using years old 5 gallon buckets

i got some older 5 gallon buckets i wanted to cut the rim off and use like you see on you tube
i have some older 5 gallon buckets that had everything from sand to old metal sitting in it would it be ok to use these bucket rims if i washed them off ?

Should be unless they contained chemicals

if they contained any chemicals would be years ago before they got here
plus i got the bubble bags that vinyl or something on the side and mesh bottom nothing would ever touch the old bucket

Chemicals can leach. But I guess you use what’s available.

If you’re lucky you can get used food grade buckets and pales from restaurant chains. Some round others square. Only issue is usually white. My kids worked at Tim’s a while back and brought some home for storage. Nice for grains and pasta.
