But hard to imagine a life without electricity. Hell a lot of us wouldn't even be here without technology. I know I'm a wonder of medical science lol.

But what about AI?

When do the machines own us?

Assuming the robot takeover is imminent, what do you do? Find a helmet? 🪂

I often think that while criminally insane, Ted Kaczynski was correct in his assessment of our technology both saving us and at a core level also our doom. It's built into the system that perpetual exponential growth cannot continue on a finite planet, and therefore must change course, or die like bacteria running out of sugar in a petri dish. Society built on technology that exploits natural resources to allow exponential population growth (the non-fossil fuel carrying capacity of the earth is 1B humans.) is doomed to be corrected. The math is not in question. Parts of what that crazy certified genius said were very predictive of where we find ourselves standing today.

Enter AI. Clearly one of the great filters in the Fermi Paradox.

Shit, I gotta quit smoking this Durban poison.

I have no idea but i love your petri dish analogy

Def will happen when the government or bad guys let it

Let them plug you into the Matrix bro, ignorance is bliss.

I thought this was gonna be about OLED tvs or something lol.
My foreman and one of the funniest people I know always starts emails to me with an off the wall subject line. You just never know what you are getting yourself into until you open the email.

Examples:

Juicy - you gotta see this:
Email about a pipe leaking in the shop.

The higher, the fewer:
lights need replacement in the warehouse

Scrkonking:
The AC unit is making a terrible noise, it may be mating season for compressors.

The list goes on.
He gets my sense of humor.

“As for the negative consequences of eliminating industrial society — well, you can’t eat your cake and have it too — to gain one thing you have to sacrifice another.”
I actually read the manifesto.
I don't understand his aggression or actions [ no one should be able to explain the thoughts or actions of a madman], but I agree with much of his thoughts accessing society.
I grew up 4 blocks from his brother who turned him in.

It’s a pickle. No doubt. Either way we lose without some deus ex machina like cold fusion and warp drive to get us off the planet. There are plenty of resources out there we just don’t have access to them.

Where the unabomber may be wrong is that tech advances might outpace resource consumption and it is still possible we have a Star Trek future as mankind.

It’s conceivable we could heal the planet with access to unlimited non polluting energy like fusion. We could suck carbon out of the atmosphere and stop adding it if we had fusion.

Often a fine line between being gifted and cursed. Almost like the higher the degree to which people are able to comprehend reality, the less comfort they generally find in it.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention~!
I am grateful to be attentive but often find I wish I did not see or notice what I did. :cautious:

We have to be harmonic with nature with our technology.

Nature has laid it all out.

For example, Stars - nuclear fusion.

We just need to pay attention and figure out how to make/mimic the same thing with our tech.
