One_bell here, newbie and need advice on RDWC and auto's for 2nd run

You didn’t post pics but when you said the roots fell off I figured you were getting ready to pick new seeds.

You think they are gonna make it?

I honestly dont know but they are still growing so I want to give it a shot anyway.

I took out the res water and changed it with a H2O2 mix ph 5.9 to rinse the system for 20 minutes. After that I took the water out and inserted the new nutrient mix. Started with RO adding H2O2, adding calmag until achieving 180 ppm and add micro, grow and bloom from there(ppm 420 x700), ph'ed at 5.8 I can slowly let it rise. I hope they will survive now....fingers crossed

The rootball of the right plant is still attached to the plant and looks a bit brighter then previous days.

I used the same ratio of my preflower schedule to up the ppm from 180 to 420ppm (X700)

Go ahead and remove any and all dead plant matter. Leaves, roots, entire branches if needed.

Then look close at all the leaves that look bad. You can’t afford to remove any plant matter that will aid in recovery but you also don’t want to waste plant resources on leaves that are too far gone. Not too much removal or do it a little each day and see how they respond. You need more green solar panels to build buds so concentrate on what you can save and hopefully see some new replacement growth. If you do that means you are back on track and it won’t hurt to watch it. If they continue to decline I’m afraid you are wasting time and should get seeds going.

What is the light? Regardless what it is back it off either with a dimmer or more space.

Focus on a perfect environment. It’ll help you next grow to get this dialed in now. Temp and rh are relative to your conditions. What is your air temp high and low and your humidity? Keep in mind temps will go down with dimming the lights.

What is your temp and rh control if any?

Do you have a blower thru charcoal? I assume you are exhausting into a lung room. Please explain all that. What are your lung room conditions if using one.

I believe your res temps are low last I looked. How is that controlled?

What is the situation with bubbling?

In order for plants to thrive in RDWC (if your expectation / reason for RDWC is max growth) you need to take complete control root zone and atmosphere in conjunction with correct lighting at that plant stage. That really is the point of hydro anyway- removing limits to growth. It’s a study in horticulture to get good at this.

There are some tools you should get if you don’t have them. If you do post the data.

Accurate temp and rh sensor that stays in the tent. I like SensorPush.​

That VPD at the bottom is the engine that drives plant respiration and transpiration. It’s kinda like your bmi. It’s a blunt instrument but puts you on the fairway.

I believe you said you are starting with RO water.

Getting those data points we will dial you in. You will want this before your next grow anyhow even if we can’t save this pair.

You got more seeds handy? If not time to plan out the germination what is your process for getting seeds wet? What seeds? Hint hint go photoperiod fems. Germ asap.

Even if you completely recover this grow we can clone the best of what germinates to give you plenty of time on this grow. Cloning is an important skill but can be done easily if done correctly and anyone but goodshit can talk you thru that lol.

Take your time to reply we will read it. The more info you give all in one post the more likely the experts will help you.

The RDwC setup is in a 1mx1m tent, ACI inline fan 6", charcoal filter venting out of the room (through the roof), so not back into the lungroom. Also got an ACI humidifier and heater, 2 6" oscilating fans. All ACI equipment is hooked up to an ACI Ai+ controller. EC/ph en temp are measured and logged 24/7 by a Bluelab Guardian Wifi, for mixing nutes I am using a Apera pen that can read ec/ph/tds and temp.
The small room itself has an split unit airco that keeps daytime around 25C, night time 18-20C. Humidity is around 55-65%, VPD is around 1.0-1.4.
For the RDWC I am using a chiller that keeps the liquids at 18C. Also upgraded the airpump by times 3, and also using three airstones instead of one.

Lights are Mars Hydro FC-4800evo with the four Adlights they offer (Blue during veg, IR/UV/DeepRed during flower), I am using the PPFD Meter app with the bluetooth UNI-T UT383BT wireless lux meter. Don't need an defuser with that device. I measure from the top of the canopy and keep the lights 36cm away like MH describes. Currently around 570-600PPFD.

I am using ph down to mix the nutrient mix to the desired pH.

I’m digging the aci. Good choice.

All sounds good.

Dim the light to maybe 50% for a couple days.

I’d bring that chiller temp up to 21-22.

Exhausting outside is hard on your house hvac system. Something to keep in mind.

Fans may be a bit much especially once you remove the dead leaves.

Let’s see some recovery!

PPM's dropped to 370 this morning (from 420). Should I add another dose of H2O2 to the reservoir?

Not yet, still doubting between a few strains. Still got three seeds left of lemon cherry cookies by fastbuds, GG4 by Zamnesia or ordering some new F1 orion's. The taste of the latter is awesome, despite the grow went shitty.

Also, I would think about sprouting some seeds just for a backup. As always, I know shite, NEVER take anything I say as good advice, let alone heed it :)

Yeah mentioned that about a week ago. And the seeds too.

Decaying plant matter needs to be out of the growspace and not just for new growth focus. Airflow, pests, mold, and even ethylene production

I've been keeping a close eye on everything adding H2O2 every three days. I am doing a res change, should I change to full bloom nutrient regime?
 
Glad to see the update! I like to see ur grow, it's informative to my grow and probably others who r learning hydro. The new roots on the left look WAY better!
Day 60? is that since they sprouted?

I also am having issues, can't maintain ph, just keeps dropping .5 a day :( I'm 44 days into flip and about 2-3 weeks from chopping, just hoping to bring em across the finish line.

Thanks! Just keep hanging in there, just like I am doing. Did you try a reservoir change and following Percy's chart?

I am still doubting what I should grow next lol.

Yeah, I did on the 17th after noticing the downward trend for a week or 2, and just did another on the 30th. I'll have to Google what that chart is.

Why the doubt? Of my 2 grows, my 1st was a disaster cuz of genetics? I dunno, get seeds from a reputable source if u think that's the issue. Or do u believe ur issues were from lack of sterilization/bennies? I had a plan for my next grow but it changed after seeing @Driver77 grow. Gonna do 2 supafreak, a first lady, and a fryday boof. Was just gonna do the last 2 but had to try out the supafreak. Check out his freak grow, really crazy looking ladies!

I move to bloom nutes immediately following stretch. During stretch is when I do a "transition" res that's lighter on the P and K. I start that as soon as I flip and then a full res change to bloom nutes, vacuuming out the plant-sites to remove all the "transition" nutes to ensure my ratios are where I want 'em.

It looks like you're there and could make the switch to a bloom ratio, starting a bit higher ppm and then tapering off as the nugs start to really ripen.

How long have you been on a 12/12 light schedule?

Driver is correct, they are autoflowers and I am using 18/6 schedule. Vacuum out the buckets is a good idea, what kind of equipment do you use?

I use my milwaukee shopvac. I gotta dump it 3 or 4 times but it's pretty simple.

I just lift my lids and slide it as far over as I can. If I can't get all the water without sucking up some roots also, the water stays.
 
So another update, the left plants seems to come a live a bit and the right one seems to die off unfortunately...

I have changed the res again, hopefully the buds on the left one will swell a bit. Next round I will go back to the RQS F1 Orion's I think.. I really want this view back of luscious green:

If you compare the tops from the pic of the second of june (one week ago) you will notice some grow on the tops, more dense, hope this will continue.
