What causes an abundance of males plants in seeds? The inner webs said environment but these plants are happy. Jager regular seeds, started with sixteen or seventeen hoping for eight females and so far I have one female and tossed about seven males. Still waiting for the rest to show. Could this be genetics

I don't know of any real reason but in my experience with regulars the males are often early/quicker than females to show when flipped to cycle.
Females take longer for some strange reason to identify themselves sometimes.
Lets just hope you have got your7 or 8 males and hope the rest are female.
Look more for male signs then female signs since if the female is slower, it won't be noticeable as early as with males.

Extensive males from seeds can be from poor breeding and choice of parents, high nitrogen nutrients, overly moist medium, low light in flowering....there are a few things I've heard over the years. Can't attest to any of them though.
This has happened twice in my many years of growing. I think it is genetic or I would be having this issue all the time.

Only twice over many years: Could it just be a "luck of the draw" type thing? Like, only a couple of high male events (one, if females show with your remaining plants) over many grows implies has nothing to do with your process. Could it be that the odds just aren't in your favor one in a blue moon? I hope the remaining 8 are females 🍀.

Used to know a guy that only grew males and selected for certain traits.....stored the pollen which he would trade at the local farmers market for very dear goods........Wish i had a decent set up where i could grow them without worry of cross contaminating id love to collect male pollens. Im not a big fem seed lover if im honest.
