Bandit on a Safari and I'm Hunting Unicorns

i saw that email right after i typed out that message.. i still have the tab open on my browser and it will be hard to say no... i've wanted a losi car for a while now so it might just be time!!!

funny man i always knew our bdays were real close just never knew the exact day.. we're two weeks apart mines friday the 27th. i'll be 52 and still getting toys too!!! :D

ya know though i'm still waiting on that pre order camaro from hendrics.. that and my koosi hasn't shipped, i wanted the koosi for 4th of july months ago!!! it was supposed to ship in april. so this late october date has me sketch...

Well I went down a rabbit hole and ordered the Truex car too. 🙃Figure I'll use a label maker and change the name on the window to Brisky 😋
Got to thinking and I can't race with just one car so my wife can drive the #5 and me the #19. I'd get her the #8 but I know she'd just drive it around in reverse all the time :ROFLMAO:
I ordered the 19 from Losi and they have the same preorder schedule as HMS so we'll see.
If they weren't Losi I'd probably pass but since your pig roast brought up memories of RC racing in Korea, it was always Team Associated and RC 10s vs Losi buggies my buddies had and those Losi cars were solid.
Now I'm at work looking at spots for tracks, already found a good paperclip spot, a speedway, and now I'm thinking of trying to build a replica of COTA in my backyard. Told you I went down a rabbit hole!

Busy AF but no way am I missing this grow. IN!

Right on Brother! Happy to have ya here for the show. It's gonna be a good one!!!

Ok brother, I got time to hear your opinion of the tester Irie skunk. That was ok I hope, but can you describe the "Haze" reference ? Iam not good with smells and taste because of chemo and radiation treatments, that simple. Sometimes I taste whiskey's to help my palate gain knowledge of terpines and smells and taste of say, cinnamon. Thanks brother. SS

Sure so haze is just another word for sativa or unusually potent sativa.
These strains hit me with a creeper effect. Meaning I can start smoking a joint and not really feel much to start then about midway thru I realize I'm way too high.
Along with that the effects are heady. I'll start thinking of and contemplating ideas, things to build, things to do to my grow room, want to listen to music, laugh at things, maybe binge watch a docuseries, go for hike or walk a beach etc.
Munchies will kick in and I'll want to cook and maybe even try a new recipe. After about two hours I crash hard and want to nap.

Indica or kush is very different. I feel effects immediately and the phrase "One hitter quitter" will apply.
The effects are pain numbing, slow reactions, heavy legs and feet, spaced out trains of thought easily distracted into another train of thought.
Slow giggles and munchies but I don't wanna cook and will more so look to dip cookies in milk.
I don't want to do much so rather than go for a walk on the beach I'd prefer to sit there and space out on the waves and the sound of them.

I consider Haze to be something to smoke for mental therapy medicinal effects and kush to me more of a narcotic pain relieving medicinal effect.
These different effects are why I try to grow both every grow and enjoy the effects both have to offer.

The haze will grow large buds that take a long time to ripen while the kush will grow smaller buds but usually 3-4 times as dense as haze and ripen much faster. The haze flowers will be spongy and kush firm like rocks.

ya know man, me finding a place to drive it is the only thing holding me back from ordering one yet. i'd have to drive somewhere to use it. it's not like my crawler where everything outside is a playground. same reason i don't already own an R/C drag car.

thats so funny about getting your wife an 8 car!!! i bet you could find her a 1/12 scale model kit of the 8 and fit the body to the losi chassis.

.

Happy Birthday Brother!!! hope ya have an awesome day!!!!!!

Heck Yeah! Happy Birthday Bandito!

Man I've found so many cool places to drive these cars, all on campus, but you're right the biggest challenge will be the backyard track. There's also 2-3 RC car parks with tracks as well around town.
I wont replicate COTA but the track I build will be COTA inspired with that turn 1 up the hill in the back corner of the yard, some S's or chicane, a carousel, and a long speedy straight away up into turn 1.
I'll likely fall back on my teenage years of building half pipes and ramps for skating making it a sort of 3-4 foot wide deck track, water proof the wood, and surface it with outdoor carpet.
Do some landscaping around it and have the metal art too. It will probably end up looking like a mini golf course when done. Gonna be my winter project.
So it turns out Losi also has blank bodies available to customize and also a few upgrade parts too! So I might get sneaky and cheat by modifying the 19 so it always beats the 5 :ROFLMAO: :devilish::ROFLMAO:

Yep, today marks another trip around the Sun🚀☀️

40 is a distant memory but this old pirate's still kicking!

And my pirate treasure chest is looking great! 'Murica AF too!!🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

hope #3 is okay... i missed the injury play, stepped away from the tv for a minute and i thought it was from his hand then later saw it was a muscle pull. do you think it was just precautionary?

gotta say though they had a hell of a play drawn up for Arch when he stepped in.. looked like brett farve with the bootleg side arm!!! gun slingin it a few times!!!!! thats who the raiders need to hire in a few years!!!!

.

and man what a good race Briscoe had!!! made up like 28 playoff points or something like that!!! i think him and James Small will get along. he and truex butt heads quite a bit but so does everybody else with truex and just think he's tough to team with, briscoe's not like that. he's more of a team player than truex and i think he'll fit in very well on that team.

bristol saturday night!!!!!! i've been getting over pumped for night races for years now and Larson't track record at night isn't so hot so i'm hoping this week is a rare great finish!!!!!!! Bristol baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so ya know i have three WVU shirts and a hat... i now have more longhorn gear than any other team!!!!! you took over my closet man!!!!!:LOL:

Brisky had himself a day for sure!!!
Yeah he's way different than Truex. I don't even think he swears. Like total church boy kinda deal but super laid back like he's high all the time. But yeah way cool and tough too. Racing with that broken hand and muscling thru some bad days at the track fighting a shitty car all day and doesn't whine about it at all.

