A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

I'm going to be interested to see how it works, I could use something like that. I have issues smoking Leaf because of some lung problems and hash is much easier on me, normally I smoke hash from about this time of year until spring I just got lazy and didn't want to make it this year but I'm going to start today
I’ll try to remember to update you when I get it out. Harvest will be around mid to end of February.

🥳🍾

1) Have 2 oz.'s left, not 1 like I thought

2) Started shaking keif 🏆

More good news! the slamming headache I had half of last week turned out not to be the flu after all, just a raging head cold 🤧

I'll take a head cold over a flu believe me! The Benadryl is about to kick in any minute now 😴💤

The Tylenol sinus my wife had seems to be helping. I’m no longer drowning and the headache is a dull throbbing now. I just hope it’s over soon. 🤞

So the good news is I made some hashish today and now I remember what I've been missing 🤤

The bad news is the second i-power 600 watt HPS bulb failed to strike tonight, same as the other one in the two pack

What freaking garbage ipower is, I just bought some German-made bulb, arrives before Christmas, it's not one of the pricey ones I'll be damned if I spend $90 for a light bulb, not going to happen so I rolled the dice on another $20 bulb which will probably suck too

Are you sure its the bulbs? With a mechanical ballast there are 3 parts, the transformer, the starter and capacitor, if the starter goes the lights don't go full bright a $50 part...if the capacitor goes there's no light but another $50 part fixes it. With the Electronic ballasts I think yer fked if they don't fire up

Yep already went through the same thing with the first i-power bulb, replaced the timer and eventually the ballast and it turned out it was the bulb, posted about it; i-power's garbage.

It's because everybody uses leds now so nobody makes these type bulbs anymore, so indirectly y'all are screwing me! 😡

✌🏻😂🤣😂 j/k

It took me a long time to accept cassette tapes over my 8 track too, fkin new technology killed my 8 track collection
. 😁 😁 👴👴👴

😁😁😁 Creedence, Doors, Iron Butterfly, Zeppelin, 10 Years After, Woodstock concert, Santana, Stones and some oddball stuff.....Quick Silver was one I played a lot...House on the road side made out of rattle snake hide, little bitty chimney built up on top made out of a human skull. Come on baby take a walk with me honey and tell me Who do You love.......lol

I saw Ten Years After once at the Boston Garden, I'm not positive but I think Uriah Heep opened for them. We were tripping our brains out on yellow microdot, I think it was summer of 1976

I can't believe I've blown through almost all this hash already!

It was only two and a half grams, but I only pressed it the other day 🤷🏻

I finally found the other bag I was looking for (I've got to have a serious rethink of how I pack my freezer) I knew it was in there somewhere so there's going to be enough hash for the season 🎄, it just depends on getting my lazy ass motivated to make it, that's all

Edit: I just checked, I pressed it Sunday so that's not too bad for two and a half grams

I have less than half a cord of firewood from 23 that overwinted on the ground (my bad😔)

You can kind of see it behind the ladder it looks dirtier and darker than the other two rows
20251105_103602.jpg

I've cleaned it with a pressure wash, dried it in the sun on racks for days.

I've just reached it in the garage stacks, it burns weird!? It's 9 to 11% moisture, it should burn with no problem but it doesn't?

I don't get it, it's not punky or rotten, it should light up in a flash 🤷🏻

It will burn if I throw it into a raging fire but right now I'm trying to get some coals going and it's just sitting there, even with full air

I love the quiet of early morning hours, when I get to ponder such deep thoughts 🤣

Looks like normal wood, just a little dirty even though it's been pressure washed but it doesn't wanna burn, it's weird! 😵‍💫20251218_082040.jpg

Actually I knew it didn't want to burn, I tried to light some in the fire pit this summer and it didn't want to burn there either

So I planned my wood pile so I hit the weird wood about the middle of December when the temperature usually nose dives below zero every night and I'm burning wide open

Just happens to be we're having a warm spell now, but I'll burn it all eventually, there's not much of it

And some of it does burn normal, but some of it's definitely strange

The worst wood I've found to burn is Elm, it doesn't seem to have enough sap when dried, unless I burn it with some coal or other wood like Ash. If I DO take in some Elm, I'll leave it for at least two years, and even then its not the best thrower of heat.

The bottom of the pile spent the winter of 23 and most of 24 in the dirt (I slacked) There's not much of it, and eventually it burns. I'll burn it when we get the cold weather, it's just weird watching wood sit there and do nothing on a bed of hot coals!

Big decision today, almost 40° now at 6am, 55° for a high, do I let the fire go out and that's the end of my seasonal fire tradition, or do I keep it going in a corner and kindle it again tonight?

These are the times that try men's souls.

We are supposed to go from 50's down to low 30's today with 30-40mph gust.
I would keep the fire going.
I am the better safe than sorry type even at an expense.

I've bought so much wood from so many different people it's kind of blurred, couldn't recall where the punky wood originated or why it was there cuz it's not like me to not put wood away right away, but I remember what happened now.

This was the second two cords I bought from the same feed & grain company and the first two were great but the second two cords had such freaking big logs I had to buy a splitter! I was pissed off and I let it sit there for a year and the layer on the bottom is the funky stuff I'm dealing with now.

I think we have the same weather🤔 cuz we're having Gusts they said to 50mph but it seldom gets that strong, very foggy now too.

I'm leaning towards keeping it going in a back corner myself, for tradition.

We were freezing two days ago, then bumped to a crazy 10*c yesterday. Now it’s pouring rain since last night with more freezing temperatures coming right after. Snow is half gone but the ice will be brutal I’m sure.

Keep the home fires burning. 🤣
Any real reason to let it die out?

-Gets out his Fahrenheit to Celsius converter scale-

😂🤣😂

The rain hasn't started here yet and my weather apps estimations are all over the place some say it should be raining now others have it starting at noon

You can use the url/address bar of your browser to do simple math and conversions.

Just enter 10c=f and it will say 50*f. As this is a mostly US forum I’ve had the occasion to need that. 🤣

Ya the wind and rain have been bad a while now. I had to shovel the back walkway two days ago as it was 8” deep still. Now the only snow left is where it was piled up. 😳

we have six to eight inches out there now, I imagine that's what it'll be like here after it rains all day

we're supposed to get a few inches over the next week, won't be much though, as long as theres snow on Christmas you can keep the rest of it!
