I used to order coffee online in the mid 2000. Now I only get what I can find locally. $15 a bag is about our limit. Dark roast seems to be our preference.

my local choices for beans is terrible. everything is ground.. i'd have to go to a different store. my choices are my local store which is like five minutes from my house. there are two more of those exact same stores within 20 minutes and the next closest of a different brand is over 30 minutes each way. and i drive really fast!!! the gas prices alone make it not worth it for me.

i paid lardera like three something for shipping.. comes out of jersey.. got my coffee today already!!!! there is no way on the planet my 18 mpg car can drive an hour and me taking up time to go to another store and get coffee for $11 a pound,,, i really like to support local bizz every chance i get but some things they just make it impossible to afford..

the bourbon washed was everything i was hoping it would be... it's my new fav!!!!! haha

We drive in a circle each week or two hitting 4-6 different grocery store chains. My wife has a system.🙄

I have horrible luck buying online going back to CPUs on eBay in the 90’s. Everything from damaged to not what was advertised.

Do what works for you. I buy local more for being able to inspect items and I hate waiting. Plus returns are at my leisure. If my online experience ever improves I’ll use it more often.

All the good sales are gone for now. They had a bunch of ground beans for $9.99 a bag so we grabbed one of our favourites but that’s it, Kick Ass.

I need a boost today…

oh no way i ain't doing that.. one store is good enough, if they don't have it then oh well. i mean there are special cases and all but for the most part nah, my local store is five minutes away.

She goes to the furthest first, maybe 15 minutes or less. Then we stop off on the way back.

She gets the meat and higher quality stuff on sale at two stores like Loblaws, and ONLY stuff on sale. Then the rest are for stuff she wants that’s on sale at the cheaper stores like No Frills.

Sometimes. Usually by smell. But I find you get more grinding yourself and it keeps fresh much longer while bean. I fall in/out of love with coffee so it’s got to keep well until I feel like it again. Wife and son rarely make fresh coffee since getting the pod coffee maker. I don’t like the taste from the pod coffee even after trying different brands.

oh thats not bad at all man... for some reason i was thinking you were driving all over kingdom come, if thats all it takes to make her happy with shopping then hell yeah!!

if we gotta go to a different store my woman gets cranky.. the traffic, the people.. she's like can you drop me off at home and go yourself? hahaha

i'm gonna have to finish off that bag of smart ass. only good thing is our bags are a lot smaller.. you get pounds. they sell em to us in 10oz. same price and all though!! bastards!!!
but the bags don't reseal so it's gonna go stale if i don't drink it. hahaha

j/k it won't go stale... i normally stash my day to day beans in an old tiny size folgers container. seals great and easy to use.. one scoop and i'm good to go!!

If it's not at Costco or HEB it's safe to assume that product does not or no longer exists is my motto.
Sometimes my wife will be like, let's go to the Costco 30 miles down the road they might have another version but I've convinced her them same truck delivers to both stores so it's all the same.
I've even told her a place burned down one time to avoid driving across town hahaha! She realized I was messing with her so now she never believes me when I say a store burned down or went out of business.

Have you tried any of that Nestle instant evil abomination? Hehehe. It's sneaky good for an instant and now my wife has caught on and draining my jar.

i have been drinking it man.. prolly not the way your supposed to though!! so i go all in on the nestle with it and all in on the powder... it's my late night pick me up!!!!
i put in one tablespoon of each of these three and pour 6oz of hot milk over top and then hit it with a frother for a few seconds.. kinda like a rich mocha chino.

She loves to shop…for almost anything. She never makes a list either. She walks the hole store every trip looking for sales and buys what she wants it thinks we need.

I look for what I want online or in fliers. Then I go straight to that store and just get what I need and head home. She hates shopping with me. Lol

Until recently I used to skip the last store, No Frills, and get dropped off with the groceries while she continued. These days I go for the exercise.

I would have warned you but you already had it coming for delivery. I was hoping you had a better experience.

We haven’t bought Folgers in a long time. But I still have a half dozen containers I use for different jobs. They even keep paint for a while if you check on them once a year or so.

We have the normal Costco about 15 minutes away but we have a Business Costco even closer. It’s more for restaurants and hospitality industry but we get different items from them. I load up on honey and the higher end noodle soups.

We have a lot of big box stores so can pick or choose what to buy at each store. Rarely are things the same price store to store. Even at these gas prices it still pays off. Last week we got a high end dog kibble for 75% off at the Loblaws store. I grabbed the last 5-6 bags. It’s twice the quality of the one we normally buy.

