

The mushrooms are not all that bad and actually common, in lesser soils. Seeing them in premium soil was like WTH guys?
I think all they signal is there's still lots of composting activity happening, maybe soil being used before it's actually ready, a sort of undercooked but not too bad.
My major issue was that we're growing herb we smoke and if those shrooms open, that can lead to spores on the buds which we smoke.
Cool if it's tomatoes then we can wash it off but those yellow shrooms had me thinking about washing my buds if any opened on me.
I pluck when they're pinheads and don't eat. They're not poison but will give an upset tummy.

the half oval is the modified Charlette track they call the ROVAL i think.. when they forst raced there i was like WOW what an awesome track, then they built austins tracks and that just blows the roval away imo.. they should just drop the roval.

I'm climbing again in that damn thing thanks to SVG giving me two wins! I was second to last at one point and now I've driven up thru the field to 4th or 5th. Pretty soon you'll be hearing my chrome horn and better believe I'll punt your ass into the wall when I get there!!!

I would like to dim it but that's really not needed for such a small light. Raising it a few inches is just as good as dimming and the fucker is only like 200 watts so not like dimming down to 150 is gonna save the day on the utility bill. So in all, it's fine with just basic timing control the UIS plug offers plus it's on a winch so raising and lowering is super ez.
In fact today I saw seedlings stretching a bit so I lowered it. I really doubt this light could ever over stress plant at a reasonable height.
This one is different from what I sent you. These have red, white, and blue. Some red are removed and changed out for blue and whites so you get a veg only spectrum. Best way to describe it would be half the 2nd gen 550 I sent you but with fewer reds and a handful more of blues and whites in their place.
I'm giving it some extra bells and whistles and bumping up it's horsepower here with UV-A and extra whites





I also have the small ACI Ionboard light so I pretty much have this CLW pitted against that ACI in a steel cage death match. The winner gets to live in the carport tent and the loser gets shamed on the internet then fed to the hogs.

Yeah man spoiler alert...Earthboxes are hempys!!!
It's the same container but different application of medium.
Earthbox uses a moisture wicking media with a strip of dry nutes while hempy uses a moisture repelling media and liquid nutes.
EB is bottom watered while hempy is top.
Both can intermingle with organics so long as it's not fish or manure based.
So like for the hempy and using coco/perlite in a 50/50 blend w/ liquid hydro nutes, I can also add 5% crab meal to that mix.
I could also probably add some castings and get it very close to soil and work like soil but it would be a soilless media and unlike soil, require watering daily if not more often. It's soil without dirt really, removing the compost and peat and being left with a pH neutral & inert medium but castings would give it some spice.

I have some other add ons like precharging coco chips with macro and calmag nutes and another idea using a precharge coco mat as a watering diffuser and perhaps neem soak for bug prevention. Both of these would just add a little extra something to the buffet and be washed down with watering.
Coco is like the dancing bear of media where there's a ton of shit you can do with it. Add in the perlite and it's so customizable the possibilities are almost endless.
Irrigation can be hand, drip rings, spaghetti lines etc in a hempy and with these probes, could likely be automated.

I'm thinking 3 hempy options here.
I have four earthbox tubs which could each hold two indicas.
A collection of 3.5 gallon buckets I need to get into one place and know exactly how many. Each of these could hold one indica.
I have several tall 7 gallon buckets and these would be for sativas and that big ass root system to drive down deep.

Now it's a matter of fit on the two tables, maxing out space between all those options so I still have to figure out that plan.

Some of this was actually being planned for next years veggie garden but I'm super excited about it so gonna jump into it with the indoor cannabis.

I subscribe to 247/7 and it's pretty much like Rivals but comes with free Paramount+ and Showtime streaming channels.
Man, I think every team out there has broken more hearts than they can count. That misery is what makes winning so fun.
The more things change the more they stay the same seems to be the theme at WVU. Never known in the Big12 though. Seems every year it's up for grabs and once in the playoffs, anything can happen!

