A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

Weather reports say we are 3 inches short of rain for last month~!
Hope everyone gets even without having to have rain every weekend for 26 weeks like last fall/spring.

So Tomatoes were a month late and they ripened in an odd manner, and we already have Frost Warnings for tomorrow morning! The weather is so screwed up, I wonder why? 🤔

Got a lot of tomatoes to process tomorrow, well it's today now, got about three or four times what's in the picture to do.

Finally going to get some use out of that new 23 quart Presto that I've never used since I bought it back in 23, the spring it rained for almost a month straight and the gardens sucked, then last year I didn't have enough to can because I freeze until I can't fit anymore in, and I gave a lot to my neighbor too. But this year the freezer's already full.

My late first wife taught me to can back in the 80's, and I used to sterilize medium for growing shroom's when I was following the Dead in the 90s, but I haven't used a pressure canner since, and they are a bit intimidating.

I've never used one on an electric stove which I'm not the biggest fan of to begin with, but I have the manual that came with the Presto and an Amish book on canning that I'm going to cram through this morning, so hopefully I won't blow myself up! 😂🤣😂

The party of peace, love and acceptance strikes again...

The Fatigue Is Real.

Rest in peace Charlie Kirk

Party?

It might not be worth much, but I'm going to share my off-the-cuff thoughts on this, anyway. There's no justification—political or otherwise—for the murder of Charlie Kirk. It was wrong, full stop.

Like damned near every murder that makes the national news, odds are we'll learn the shooter was mentally unstable or driven by some warped ideology (still mental illness, in my book). This wasn’t some party conspiracy—it was the action of a disturbed individual.

I'm sure there will be scores of people who try to use this tragedy to score political points or push conspiracy theories. That kind of response will be dangerous and as nearly as screwed up as the act itself. Celebrating this murder is wrong. Politicizing it is wrong.

I pretty much ignored Charlie Kirk. I didn't agree with him and viewed him as someone who thrived on feeding division and misinformation to people who eat up that kind of garbage. That didn't make me want to kill him. Disagreement doesn't justify murder. Anyone cheering this is part of the problem. Anyone trying to politicize it is part of the problem.

America is spiraling. I don't know of an easy fix, but the solution won’t come from conspiracy theories or blind loyalty to political parties. Fixing our education system has to be part of it. There's no excuse for America's education ranking below so much of the rest of the world. That takes time. And it'll probably require long-term grassroots work to rebuild a system or new party that works for the people instead of bowing to money.

It’s tempting to tune out and hermit up into whatever little bubble we create to ride out our remaining days in. That doesn't fix the political rot that us GenXers and Boomers allowed to happen. We like to blame shit on the young. The younger generations didn’t create this mess. They’re inheriting it from us. We need to accept responsibility and demand better.

Killing Charlie Kirk was wrong... period.

"I pretty much ignored Charlie Kirk. I didn't agree with him and viewed him as someone who thrived on feeding division and misinformation"

The buzzwords "Division and misinformation" have apparently become the new definition for 'truths we don't like'

Although I've never heard a dozen words in a row from Charlie Kirk before his assassination, as his politics are not mine, division between people like Charlie Kirk and the people on the other side couldn't be big enough, let me be clear about that;

This is not left vs. right politics, this is good vs. evil.

And why should upright, moral people want unity with evil?

Which side is actually a threat to "our democracy", the side that still embraces free speech, or the side that attacks people for speaking freely?

Who are the real fascists?
The people burning down cities, assaulting & murdering people for holding opinions they don't like would have you believe fascists are people like Charlie Kirk, indeed people who embrace the same principles & values this country was founded on and has been built on for the last 250 years are now the fascists, standing in the way of their woke, socialist
agenda.

Sadly many people are so brainwashed by the unceasing lies from the mockingbird media that they've come to believe the propaganda. Talk about not being able to see the forest for the trees!

By the way, before one buys the lone-wolf 'Disturbed individual' rhetoric, this conspiracy rivals the Kennedy assassination in scope, and crosses party lines and other boundaries.

Much of that information is already out there, but you won't hear it from the mockingbird media, you'll have to do your own research, unfortunately that's something very few bother to do anymore.

Almost 3" since 4pm. yesterday! 🥳
This will definitely get me over the hump, I hope it helps my neighbors as well, some of them haven't had water for weeksView attachment 113060
We got 6mm so far this month and not much more last month. I’ve been filling the closest rain barrel with tap water. And I thought last year was bad. 😞

Exactly the same thing here. As soon as they start turning red/orange I’ve started plucking them and brining them in to finish. Rabbits and squirrels have started eating things too.

My uncles and grandparents were into canning but my mom wanted nothing to do with it. I remember the pressure cooker and it’s locking handles and big gage but I’ve never used one. With the way life’s turned I wish I’d paid more attention to canning.

Hoping everything is going alright.
Haven't heard from you in a bit.
We got our 3 plus inches of rain last week finally.
Hopefully your well got some too.

You dont need to pressure can tomatoes. Hot water canner is enough, if you add a tablespoon spoon of lemon juice per court. I can give you more details if you need them.save the pressure canning g for green beans and potatoes

It's super easy .I do all our canning .if you ever have questions let me know.

