In the middle of a generac generator install here. Finished the pad for it a few days ago. I’m running 120 feet of 5/8” gas-tec line around the house next for propane supply. Then I’ll land the generator on the pad for electrical hookup and final gas connection. Should be done around first part of November. That’s my target anyway.

You might wonder why the gas line mounted to house and ran through conduit……..ever tried digging a 1 foot deep trench for 120 feet on a mountain? Me neither, lol. I ain’t doing it. I already know there are boulders in the ground.

Can you give the specs on your unit. Was Seriously thinking about getting one, then it appeared installation was more than the unit itself? Way over $10k for me, but my house has 400 amp service.

i'm curious on what size you chose as well?

any idea on how often they do their periodic check run for? or for how long?

are the generac brands quiet?

I bought this kit for $7,600 before it became back ordered. If purchased before November 3rd and installed by January 12th 2025 you get a 7 year warranty. Standard is 5. I’ll qualify for 7 year.

See post above. They also have 400 amp service ATS. Those might be in stock. Didn’t look. Mine is 200 amp. I also bought a smart load manager for an additional $150. It’s pretty much plug and play. I can prioritize what is shed automatically if I max that 26kw generator. Without it the transfer switch will just shed by itself indiscriminately.

Who is going to install it and how much are they charging you?

The 5 yr. vs 7 yr. warranty is a game Generac plays, trying to get more sales. Fact is, these are like HVAC systems- they are made to last a long time. Service is very rare if you are handy.

I’m doing this myself.

Gas line is in. Leak testing now at 30 psi. There are two 90 degree fittings on the line. No leaks. Inspection is next. Then land the generator on the pad and make final gas connection. After that it’s all electrical work.
