Vertical Germinator sales proceeds to benefit BudBuilders

I’ve a question about these. Ya know there is a “butt” to these seeds. Ideally it is turned down when you plant. What happens if the butt is up? In soil, I have had the tap root come up through the soil.
Without the benefit of a magnifying glass, I plant the seed sideways and it rights itself. What is the proper placement of the seeds in this germinator?
Here is a pic from Bandit's thread:

I see the butt finished in 3 different directions. It appears to shuck the hull to the side in the channel.

I used one once and think the idea is the seed will right itself if you mess up.
Gravity and the only source of light are the natural parts of the design IMO.
Pretty sure I have seen Bandit start his seeds right in the middle and wait till they are out of the germinator with cotyledons showing.

These are final at $20 US and $30 international

So to print one with the logo you simply flip it over in the slicer so it prints logo face down and then it builds the sides up?
Looks like you just use a skirt too, am I right?

This is where I've been stumbling on logos so I just build what ever and then make a separate logo plate to glue on.

Although with the tall one I had to lay it down and print rafts.

With the logo I import this svg and lay them logo down. .5 mm deep

From what I've been able to gather, it seems like the tap root likes to split the hull on the pointy side of the seed. I'm going to place all mine pointy side down.

i saw your post sunday night and i was loading two seeds in my VG so i put one in pointy side up and one pointy side down...

point up on the left and point down on the right...

both worked successful but the right side may have a few hours on the left.... maybe the rest of you could try this and see what happens?

i've always tried to put them point down but i am the furthest person from perfection.

Where in the germinator do you start them? An inch or two from the top?

when i started using it i would put them kinda deep like that, but each time i've used it i have been raising the seed level. i think this is about the limit, where you see the husks is about where i put them in... 1/4-1/2" deep at most. i think i will continue to keep them up top like these, they have more room to get bigger.

From what I can tell you want to leave enough room for the tap root so pretty much how Stoney's got it.

i find it gives me more time to play with as well. i was checking every 12 hrs but not everybody can so there is plenty of room left if i couldn't get to it for another day or more yet.

you can see the point up seed had to spin and it peeled the seed away opening both sides. where the point down kinda just pushed through the opening.

very curious as to what others may find...

So it becomes one point of affirmation of the idea that pointy side down is how you want to place your seeds in the germinator.

On point there. Direct sowing rules apply so we wouldn't bury a seed two inches deep. 1/4" minimum and 1/2" max depth is perfect

Everything I've seen tells me to plant them sideways with point facing east or west.
If you could xray the seed it would show you this..

The tap is at the point and the cotyledons begin at the blunt end wrapping up parallel to the side wall. When they open, everything comes blasting out of a side wall and not the point or the blunt end. I'm pretty sure they open on the pericap side as well.

What makes it difficult to determine is we can't tell which broadside of the bean should be up or down. So if it's upside down the sprout will turn itself otherwise there's less work for it to determine which way is up and it grows arrow straight.
Either way, I don't think it matters too much due to how fast all this plays out.
If it is upside down maybe that adds a few hours to seeing the head rise up out of the VG so often times I'll see a head pop in the morning hours and those that have to spin, I'll see those heads by late afternoon and evening🤘

This color is my jammy jams. Def want one!!
Adding to the list. The first on in that color is spoken for, but it turned out really nice.

I'm sorry to say the world was against me so far this week and a lunch trip that was planned to the post office got cancelled the last 2 days. I am giving them to my wife to drop off because I am completely unreliable. Shipping tomorrow y'all, I promise!!

I need a thank you emoji.

Again, the praise goes to @Bandit420 and @Stoneyluv I'm just an idiot pushing buttons.

i agree, i've wanted a thank you emogi for quite a few posts..

Guys all the credit goes to Bandit. it's his idea, his design, his concept. I only helped by adding hinges and latches to the one piece version with a hinge.

i'm just stoked he shared it with me because this is what i was using before the VG...

maybe he just felt bad for me and invented it out of pity!!!

OK what would a tiny thank you look like?

🥳🤩🤗👏🤙🙏🫵🌱🍻🏆💸💰🏁

Definitely want 1 maybe 2....how many can you germinate at once with this?

Hell yea I was hoping for atleast 10, thanks dude

I'm kind of curious how many people that do large pheno hunts may be interested? Wonder if you could make one cube style with multiple sleeves...say 10...for a 120 germ run...

Idk how these printers work so that may be awfully challenging. I get ideas tho lol

You challenging Observer with a solo cup run?