I used to have two pressure canners going at a time, one was my grandmother's which I know is older than me (and I'm turning 70 still have it it's up in the garage) back when I used to sterilize mycelium to grow shrooms back when I was following the Dead around New England

Now I got a brand new beautiful Presto with all the safety bells and whistles and I've never used it 😆LOL I've been freezing quart jars cuz I had room in the freezer plus, I gave a lot away

...and I still grow cannabis! 🙂
White Rhino, topped twice, few more weeks till the flipView attachment 117082
Hey, good to see you back. Plants look good, after my last grow I don't think I'll ever let mine grow as big as yours are in veg again. I mistakenly flipped my last girls at 3 weeks old / 25 days from seed. They have grown out great, 3 weeks is a bit too young me thinks, but I used to go 6 weeks minimum, I think 4-5 weeks will be max veg time for me now.

They grow out as well as Auto's do apparently when accidentally flipped early. I always wanted as big of a plant as I could get but I got crowded out of space more times than not. Even at such an early flip I had an Alaska Thunderfuck reach my lights and I had to bend her over. A 3 week old vegged plant got 5ft tall after flipping and she wasn't a foot tall when she was flipped.

Anyways just smokin and babbling , carry in as if I were normal...lol

Sorry to hear that, I'd listen to Zen seeker and make a doctor's appointment! 🙁

Hey, ya bin there dun that today, Dr says its a concussion still lingering and if it was anything worse I'd be dead or in a hospital by now if it had been a serious injury. Says some can last months...yep I guess he got that right its been a month maybe and I've been feeling off like this for about 1 week, says rest and liquids and /or Physio therapy can help....my chess rating has taken a crap on me the last while I used to play at a 1550 rating..I'm having a hard time at 1350 now...I just can't concentrate properly. Its like I was knocked out yesterday and still feeling a bit fuzzy.

What are you going to do?
I'd recommend no strenuous activity till you're feeling better

He said old school was rest in a dark location but new school says lightly exercise the part that's damaged. I told him about chess and he said that was a good exercise, I said its frustrating playing so poorly and he said just keep at it but don't over do it. if I feel confused or stressed then stop playing...Well I get there after a couple losses in a row....but that just pisses me off....not relaxing at all losing....Playing with my cats is good, we go for walks out back in the woods. My boy Qnight is like a puppy, willing to go just not sure of direction all the time.

I meant like physical strain, bending over and lifting things, anything that might give you a headache I would think you'd want to avoid. I've never heard of a concussion coming back like that, but what do I know?

I've seen your cat playpen, I love it! I wish my cat could go out, although honestly she doesn't seem very interested in the outdoors, although she does nap out on the screen porch in the summer.

Edit: I'm terrible at chess, I used to play a Russian down the beach, don't think I ever beat him 🙁

Enjoying my 2:00 a.m. coffee ☕🐸, wondering if this is the fire that will burn till spring (doubt it), we've been having warm days so far, I've only had about a handful of fires this month. When I can light my fire and just keep it going it's a lot easier

This year I'm using something I learned of last season called Fatwood to get my fires going and it's amazing stuff! Highly recommend

Hey, my boys love going outside with us. They're all leash trained so we can put them on a long line out front. The 3 get tangled a bit but we keep an eye on them and untangle when needed. Yes they like their outdoor enclosures. I've let it get a bit weather worn I'll have to do some major maintenance on it next Spring to clean it up some. They bring in a lot of critters though. 1 week this year they brought in a Flying Squirrel, a reg Squirrel, a Chipmunk, a Shrew & 2 birds. We found a live Robin inside on a drape rod in a bedroom one morning still alive, feathers all over the room, I capture it and took it outside, I've never seen a robin fly so fast in a straight line over our old store and gone out of sight....lol always something with 3 boys.

How did I not know about it, this is my fifth year heating with wood and I just heard about it late last season, I'm sold on fatwood!

I've been lighting the fire sometime after midnight and letting it burn out in the morning like I'm doing right now, it gets too hot in here if I keep it smoldering all day

That's great I'll bet they're happy! My late second wife and I did animal rescue for 10 years in the projects of Boston, at one point we had seven cats in a five room condo! 🤦🏻‍♂️ before I met her I'd only had dogs, I didn't know how great cats were!

It wasn't so much abuse but neglect that we found, these idiots would give their kids or girlfriends a cat for their birthday, Christmas etc. and that would entertain 'em for about a minute and then the cat ended up on the street unfixed and breeding, a lot of disease too, particularly FIP

This is my cat Kitty doing flips this morning, she's a rescue too, satanic abuse on Halloween 10 years ago.

Pretty Girl, a short haired cat is much easier to look after. They still shed a lot but we don't have to daily brush like we did our last cat, Maggie. She'd mat up so bad we had to take her in for a Lion cut every Summer, too cold in the Winter for her. We still brush but its more fun brushing that real grooming, 2 of our Boys love it the other ( Qnight) is no fkin way human 1-2 brushes is all you get...3catsA.jpg

I wish I knew about it sooner it makes life easy! Does have a smell though, right when you light it

Another thing I'm going to try this year (haven't got it delivered yet) is that creosote powder, you throw two tablespoons in every other day, supposedly you don't get that thick gooy shit, it turns it to powder. My pipes are clean all the way up to the last foot or so where the thick goo accumulates at the cap, so hopefully it will minimize that