If the distance was greater or it wasn’t a lazy loop I wouldn’t bother but it pays off with her method.
 
Haven't visited in a while, but I may have found my favorite beans from my Kitty Town subscription.

It's called Thuthan's Ethiopian Sidoma. It's a light roast that gets roasted with the fruit still on the beans. It has a great, smooth flavor that has a bit of a blueberry cover. It's been fantastic so far. Fruity and smooth like a realll dark tea.

It's expanded my perspective a bit. Light roasts are no longer off the table.
 
Coffee prices have stayed up the last month or more. Same bags go on sale for $21 rather than $15 now. We still have a few bags from the last sale but won’t be buying more until it drops again.

same here from what i noticed. i see sales for a buck or two lower but no big sales in a quite a few weeks. glad i stocked up!!!!!

I've been keeping a tab on tariff price increases. IDK how, but wouldn't be surprised if there was a ripple effect in the USA that effect Canada pricing.
Basically tariffs are a moving target. Coffee and tea were one of the first and it was global. The prices went up then later the tariffs were lowered on all except for Brazil but coffee and tea companies kept the prices high.
All coffee and tea except for that from Brazil should be back to normal pricing but the companies are keeping the prices high for profits.
This pretty much happens with every tariff which people adjust to and will pay because of the demand. Companies seize the chance and keep prices high after the tariff is pulled because consumers have already proven they're willing to pay that higher price. Being addictive caffeine, they're pretty much compelled by addiction to pay it as well.

On my tea alone, a box of tea costs $1.78 before Trump and before his trade wars
During the trade war the price increased to $2.58. Then to $2.98 where it's been even though the tariff on the country supplying the tea has been lifted.
There was supposed to be a rebate to US consumers but looks like the tariff money actually went to the Trump family and after the tariffs the extra profits have gone to CEOs and company boards. No issues with supply or demand, just greed by governments and company CEOs.
My wife's coffee was already expensive at $48 for about 10lbs and now it's around $70 but she's been willing to try less expensive brands and buy in bulk
 
companies keep raising prices and we keep paying it. thats the reason things are so expensive, just the simple fact because we the spineless humans buckle in a pay it. if we all saids nope, coffee is too much i won't buy it, then the prices would come down.

i really wish we as society could stand up to the things that are really important.

Most things we wait for sales, then buy enough to make it to the next sale. We found the coffee on sale for $17 so bought two of our fav. They still got $2 a bag more out of us. 😞

Hadn’t had coffee in weeks. Too hot. This week is back to normal so I made a special batch for wifey. She likes a shot of espresso in her coffee these days so I’ve added a bit of espresso beans to the regular coffee we grind. She says it tastes right and really enjoys it.

i couldn't drink it in the heat either man. but i also didn't go without, i just waited till later in the day to drink it when it cooled off!! hahahaha

sure is nice having the temps back in order right?... i think sunday night was our turn around, since then it's been the most gorgeous weather and this is why i fell in love with this area right here right now!!! forecast looks like we get this wave for at least the rest of this month.

last night i turned on the whole house fan and sucked cool air from the outside basement doors up through the house and out the attic. plants loved it, nice cool dry air pulling through!! got it so cool in the house my woman put a sweatshirt on!!!! haha

its awesome sleeping weather.... till 445 when the birds wake up anyway.. haha

the commercial came up on my tv and played the song in my ear just a minute after i posted that.. it was a little freaky!!! haahaha

not too hot for me.. i'm still having one. if i warm my insides up maybe my outsides will feel cooler!!! hehe you like my thinking??? hahaha

I’ve been back to tea this week. Wife and son do coffee daily after work but with kpods. I’m not a pod fan.

Peruvian is usually a favorite but the one I got this year was the worst of the 8 types I tried. I thought my roasting skills were out of practice after buying pre-roasted coffee for a few years, but it was the beans. Your post might be for a better grade than I bought though. I'm really enjoying Brazil and Honduras this year.
 
Brazil and Honduras have been the most consistent for me lately too. The difference between batches can be huge, though. Do you remember where the disappointing Peruvian beans came from, or what roast level you used?
 
I roast to a medium dark roast level. I don't know where it came from. It was part of a bundle which they changed, and they also dropped the offending beans and now only have 1 Peruvian so they may have had complaints on that one. I suspect it wasn't a good year for Peru. It's amazing how much region, soil and weather affect the flavor..
 
I live near the airport and have been seeing F1 747 team haulers flying in for the American Grand Prix this week so I'm going international Texican for my highly sophisticated instant java 😋
