Just curious about a few things. Who uses cannabis for medical reasons? Does it help you?
Pros of it? Cons of it?
Would you recommend cannabis as an alternative to opioids?
What have you found to be the most helpful strain for your condition?

Not a med carder for sure but I do use it for anxiety/depression/ADHD. My aunt who is a medical professional (nurse) told my mom I was just self medicating when my mom was discouraged by my usage in my younger days.

The best for me are indica leaning strains to kind of chill me back and put me in my lane. This stuff I grew seems real 50/50 to me...picks me up a little but can also help me pass out when I am tired. So that's cool. Seems like a true hybrid in my mind but I'll know more this next harvest. It has inspired me to try more sativa as I'm just getting shit done on this stuff so maybe sativa is more my thing than I thought

I love it all truth be told. It all does the trick to some extent

I use if for arthritis pain and inflammation. Does it help? Maybe a little- I wish it worked better. Acid dog is probably my best strain, but it all works. I think the industry marketers totally exaggerate the difference in effect of diff strains. Its either good or it's not.

It's like rooster sauce on food. I use it for everything 😋
OG Kush indica dominant family of strains are my go-tos but every now and then I like a good spazzed out haze or a Durban. Strawberry Cough too but I refuse to grow it

When i lived in Maine i had a med card.
But it was as easy as going to the dispensary on a certain day and paying the 112 dollars or whatever it was.

I have bad merves in my back, adhd, depression, and im bipolar.
So i smoke for all that nonsense because its better than the pills they had me on. Sativas are my preference but indicas are what really helps get the pain down.
So i try to smoke sativa during the day and indicas at night to help me mellow out and sleep.
A nice 50/50 hybrid is all around great for me too, keeps the pain down but keeps me up and going as well

I stopped taking the oxys and only smoke now, dabs seem to help a lot as well!
I havent noticed if a particular strain that does more than another, so i have no input there.

I like others use it for everything from anxiety, to back pain ( bunch of bulging disc ) and to sleep and just to be happy ! 😃
Concentrate prolly sativa and alit of it is the best for pain and of course a good indica at nite - and basically whatever my little brain calls for .

Prolly over medicated ! lol I’m high so much I don’t really get high , if that makes any sense

My pros and cons on smoking.

Pro’s I feel better, motivated, energetic helps with my arthritis in my ankle. Back pains. Helps me sleep.

Con’s The munchies and naps, cost.

On a serious note. I don’t smoke to cure anger, frustration. I had to fix those issues myself. I simple couldn’t enjoy the pleasantries of smoking when I felt it was tied to my mental state. I had to learn patience, understanding and forgiveness. Now I smoke to enjoy it not use it as a crutch.

I was pretty sure I was using it as a crutch for many years. Then I quit for about 3 months. I still felt high every day.

I'm with you on the anger and aggression. Had to fix those issues separately. I ate a gram of mushrooms everyday for a month. Dealing with apprentices at work while in that mindset really allowed me to to mellow out.

Now, I'm like you. I smoke because I like to smoke. I like the flavors, the pastime, the social aspect of it. The high is just a plus.

Yep!
When asked why i never use my 400 dollar mighty + vaporizer, my response is always im a smoker, i just like to smoke!
I have an erig here and there are days id rather torch a banger and dab old-school cause the erig just isnt the same as hitting a dab off a torched banger.
Lol

Lol

I do like the vapes. Dabs not so much. Just seems like the taste stays in your mouth forever. Plus it just rips your head off. I used to use 1.5 or Zig Zags but started hating the way the paper tasted. Now I love just the smoke of a bowl hit.

Yep. The hardest thing to learn is letting things go. Upset with the wife, smoke. Wife upset with me smoke. Frustrated at work, smoke. I was smoking a lot to deal with the issues. But not actually dealing with the problems. Always forgive and forget. Work it out. Bring peace to yourself and others. Then enjoy a nice smoke.

I use it for pain/nerve damage issues.
I prefer sativa strains, they help with allowing me to be able to forget about the pain.

It doesn’t block pain the way opioid pain meds do, but it seems highly effective and not addicting.

However, recently I’ve been battling skull crushing headaches, it doesn’t help at all there!

You are so high you couldn't crawl under a pregnant ant wearing a stovepipe hat, isn't that the truth.

