A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

Weather reports say we are 3 inches short of rain for last month~!
Hope everyone gets even without having to have rain every weekend for 26 weeks like last fall/spring.

So Tomatoes were a month late and they ripened in an odd manner, and we already have Frost Warnings for tomorrow morning! The weather is so screwed up, I wonder why? 🤔

Got a lot of tomatoes to process tomorrow, well it's today now, got about three or four times what's in the picture to do.

Finally going to get some use out of that new 23 quart Presto that I've never used since I bought it back in 23, the spring it rained for almost a month straight and the gardens sucked, then last year I didn't have enough to can because I freeze until I can't fit anymore in, and I gave a lot to my neighbor too. But this year the freezer's already full.

My late first wife taught me to can back in the 80's, and I used to sterilize medium for growing shroom's when I was following the Dead in the 90s, but I haven't used a pressure canner since, and they are a bit intimidating.

I've never used one on an electric stove which I'm not the biggest fan of to begin with, but I have the manual that came with the Presto and an Amish book on canning that I'm going to cram through this morning, so hopefully I won't blow myself up! 😂🤣😂

The party of peace, love and acceptance strikes again...

The Fatigue Is Real.

Rest in peace Charlie Kirk

Party?

It might not be worth much, but I'm going to share my off-the-cuff thoughts on this, anyway. There's no justification—political or otherwise—for the murder of Charlie Kirk. It was wrong, full stop.

Like damned near every murder that makes the national news, odds are we'll learn the shooter was mentally unstable or driven by some warped ideology (still mental illness, in my book). This wasn’t some party conspiracy—it was the action of a disturbed individual.

I'm sure there will be scores of people who try to use this tragedy to score political points or push conspiracy theories. That kind of response will be dangerous and as nearly as screwed up as the act itself. Celebrating this murder is wrong. Politicizing it is wrong.

I pretty much ignored Charlie Kirk. I didn't agree with him and viewed him as someone who thrived on feeding division and misinformation to people who eat up that kind of garbage. That didn't make me want to kill him. Disagreement doesn't justify murder. Anyone cheering this is part of the problem. Anyone trying to politicize it is part of the problem.

America is spiraling. I don't know of an easy fix, but the solution won’t come from conspiracy theories or blind loyalty to political parties. Fixing our education system has to be part of it. There's no excuse for America's education ranking below so much of the rest of the world. That takes time. And it'll probably require long-term grassroots work to rebuild a system or new party that works for the people instead of bowing to money.

It’s tempting to tune out and hermit up into whatever little bubble we create to ride out our remaining days in. That doesn't fix the political rot that us GenXers and Boomers allowed to happen. We like to blame shit on the young. The younger generations didn’t create this mess. They’re inheriting it from us. We need to accept responsibility and demand better.

Killing Charlie Kirk was wrong... period.

"I pretty much ignored Charlie Kirk. I didn't agree with him and viewed him as someone who thrived on feeding division and misinformation"

The buzzwords "Division and misinformation" have apparently become the new definition for 'truths we don't like'

Although I've never heard a dozen words in a row from Charlie Kirk before his assassination, as his politics are not mine, division between people like Charlie Kirk and the people on the other side couldn't be big enough, let me be clear about that;

This is not left vs. right politics, this is good vs. evil.

And why should upright, moral people want unity with evil?

Which side is actually a threat to "our democracy", the side that still embraces free speech, or the side that attacks people for speaking freely?

Who are the real fascists?
The people burning down cities, assaulting & murdering people for holding opinions they don't like would have you believe fascists are people like Charlie Kirk, indeed people who embrace the same principles & values this country was founded on and has been built on for the last 250 years are now the fascists, standing in the way of their woke, socialist
agenda.

Sadly many people are so brainwashed by the unceasing lies from the mockingbird media that they've come to believe the propaganda. Talk about not being able to see the forest for the trees!

By the way, before one buys the lone-wolf 'Disturbed individual' rhetoric, this conspiracy rivals the Kennedy assassination in scope, and crosses party lines and other boundaries.

Much of that information is already out there, but you won't hear it from the mockingbird media, you'll have to do your own research, unfortunately that's something very few bother to do anymore.

Almost 3" since 4pm. yesterday! 🥳
This will definitely get me over the hump, I hope it helps my neighbors as well, some of them haven't had water for weeksView attachment 113060
We got 6mm so far this month and not much more last month. I’ve been filling the closest rain barrel with tap water. And I thought last year was bad. 😞

Exactly the same thing here. As soon as they start turning red/orange I’ve started plucking them and brining them in to finish. Rabbits and squirrels have started eating things too.

My uncles and grandparents were into canning but my mom wanted nothing to do with it. I remember the pressure cooker and it’s locking handles and big gage but I’ve never used one. With the way life’s turned I wish I’d paid more attention to canning.

You dont need to pressure can tomatoes. Hot water canner is enough, if you add a tablespoon spoon of lemon juice per court. I can give you more details if you need them.save the pressure canning g for green beans and potatoes
