A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

What a crappy blizzard, it's just an ice storm. Best thing I can say about it is I haven't lost power ...yet

Some charts had six to nine inches with up to 11 in isolated locations

But I noticed late last night they down graded it to three to six inches

It looks more like an inch of snow with a half inch of ice on top of it unfortunately

Be careful out there Mainers! Stay home til it melts, have a coffee, relax! ☕️🐸

We had thunder and lightning last night but no snow.
The front is still moving so the chance is there, but it looks like a rain event for us mostly. We might get stray flurries but not what was predicted.
We were in the 1-3 inch area before last night.
Almost 20 degrees warmer here this morning than yesterday.
 
We lost power for a minute. It tried to snow a few times but was mostly rain when it did fall. Lots of wind and chill. I think it was mid afternoon when we heard a loud bang-bang and a bit of a rolling sound. Thought it was thunder for a second but then the lights went out. Was off just long enough we had to reset the clocks on things like the stove. Guessing a transformer got hit or blew for some reason.
 
Today I gotta stack firewood on the deck, this is going to be a warm week so I'll probably split some of the bigger pieces in half at some point this week too, but it won't be today

It hasn't been cold enough to start stacking wood in the house, I need a couple of hard freezes in the teens before I bring wood in the house because the freeze kills any little creepy crawly still left

I'm down to my last 4 oz of bud but I have some weed in the freezer that I make hashish from

Pretty soon I'll only smoke hashish. I don't know why but every December through the rest of the winter I smoke only hashish, I noticed this a couple years ago. Weird, I know, but I accept it 🤣

So they're all in the field including this young male that I don't recall seeing before

So I try to sneak out the other side of the house to go get my mail, it was already dark so as I'm walking down the driveway to my immediate left just in the treeline there's a big I think female, and I stopped, she stops

I said to her "I'm just going to get my mail", she lets out this loud snort from her nostrils, jump straight up, bounces twice in the opposite direction and she's gone; didn't see her again didn't even hear her running away through the woods!?

Sorry my pictures aren't better from potato phone, but I have a phone attachment on my telescope that I've never tried, I'm going to give that a go this winter hopefully I can get some sharper pictures

Doing my daily 1 hour hot burn, I'm burning different this year and also trying creosote powder. This will be my fifth winter heating with wood

I have a wood in this delivery that stinks!🤢 I smelled it once when I opened the door to load stove, again when I was outside working, I'm trying to see what the hell it is? At least there's not much of it


Having my morning joint and coffee in the house today, little too cold out for me. Watching the deer in the field

Worked my tail off yesterday, bunch of little stuff, still have some winterizing to do. Resting today, not going to split wood till tomorrow

Blue Jays finally figured out how to eat from the new feeder, and I put some black oil sunflower seeds in the old feeder on the left. I have a Squirrel Guard that attaches to the pole on order, but I haven't seen the gray squirrels in a week

I'm reading through a firewood / wood stove group I belong to and so many people have their Christmas trees up already!

That settles it, I'm putting mine up this weekend!! 🌲↪🎄

I have probably a million pine trees in a one mile radius, so what's my Christmas tree look like? yes of course it's White! (I need mental help ✌🏻🤣)IMG_20241127_112237.jpg
 
I should have explained, I've never cared for artificial trees, especially the White ones. So we always had a real tree

But now that I'm in the middle of a million pine trees, artificial seemed like the logical choice!

Told you I need mental help! 🤪

I hate when I can't water them all at once 🤣 I'm going to water two in a couple hours just before lights out then I'll get the rest tonight

I really didn't want this many plants in a 4x4' tent, wasn't expecting 100% germination.

I probably should have set up my 5x5' but I wasn't planning on growing that many, it's just me now and I don't need that much. Plus this grow room is about half the size of the one back in the beach house

Anyway that's my rant for the day, I'm about to light up my first joint.

Here's a picture of my hot burn for the day, supposed to be near 50°f for a couple days later this coming week, I'm going to put the fire out and use that high-temp sealant on the cracked fire brick then.

Sounds like you got PTSD from that deer and now they are a trigger. 😝

You still going to the gym? I hope so but taking a different route.

No it closed on us last June, just getting fat again now, vicious cycle,,,Pizza, Pizza, Carrots, Carrots carrots carrots, fk the carrots,Pizza Pizza, Chinese, Donuts, Carrots carrots, carrots I'm back on Pizza...lol

I'm thinking about pizza tonight too 🍕🤔 I've got some pizza sauce I made few days ago that I need to either use up or freeze and I have a pizza dough in the refrigerator too

We make it or panzerotti once a month. Less times in winter more often in summer.