Of everything with soil I'd say foreign objects get to me the most. I've found a broken tip from a lawnmower blade, rocks, nails, plastic bags, Mtn Dew can and more in expensive bags of soil.
Coco bricks still intact is super bad because that means it was not washed or hydrated, It pretty much came right off the beach in Sri Lanka and was put in that bag so that clump will have a ppm of around 1500 of pure sea salt. That clump is about the size of a gold ball. Then I find about 50+ of those clumps. That soil is so loaded with sea salt it's pretty much a plant killer and I have the dead plants to prove it lol.
If they don't prep coco I'm sure they do even less when it comes to compost and peat.

Bugs are usually always either gnats or springtails and sometimes something worse but those are most common. I expect them in $10 soil but not $40 soil.
It's not just with soils though as there's a ton of not giving a fuck in the world right now. It seems not many really give a damn about the job they do anymore. Some of this with soil shouldn't even happen if they sift the ingredients but I guess they don't do that anymore.

I tell ya man, I love this city! I can't say I love city life but I love THIS city life if that makes sense and especially this zip code.
It's very liberal here and has become something of a haven for a gay community, techy youngsters w/ money, young families along with a few of the old cowboy hippies (me) still here.

I love it but also troll the fuck out if with things like my flags. I find many of the liberal symbol flags confusing and don't know what they mean half the time. Trump flags are jsut to get a rise out of people. So I fly the nascar flags just to add that extra WTF is going on here and maybe some realize we're all being weird about the flag thing. I'll get weird too and fly 6 of them like it's the fucking UN out there.
Most of my neighbors drive Teslas so I'm the guy with a runs on recycled dinosaurs sticker on a lifted truck. There's a Beware of attack armadillo sign out front too. I just fuck with everybody around me!
I've gotten to know many since our dogs have decided we all need to meet and they know I'm very welcoming and friendly but they know I'm gonna fuck with them a little bit and make them laugh at themselves if they have it in them to do so. They do the same and give me shit about Texas football.
They also look up to me because I and two other guys on this street can tell them about their home and property. We know the routine of seasons and how this city works so when you have neighbors coming from Boston and LA and everywhere in between they'll lean on us for help. And being Texan, we always give it no matter who they are or how they look.
Couple years ago I pulled a total Dad move for a young goth girl it was so funny. The apartment complex parking had a film of ice on it and she kept pinning out her Honda trying to go. She was on the verge of tears and had on the goth stuff so yeah, running eye make up, black clothes all wet and cold etc. Embarrassed, wanted to disappear kind of body language as well. I made a point to see her for her and past all that and told her to hold tight while I take my dogs back home and come back with some kitty litter to help you out.
She looked at me like I was insane.
Came back with the kitty litter and put some in front of her tires and showed how it will giver her enough grip to get off the slope of ice. You'd think she won the lottery with how happy she got when it worked. + she learned something for next time and said she'd keep a bag of litter in the trunk. Our two worlds never would've met if not for ice and we each maybe learned something there.

Ran a floater test today and the bags passed with an A+!
So forget about hand watering for now. I'm watering everybody at once with flood and drain.
Got lucky on the barrel too because there's only like an inch to spare in headroom under the tables so this was one inch away from not being possible

I need to go back and review what you did to address the bags floating on you.

Didn't do too much other than
I cut the flow down by half so the water didn't rise too fast and set flood depth kinda shallow with another riser I can still add for more depth but before that, lifting the bags I had a feeling they may just sit there and not float around and they did.
I'm sure hand watering several times before flooding helped a lot to settle them in. Flooding dry bags woulda definitely caused some floaters and made a huge mess.
Makes everything a ton easier compared to hand watering each bag and dumping a waste bucket

Yeah man spoiler alert...Earthboxes are hempys!!!
It's the same container but different application of medium.
Earthbox uses a moisture wicking media with a strip of dry nutes while hempy uses a moisture repelling media and liquid nutes.
EB is bottom watered while hempy is top.
Both can intermingle with organics so long as it's not fish or manure based.
So like for the hempy and using coco/perlite in a 50/50 blend w/ liquid hydro nutes, I can also add 5% crab meal to that mix.
I could also probably add some castings and get it very close to soil and work like soil but it would be a soilless media and unlike soil, require watering daily if not more often. It's soil without dirt really, removing the compost and peat and being left with a pH neutral & inert medium but castings would give it some spice.

so will you do like a halo type thing? is it a constant feed, or will you have it on a timer like your flood n drain?

