Seems like I blinked for a minute, and next thing I know, newbie growers are buying named, popular strains from slick, hack pollen-chuckers with names like Crop King, Pacific Seeds and ILGM.

I have nothing against pollen-chucking, but no one should sell pollen-chucked seeds that haven't been tested. Seems like many can't even keep their supply of auto seeds separated from their photos.

Got burned by a newbie seed seller last year on Skittlez. Nothing but mutant trash.
I've just gone back to breeders who's seeds I've grown with success in the past or have been around 10 years or more and am very reluctant to venture outside that circle.
Bodhi would probably be the only breeder I'd have no issue buying something untested because of what he works with. But he started something that other hacks have jumped into and it's made trusting new breeders difficult

I was getting annoyed with the ā€œfree seeds just pay shippingā€ scams.

I cost me less than $10 to send 15 seeds to a bud. He sent half to a mutual friend for $1.

I can’t help everyone but a bud or good person, I’ll step up if I can.

Sadly it’s to much work and trouble trying to keep a free bank. Plus you need to trust the sources.

I think I'm done buying seeds. It seems like they usually ain't any better than my home made pollen chucked seeds. I just make a few seeds on most plants and keep the ones from the best buds. If I grow 2-3 females and they are all good, I keep the seeds.

I can probably stop buying seeds and still have enough to last me the rest of my life, but I also know that when I'm on my deathbed, the mail will come in and whoever got it will say, "There seems to be something for you. Seeds? Are you fucking kidding me? What's the flowering time on these babies, five minutes?"

I know for a fact i will NEVER go to ILGM ever again. I got 60 autos from them, like 16 didnt pop, 2 were male, like 6 were straight herms. They gave me a coupon code to get 15 seeds free, but ilgm is still a shitty company at its best.

I’ve never heard anything good about their seeds but found they had some good advice when google searching.

Same for THCF. No one ever posted them that I saw on the seed recommendation threads. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

To be fair I wasn’t really looking.

The Farm was once a site where we could get rare and hard to find cuts direct from breeders like Bodhi, DJ Short and more. It was like seriously THE site for the best genetics. Everything was legit and it was such a score because there were not many banks around and there were very few legal states at the time.
A lot of those guys left when instagram became a thing. IG changed forum participation for good. It was just easier to tag them on IG and do it that way but the Farm also changed too, becoming more commercialized and reliant on sponsorships that had nothing to do with seeds. At the same time some really good banks came online and now what the Farm offers is wonky at best and kinda shady. Some of the strains I see there have not been in breeder catalogs for years so they're either super old seeds or just old ad pages that were never updated

I clicked on a variety in the store and instead of going to a site that sold that variety, it went to Herbie's Seeds.

I know a lot of guys sent logic seeds on consignment and then never got paid...so I think its a twofold issue - one-but not updating stock he gets to keep saying I sell X Y Z breeder for his reputation/clout, while also, breeders are hardly going to recommend a bank that stiffed them on payment, so stock just sits there.
