DTE No Longer Carrying Insect Frass, Organic Replacement Recommendations...Please

So, I went to purchase some Black Fly Frass from DTE, but they dropped the skew.

Any Organic replacement recommendations?

I don't know if ordering is an option or how their prices compare with your normal source, but I purchased insect frass through Boogie Brew, last year. Theirs may be from soldier flies. It was my first experience with compost teas and I included the frass with other stuff they offer. Are you using it for the chitin content? I'm no authority, but how about crab or shrimp meal?

I'm going to follow along and see what recommendations others here offer up. Good luck!

Yes, for chitin and fertilizer. And I meant sku...lol.

I haven't researched a detail comparison between frass and shrimp/crab meal, but went with crab meal chitin content to feed the microbes, this year. Just more readily available than for me. There's bound to be differences in uptake and other fertilization values, though.

I haven’t been able to find dte frass either. Makes sense now.

About a month ago I bought some frass from Amazon. I think it turned out to be mealworms frass.

Smells similar but not As strongly chocolaty.

I’m using it, I figured chitin is chitin. I don’t know if the plants agree.

So many reports of eggs in the meal worm frass.
I dont personally know this though.