I have some other add ons like precharging coco chips with macro and calmag nutes and another idea using a precharge coco mat as a watering diffuser and perhaps neem soak for bug prevention. Both of these would just add a little extra something to the buffet and be washed down with watering.
Coco is like the dancing bear of media where there's a ton of shit you can do with it. Add in the perlite and it's so customizable the possibilities are almost endless.
Irrigation can be hand, drip rings, spaghetti lines etc in a hempy and with these probes, could likely be automated.

I'm thinking 3 hempy options here.
I have four earthbox tubs which could each hold two indicas.
A collection of 3.5 gallon buckets I need to get into one place and know exactly how many. Each of these could hold one indica.
I have several tall 7 gallon buckets and these would be for sativas and that big ass root system to drive down deep.

It's the Osram diodes in CLW that put's it above others, especially in veg. More overall biomass in the plant and roots compared to all other lights I've put it against. It's only issue is that it's blurple and somewhere along the line some light pimp said blurple is bad, white is good. Maybe on paper.
Even Troy and I were talking about that a while back how people will pass a great blurple light to use a subpar white light.
The ACI grows a plant yes. The CLW just grows a better plant. Sorry Samsung, facts are facts.

I've been looking over options to flood and drain to the end but keep coming back to hempys.
I'll use my F&D rez full of a weekly nute supply and water in using my pump and hand water wand.
For hempy you just water until it comes out the hole in the side but I could rig something up with sensors and halos if wanted later. For now, the sensors will just take notes as I work manual options.
Been thinking about kicking the AI on as well but don't really need it or even want it.
One problem and it's a good one to have is that 100% germination and zero mutants showing, not even a single Can't Get Right, has given me well over the 12 plants I wanted. I've got 20 here and it looks like all 20 are keepers so far.

Got more to post and pics of supplies I've rounded up when I get some more time...TBC....

sweet!!! i didn't even want to ask because i just figured you'd be working at night.. i assumed a couple weeks before opening day and you'd be swamped.. very cool you get to see it!!! gonna be some awesome incar racing!!!!!! you know what else i am so happy for with Max, we can pause and play the scanner with incar and time it right up to the tv.. the incar is always ahead of the tv by a few minutes so when the spotter says "green green green all rolling here" i pause the incar on max. then i wait for the tv guys to say green flag in the air and hit play on max.

so today it was another hot one here and i was wearing my fav horns shirt and i held a door open for a guy and he says "go horns" i think i'm now part of the club now because without even skipping a beat i replied "hook em" hahahaha i walked in the door shaking my head at myself!!!! haha

I am so so so happy running this coco hydro so far man! The plan is also becoming more and more clear.
Fabric bags inside hempy buckets with bioballs. Pretty much redoing hempy and fixing a couple PITA things about them.
Added in my two fave things about organics a couple days ago...crab tea and mycos and both are working great with the hydro stuff.

Yeah genetics lol. I'll be sticking with Growers Choice for a spell. Maybe dance a little with Great Lakes Genetics.
I'm alreadys set for the next round of seeds with the Strawberry Cough and Montana Silvertip and I plan on a clone run of these Vietnamese 3 ways.
I'm buying seeds as I go, no longer stocking packs on top of packs and am dropping whole packs at a time, so maybe in 9 months I shop some more but that's what's in the que

My crop is one week old in the coco/perlite as of today.
I'm gonna keep the rez as is then do a wholesale change next weekend and also turn on the UV and white so one more week in this seedling stage then onto treating them like young plants by this time next week.



Getting my loot in one spot so I know what I have and most important, don't have.
I have a past in hydro so I know from that when you come across these things you don't pass on them.
There's a stack of 3.5s there plus another five or so in other spots between here and work.
Also a couple 7s shown here. I may have two more but at least one more for certain.
These two stacks of buckets are like hydro system gold and knew one day they'd come into play.
Also, these pumps I've saved from hand sanitizers I'm pretty sure will fit my nute bottles for ez draw and measuring and that other pump, IDK but sure I'll use it for something.
I'll draw a diagram on paint to describe what my hempys will look like