Lol
Man.. I intentionally break off the bowl to my bangers and use them like a nectar collector. It was a happy little accident when I learned that trick.

It heats up much quicker. Cools off quicker for that low temp dab. And the big plus.. just glob a days worth onto some silicone and rip it. No more fumbling with a tool and the portion control is on point. No more handing your buddy a dab that they can't handle and will likely get wasted. They can take as big or small of a dab as they please. All around badass.

I tried avoiding opioids with RSO. It worked well for a couple of years. The downside is I developed a tolerance of sorts to all edibles. I now can take 1000mg of RSO and have zero effects except some gastrointestinal issues. So now I just smoke. It sucks as I love edibles. Heavy kush worked for a while then I had to switch to sativas for effect. Now nothing edibles. So keep that in mind. I used it daily for two years to develop that “tolerance” or whatever. So I suggest not using it daily.

Here are a couple of things it did for me:

1. When I was young (0 - mid 20s) I had allergies that could give me asthma. The Colombian of the time would open my lungs almost instantly.
2. I have a pinched nerve in my ankle that occasionally gives me issues. I took a CBD gummy to see if it would help for arthritis. It did nothing for arthritis, but the pain from the pinched nerve was gone for over a year. When it comes back, I take another CBD gummy and it's gone for another year or two.

Here's something it did for a family member undergoing chemo: It instantly eliminated the nausea. My brother gave her a Pax vape, I gave her an indica, a sativa and a hybrid. She said all worked equally as well. A few draws and she was fine.

I avoid opioids period. Don’t and won’t take them. After my ankle surgery they put me on 7.5 Hydrocodone. They did help with the pain almost immediately. Like a warm rush washing over your body. Took them for a couple months. Then I started taking 2 so 15 ml grams. A month after that I started feeling sick when I wasn’t taken them. I automatically noticed an addiction developing. I stopped taking them that instant. My wife asked what are you going to do about the pain? I told her I’d deal with.

Thanks Guys!
I’m doing research on terpenes. I started this about five years ago looking for effective medicine to help my Daughter with seizures. Today, she is basically seizure free. I learned quickly from the Stanley Brothers that cannabis rich in linalool was the ticket.
Another thing I am asked about continually is effective pain meds. The answer to this also lies in the terps. I have also found that an 80-20 mix the most effective for that. 80% indica, 20% sativa.
Here’s a nice chart on those pain terps. There are six main ones. Find these in an 80/20 mix and you will get effective pain control.

Yeah I’m so screwed up I have to take opioids. I’m on Percocet right now. I’ve been on hydrocodone and Hydromorphone. They don’t get me high, just some pain relief. Also I’m on Pregabalin for nerve pain and and anti depressant that helps with pain. And I smoke all day long. And I have a spinal cord stimulator. My life is just pain it sucks. But I’m blessed with a good family and God. And lots of herb…

I have a friend that has a pain pump. They fill it with hydromorphone. Currently there is a shortage happening of that drug and her pain doctor/pharmacy can’t get it! I know this is something you can’t just step down or quit.

That’s the one drug that absolutely didn’t work for me. No pain relief. The other stuff works better for me.

Rice papers are the best. They're usually my first choice

Before I had my hips replaced I was 11 years in pain waiting. I'd wake at night with electric shocks running down my leg. If I got up and had a smoke the pain / shock was gone...almost instantly but it was short lived relief. It was enough to get me back into bed resting and hopefully sleeping.

I ended up completely disabled and unable to obtain or grow weed so I went onto Hydromorphone, after a few years of that with increasing dosages they added the fentanyl patch which looped me right out. Hips replaced no more pain instantly, 1 month to get off the drugs and growing again within a few months of that.

Weeds good for level 5-6-7 pain, after that they have to get stronger to help.

Been there done that got that exact same T-shirt.

Be back to this on big keyboard
For Me:

Pros: Can completely Change my mood, for the better, feeling some anger or negative energy/thoughts, i can go smoke a bowl to help "reel" my self back in.
2 many stimulants? smoke some weed to bring you back down.
tripping balls? take a bong rip to level it up, lmao.

Cons: completely slow you down and fuck with ones memory.
cognitive impairment to a degree, besides tolerances.

a lot more to add but my mind went blank, lol.
