Coffee

This is a great day for iced coffee, and I've got some homemade coffee ice cream left, maybe I'll blend up some kind of a frozen concoction later 🍹😋
My son grabbed us some Tim’s Ice Caps. Nice treat. I always kind of laugh to myself when we get iced coffee or tea drinks. As a kid we always tossed out cold coffee and tea. Now it’s $5. 🤣

That sounds good! I used to get those Duncan Frappuccinos down the beach all the time, they were good too

I don't know what I made yesterday but it was icy cold and there was a lot of booze in it 🧉😋

Beachwalker, what kind of grinder do you use? a spinner, or burr?

any chance that you've used both?

i use a spinner and recently Grumpazz got a new burr and the notes in it say a burr has a better taste than a spinner... no he's got that stuck in my head dammit!!! hahaha

Yes when my spinner died I decided to up my coffee game a little and I bought this Tuni and I have no complaints with it, would buy again

You can dial in a grind, whereas a spinner just basically gives you what it gives youScreenshot_20250813_115101_Chrome.jpg

That's a box of good right there!
I'm going to make a French roast cappuccino right now, I always enjoy one about this time of night ☕🐸

i caved in and ordered a conical burr grinder... should be here tomorrow!

i guess i'll use the old one for my weed!! haha

Nice you're going to love it! I ended up having a yellow honey this is some damn good coffee man!

The other kind of grinder is still great for grinding up oats, grains, nuts and things

the yellow honey is one of my favorites. i'm having some right now actually.

i drank double today, trying out the new grinder!!! hehe

How'd you like the grinder?
it's really nice so far, no problems at all, other than there are a lot of settings and i'll have to try each one to see where i like it the best! haha
it didn't come with a brush even though it said it did, not a big deal i have others. the anti static catch works really well, no grounds cling at all.

it;s a lot quieter than my blade spinner. today i had a yellow honey and a french roast with it and they were both great cups. not sure if t was just in my head or not but they did taste a little better than what i'm used to, a little less bitter.

Giving this company a shot. I've been trying to find another subscription to try out because I'm annoyed that mine doesn't offer the 2 pound bags in some of my favorite blends.

I'm terribly indecisive when I'm faced with what seems to be endless choices so my wife said I should try this one out. Every bag feeds a cat. How bout that?

I grabbed their dark roast variety pack for $50 bucks. Pricey, I know. But they all seem to be heading that way.

Sipping on Simba's blend right now. Normally, I would've strayed away from anything labeled licorice but I was really curious so I tried it first...

Unique to say the least. I can actually catch a grapey sweetness to it. Needs a stronger nose on it but otherwise not bad, honestly.

I grind my beans as fine as I can. This one is very subtle. Little to no bitterness with an almost berry hint to it. Grape? Maybe. Sweet? Absolutely. I kinda dig it so far. I'll stick to this bag for now, instead of opening up another. What I've found out so far is that, no matter the brand, stale beans/grounds fuckin' suck.

This is a good, all around smooth coffee. I didn't catch the brown sugar or nutty notes on my first pot, but the smoke really came through. I might start seeing the sweeter nuttiness after a few pots but coming off of the bag of Sumatra, it doesn't get anywhere close to that level of sweetness.

2 for 2 on the Kitty Town Coffee. I may start me up a subscription. 2lb bags are 34 bucks shipped free. Those are my qualifiers. 2lb bags and free shipping. I've found that they all taste pretty good as long as you're grinding your own and they're roasted fresh. They have 3 dark roasts and I'll likely try a medium roast or two. I'll keep everyone posted.

Tell me whyEE

Why is my Bunn doing this? It's not every time and it's not every bag, but it drives me NUTS when it happens. I get so tired of rinsing that tray out every time I want a pot.

Do I need taller filters?
I grind it as fine as I can and have gradually reduced the amount of beans. Any less and I might as well brew some tea...

Any chance it's a quality control issue with the filters? Like, are you catching an extra thick one, occasionally?

I don't know if it would address your issue, but I've switched to a reusable filter that I just wash out after each pot. Before I went to this, I thought I might not like having to wash it out, but it hasn't been an issue and i like not having to buy and filters. I haven't thought about it much, but I also haven't considered returning to filters. So, I must like it, lol.
