Finished off the Kick Ass yesterday. Open the 454 horse power.
It was only for me so I went a little light on the beans and the water. Not as good as I’d hoped but I’ll try again when I make a full amount for e we I fry and I later.
No, I just grabbed the closest one to me this morning. They have like 12 different beans but I’ve only tried Kick Ass up until now. It’s the reason I took a chance on the other two.Zen, have you tried the grizzly claw yet?
Course is typical but I’ll go a little finer. Some beans get more bitter ground finer it seems. The amount of beans you use makes a difference in flavour as well as the grind.how fine do you grind for one of those presses?
IDKis it true that you have to pour hot water through it first before you add the coffee?
Beans, Grinder, Press, Kettle, Water and 10 minutes start to finish if you aren’t in a hurry. Waiting for it is the hardest part but I like it to steep.i've always been tempted to try one but seems like too much involved for me.
If want I’ll open it tomorrow and let you know. I’d prefer to wait until I finish the current one though if that’s okay.grizzly claw was the only one from them i've ever tried and it was back in january and i don't remember that far back on a coffee flavor.

Hello and welcome to the coffee house, relax and have a cup!Grew up looking for juan valdez and his burro on every bag i used to buy when i was young...1985-1990ish because back then were i live that was REALLY decent coffee and it was reliably so! Nowadays i have to find threads like this to see where the good stuff lies........I'll search for the yellow honey for my chemex! Could one feasibly add cannabis to the coffee grounds and gain effects i wonder using chemex filters?![]()
If you like a chocolatey coffee the Monobamba might be one to try, after it cools for a few minutes I'd swear I was drinking some kind of a hot cocoa or hot chocolate drink, and not coffeeGrew up looking for juan valdez and his burro on every bag i used to buy when i was young...1985-1990ish because back then were i live that was REALLY decent coffee and it was reliably so! As part of my ritual I end up filling the carafe with the hottest water from the tap. Then pour that into the electric kettle to boil. So I do heat it first but by coincidence.
By the time the kettle boils I have it ground in three or four bursts from the grinder and dumped into the carafe.
Once boiled I pour into the carafe almost to the top. I stir a few times with a long fork and then cover. Pushing it down just enough to break the surface and keep the oils down.
I’ll let it sit 15-20 minutes.

Hey @Stoneyluv
This is the usual grind.

After I stir it with a fork I let it sit a minute and then push all the grounds below the surface again. I find a fork does a better job than a spoon.View attachment 118312
After it’s all pushed down I put the lid on and push the mesh just below the water line and wait 20 minutes.

Yea, multiple choice is always good. I try to finish a bag before opening another.i like having a variety as well!!! depending on the mood kinda thing!!
I’m fussy about food and drink. Even quality items don’t always agree with me. I have a strong sense of smell which can make trying some things difficult.i've found that if it's a quality bean they don't get bitter with fine grinds...
Now that I haven’t done, yet.it was a foggy morning the other day.. scooped the beans out and dumped them in the maker without grinding them first.. i knew i forgot something!! hahaha
If you can make tea you can do this. You just grind to your taste first. You’ll need to experiment between water and beans but it only takes a few times to get it.OH this is way doable for me... i'd try that!!! for some reason i read somewhere that said it was necessary to "preheat" the carafe by pouring (wasting) boiling water through it first then load it up with grounds and proceed.. that kinda just bugged me so i never looked into it any further. but if you just grind, dump, and go.. i can handle that. don't mind a 20 minute coffee, just mind 20 minutes of full attention to make a cup of coffee!!
My grinder is just a hand held, no settings or level marks. I just know where to fill it too from past use.i grind to finest setting it has.. i think it's a 2.. i think i couldn't got that fine with press, correct? it needs to be a little coarser yeah?
Same here, that's why I love those little 2 oz sample bags!Yea, multiple choice is always good. I try to finish a bag before opening another.
Unfortunately the days of grocery stores letting you grind samples is gone. Maybe one might still have a grinding machine but I doubt it.Same here, that's why I love those little 2 oz sample bags!
As I was prepping the espresso I'm currenjoying I noticed I have seven of them open right now

One of my first childhood memories is the old A&P Supermarket in our town where my mom used to shop, they had a big machine at checkout and I used to love to watch them grind the 8 o'clock coffee!Unfortunately the days of grocery stores letting you grind samples is gone. They have only one or two good coffee vendors and the next best thing is Starbucks before the usual brands. The good vendors only have the approximately 1litre bags of beans or the smaller pre ground beans. I stopped ordering coffee online over two decades ago.
