Coffee

i like having a variety as well!!! depending on the mood kinda thing!!
Yea, multiple choice is always good. I try to finish a bag before opening another.

I’m not enjoying the 454 as much. Has that slight bitter tang at the end of each sip. Son and wife like it though. Haven’t tried the grizzly yet but I might tomorrow. I did buy more if the Kick Ass, still my fav for this brand.

i've found that if it's a quality bean they don't get bitter with fine grinds...
I’m fussy about food and drink. Even quality items don’t always agree with me. I have a strong sense of smell which can make trying some things difficult.

it was a foggy morning the other day.. scooped the beans out and dumped them in the maker without grinding them first.. i knew i forgot something!! hahaha
Now that I haven’t done, yet.

OH this is way doable for me... i'd try that!!! for some reason i read somewhere that said it was necessary to "preheat" the carafe by pouring (wasting) boiling water through it first then load it up with grounds and proceed.. that kinda just bugged me so i never looked into it any further. but if you just grind, dump, and go.. i can handle that. don't mind a 20 minute coffee, just mind 20 minutes of full attention to make a cup of coffee!!
If you can make tea you can do this. You just grind to your taste first. You’ll need to experiment between water and beans but it only takes a few times to get it.

i grind to finest setting it has.. i think it's a 2.. i think i couldn't got that fine with press, correct? it needs to be a little coarser yeah?
My grinder is just a hand held, no settings or level marks. I just know where to fill it too from past use.

The finer you go the more chance of micro particles getting past the mesh. I find you don’t have to go that fine but my grinder gives me a mix. I have a ritual where I shake and grind three or four times like I’m making a martini.

I save some of the beans and let it dry out for the worms. I give them some of the left over vaped weed too. Not just sand or egg shells.

Good morning! Off to the playground to do my dead hangs after i have this luscious cup of coffee. Im gonna search for these 2oz bags! Seem perfect to samples for finding new profiles to examine

Same here, that's why I love those little 2 oz sample bags!

As I was prepping the espresso I'm currenjoying I noticed I have seven of them open right now 🤷🏻🤦🏻🤣

🐸☕
Unfortunately the days of grocery stores letting you grind samples is gone. Maybe one might still have a grinding machine but I doubt it.

They have only one or two good coffee vendors and the next best thing is Starbucks before the usual brands. The good vendors only have the approximately 1litre bags of beans or the smaller pre ground beans. I stopped ordering coffee online over two decades ago.

One of my first childhood memories is the old A&P Supermarket in our town where my mom used to shop, they had a big machine at checkout and I used to love to watch them grind the 8 o'clock coffee!

same here.. A&P.. had a salvation army box out front and my mom used to tell me thats where she bought me for fifty cents and got ripped off!! i was little so i believed her.. hahaha

Quick coffee story: I measured out my .4 oz of beans for a cappuccino and put them in my grinder, inserted my portafilter and hit the power button and the coffee's coming out, and coming out, and coming out...

It goes way over the top of the portafilter and is still coming out!? I eventually hit the stop button, but I have no idea where all the extra coffee came from?

Yesterday was so busy that at some point I must have measured out beans for an espresso or cappuccino, put them in the grinder and forgot about them 🤷🏻

Anyway I stood there laughing (I laugh at myself a lot because I accidentally do funny shit sometimes) plus now I have another shot ready to go for later on! ☕🐸

Ya, we had A&P up here too. They lasted up north for a long time even when gone in the cities. Last one I knew about got bought out around 2010.

The other one that was still in the city was Dominion. It got bought out by Metro a few years ago. They might still have the grinder in the isle.

My grandfather would take me with him to get beans at both stores. He’d get me to take the bag to the grinder and do the grind. Silly things that keep kids happy and involved. You could smell the coffee from halfway across the store.

Good times.

Is this the guy that used to travel to various coffee growing regions with a cameraman and he would purchase from small farms for his small coffee company in the US ?

There are third party add-ons that let you DL YT vids but you’d have to host them somewhere else then link to it.