Still using the last of the garden veggies and peppers.

Almost hit two this am real close to my house. Mom and a foolish youngster following behind.
You know they just saunter across the road at 6 am..:oops: Might as well take advantage of it being lit up temporarily~!
Good thing in my aging that I drive slowly when going to work.
The serious fog also helped me be conservative this morning.
I don't hate deer, but they are a liability IMO.
Between Lyme and vehicular damage, I don't really enjoy seeing them in person.
Not really thinking I need to a moose in person either.
Right time right place maybe but as always be careful what you ask for.

Nice! my garden veggies are long gone, but I use my frozen tomatoes to make my pizza sauce!

Oh believe me I know, I've had a handful of close calls including one with a young albino (piebald)

I finally hit one a year ago, totaled my car took out the front quarter to the back quarter & both doors

Ran out in front of me at highway speed, caught it right behind the shoulder, big too over 200 lb from what I could see, must have came running out at full speed cuz it was just there

The woods are literally right to the side of the road where it happened. I thank God it didn't come through the windshield, at that speed it could have killed me

It was extremely unsettling.

Yet I watched them in the fields every morning over coffee, I see them when they're first born, and watch them grow up.

I don't hate them, I think they're amazing animals. Also as a prepper I wanted to live in a game rich area, and boy did I ever pick one! 🤣

Cannagranny does the same from her front porch. No roads for a bit, just her driveway.

One doe has been giving her the stink eye this year and 20-30 feet from the porch even challenged her. She had no idea why as she leaves them alone and likes that they come there to breed. 🤷‍♂️

I've had one challenge me going to get my mail last week, I posted on here about it, it stomp a front hoof repeatedly. Finally it ran off after this unbelievable snort noise it let out 💨

I've seen two of these son of a guns fight 10 ft from the back window over remnants of my garden, they do not fool around they stand straight up and jump straight forward with those front hoofs swinging in the air!

Before that, again going to get my mail I walked up right up within 8-10' of three of them under a big bush at the front of my house, one jumped straight up and ran off one way, another ran off the other way and Big Mama just stood there looking at me LOL

I was already backtracking believe me, but they surprised the hell out of me, and I suprised them too I guess

Costco pepperoni, 25 min dinners ready...lol...we ain't fancy.My wife makes a good pizza crust but its not ready in 25 min...It fills the hole and we go yum...lol....that was easy

Carry a baseball bat, I'd have no qualms giving the old home run swing on the mthfkers if the came anywhere close. Its not like I'd run out chasing them after with a bat, that would be crazy but on a quiet stroll down wind at dusk???? sneak up behind one and Bam....lol....Now were equal mthfkers if I was just10 years younger.

Dude you got to get over it! My late father-in-law hit a deer back in the city just outside of Boston, totaled his brand new car. The very next year he hit another one! 🤷🏻 totaled another new car

People don't hit deer back in the city, never mind two in a row. But it happens bro! Don't let it get to you
 
Speaking of animals here's my cat story:

10 years ago on Thanksgiving I had the smoker going and I was carrying the turkey out to the back deck to put it on the smoker

In the next yard underneath my bird feeder I saw a kitten hunting birds. I had seen it a week 10 days earlier trying to steal food from a neighbor's trash bag - ran off when I stopped the car. She was in a lot worse shape than when I saw her initially

Having been involved in animal rescue I saw some negative signs right away, I called the cat over to me and fed her some cat food that had been here for a long time, since my last cat passed away but it was all I had and she was about a minute from death so she ate a can and a half

I had the back door opened, she walked in. I didn't close it, because even though she was young I didn't know if she had a litter of kittens somewhere, my feral cat rescue Timmy was about the same age and she had kittens, so...

If she did have a litter she wasn't going to stay, but she walked in picked a corner and went to sleep, and she's here now 10 years later, sleeping by the fire

So tomorrow is our 10th year anniversary!

So the holidays are coming! 24 hours from now I can light the Christmas lights and put Dean Martin's Christmas Album on a loop! 🤣

So because of the holiday I'm washing off the glass ice bong, I fill it up and then grab the ice cube tray and thankfully before I could put any cubes in the bong I noticed that it was cubes of beef broth! 😱

I had like 3-5 seconds of standing there like WTF !? 🤯

I recently started freezing my unused broth and storing it in the freezer in plastic bags but I had apparently forgotten about this tray 😂🤣🤣🫠🤭😵‍💫🤓
