A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

Done! 🥂🍾🥳

I put the rest up on skids, except for that little stack of mossy wood, I'll get that on the skid behind it eventually

Now I don't have to do a damn thing for the rest of the spring, summer or fall, I'm over the moon!

and I don't have to weed because I used plastic weed cover first time ever this year ...maybe I'll go fishin' 🎣🙂

Congrats getting your house all in order.
Just in time to enjoy summer if it ever gets summerish out.
Enjoy it either way man~!
Thank you! It seemed insurmountable when I thought I was done and realized I was about a cord short, so stacking this last cord was like pulling teeth😣 but yup I got it done!

A little more wood-porn before I tarp it up Saturday night, before the next rain. It loses some of its rustic ’panache when you tarp it 😕

Who much is there? Looks like pretty nice wood....but it's a good feeling when you look over and just know that come fall your covered no matter what the stack looks like.

I'm getting closer to star cutting mine. I'm behind on that...good job 👊

All together including the wood that's inside and the little bit still to be put away, myself and the wood guy both feel that there's 4 and 1/2 cords total

In the four years I've been here I've used an average of four per year, and I agree, feels good to be at least a year's worth ahead 🍻😁IMG_20250609_085603.jpg

Skunk in the backyard at the bird feeder, deer out by the road, nice morning ☕🐸

Yesterday when I backed out there was a deer about 150 ft down the hill and another one almost where that one in the picture is, just up a bit, both in the middle of the road.

Coming home I had to wait for a flock of turkeys to finish getting across the road, there's always a big Tom 🦃 that stands there and gives you a dirty look until everybody's crossed, I respect that ✊🏻IMG_20250621_055753.jpgIMG_20250621_060134~2.jpg

Still humid as hell, supposed to hit 90 today but as the day goes on the humidity supposed to be dropping
and be in the 50°s by tomorrow morning!

I hope so because I've got a lot of landscaping bushes to trim tomorrow, it's really overgrown🤦🏻

I really hate doing it, I don't know why cuz I can work in the garden for hours🤷🏻 I'd hire someone if I knew who to trust but I like it done a certain way so I probably wouldn't be happy

I have a skunk story I'll have to share with you. Its a bit of a story so I'll have to write it down and share later 50 years later I can still smell it.

Four murders in my general area in less than a month

One in my town, elderly woman, no arrests

police say 'no known threat to the public' but they give no other information

A lot of folks think there's a serial killer in the area
Turns out the woman's sister shot her, then fled to Florida. She's been arrested and charged

2 years I have skunks mate under what was a front porch of my house that is now built in.
They had dug under the skirting under the 'deck' [ no way to get in there now really] and you could smell them in the whole house.
My bedroom is in basement on other side of wall~!
Town used to come catch and remove them, but second time said if they catch them, they have kill them so they will no longer come catch them~!
Haven't had them again but every Jan-Feb when they den up and breed I break into a fear sweat with only a whiff of skunk.
They say douche really removes the odor.
I can not verify.🥴

This one dug under the house-side of the garage, right under the slab at the door

There's a bunch on the other side of the garage I don't bother filling in, but this jerk had to burrow over on this side

I filled it in once but it was dug out again so... 😕

I don't use that door much anyway I use the garage door. Eventually he'll be gone

i had one just outside my house once and i thought for sure it was in the basement it smelled so strong!! like you say smelled it in the whole house.

We had one under the garage one year. Grandfather used to use mothballs to get rid of squirrels and other critters. I spread a bunch around the garage walls and dumped the rest in the hole. Between that and out bouvier it got the message. Another tried the next year but I was ready. Spread more around as soon as I saw the digging. Also put down new gravel around the foundation walls. Haven’t been back in over a decade.

Something tells me it didn't end well

Back when I was a Young lad of 19 I got myself into some troubles with the law. I got a sentence of 9 months 4 of which was served at an outward bound camp for misguided youth. There were about 50 of us in 4 large cabins, double bunk beds. Each month 1 group of about 12 would graduate and each month we had a series of challenges to complete to be able to advance to the next month training.

On the 4th month 8 out of 12 of us made it to final month, Hiking canoeing, Mountain climbing, rappelling training was all part of the last month.

One night camping in a loggers cabin out in the boonies we heard a noise and something got into our food so the next night one of the guys set a trap. Sure enough just after we were about to sleep. Snap the trap went off. ah ha we got something...all of a sudden the cabin filled with skunk spray. at first we tried to cover in our sleeping bags. That didn't work then up we got screaming what the fk and all outside naked with a fog of skunk in the air, thick putrid skunk spray and the skunk still spraying and screaming inside the cabin. one guy went in to try and kill it but couldn't take it the skunk was pissed another guy went in with an axe and chopped it in half,

Great a dead smelling bleeding skunk still attached to the leg hold trap. Longer story but we had those sleeping bags for the rest of the month and had to live with it and became used to it. When I was finely let out and got home I missed my sleeping bag, my skunky smell wasn't there.