Yeah QB1 has a strained ab muscle and Arch just came in and dazzled. Picked up SEC Freshman of the week honors with that performance. Now we're #1 in the country for the first time since 2008!!!
Yep that's how we do it with the swag bags buddy! I swamp my sister and her kids the same way. They'll walk around NorCal in their horns gear and get horns up, hook 'em, and people asking about it so don't surprised if you get the same. Or it could go bad and you get the hate! Could go either way. :ROFLMAO:

So yeah I had a little rocky start here and some attrition early on but things are taking shape

IMG_7801[1].jpeg

I went ahead and dropped some Los Angeles by GPS to germinate because I wanna see if I can do some things with the clone machine other than just clone.
Gonna see if I can pretty much make into a veg tent for both seedlings and clones.
Things could also open back up for perpetual farming especially with having the lifting tables and multiple lights. Lots of options available here.
The clone tent being aeroponic and all is pretty much like one of those As Seen On TV Aerogarden deals but a ton more baddass.
All the black collars are blank spaces and all the blue or green are true plant sites

IMG_7802[1].jpeg

Still gonna keep it organic and see if I can veg using K4L cloning powder, a few drops of 'Nova grow, and some kracken guano then just keep the hydro gumbo going indefinitely.
If bare root vegging works out for me I'll save a lot in time and resources not needing soil for vegging anymore or the3 work involved in starting a dozen or so sprouts off in soil

IMG_7809[1].jpeg

Changed up the lights a bit too so I have plenty of firepower in that department😋

IMG_7804[1].jpeg

And in other news...Just got the shipping confirmation on the #5 RC Car!!!🥳🤩🥳

You definately can. On top of vegging in it from time to time, I've even popped seeds in it multiple times. I Just place the seed in the center of the clone collar and use your regular timer settings as you would for cloning . Then just wait and watch the tap root escape the bottom of the collar and go on the hunt for water. Try it, its worked out each time I've tried experimented with starting seeds in an aerocloner. Good luck!

Thanks for the good words of encouragement buddy! I'm thinking seeds will be even easier than clones. So far I've got 4/4 popped and will be ready no later than 2 more days.

🔥

After setting up to do more than just propagate, the tent was running way too hot so I've been tinkering away at it since yesterday.
I removed the blurples then did a Grump and turned the tent into a cabriolet 😋

IMG_7813[1].jpeg

Had to get that driver out of there and a fan on that board. Thing runs at 100*F!
Now with it out and a fan blowing across it's only at 88.
The Ionboard light is impressive at least on the Pulse charts. I really doubt I'll ever take it past 6 with 4-5 being the wheelhouse on the dimmer. When I put the sprouts in I'll start it off on 1 then walk it up to 5.

🔥

Thinking about what to do here....Had a rough start mishandling a few sprouts and snapping tails off. Also, I didn't check my water and look like it's chemistry has changed with a really high pH and xtra 100ppm.
So I got the water corrected and have been nursing the herd along.
Got some keepers but with the veg tent coming along and waves of a perpetual plant factory assembly line on the mind I might cull a few more if they stay runts and drop more seeds or clone some of these

This herd is 14 days from dry seed

ah hell yeah!!! ya know with that white exhaust sticking out it kind of looks like a Mr. Fusion!!! :D

and now more head room to grow em taller in there!!!! i really like the flexibility you have this round, you're not really locked into anything yet and the sky's the limit!!!!!

did you get your cool cars today? not sure what kind of chargers they provide you with but if you're not happy with it i suggest a venom charger, this model charges two batteries at once and also runs on AC/DC so if you wee in a parking lot and only had 12vdc from your sled you could still charge!!!

i could have sworn it was cheaper though, maybe wait a few days and see if it goes on prime. i really thought it ran around $120 for that one.

hendricks actually finally sent me my 69 diecast and koosie today!!!!

I love it!

I ain't scared to put a few extra holes in my tent 🤣

see what you started?!?!?! this should be a built in feature on new tents!!!

The best inventions are defined in three words.
Simple yet genius~!
Same how pulling the tent up over the pot and or now placing light above tent monsters can be had in much smaller tent.

Welp. My plants continued to stretch and the tallest is now less than a foot below the light. These things nearly outgrew the tent. I've got some bleaching going on and may just removed the whole topside of the tent and hang the light from the ceiling. I wasn't ready for this kind of stretch, tell ya what.

Yep!
The tent this little tent is sitting in no longer has doors. So yeah. At some point I realized I didn't need doors on a tent and cut them off.
No ragrets:LOL:

no-ragrets.jpg

I honestly don't see how people are able to grow full gardens in these tents. I'd need a portable AC plugged into one of the ports before I even started.😬

So far the shipping on the car is at the "sender has created a label" stage.
I did get a charger + two xtra batteries. It's not a fancy charger but it's better than the USB charger the cars come with. I'll have to open the box and show you what I got.
I also have another battery and charger for the robot car kit I've yet to get back into. Hey maybe that robot car can be the track tow truck? :ROFLMAO:

Little early for that #1. All it does it put a bullseye target on our back and everybody gonna act like playing us is their super bowl.
Two more weeks of a very manageable schedule then comes the gauntlet of games vs OU, Georgia and others. That #1 will be tested.
Best to hop on the bandwagon now Buddy! Get on it or get run over by it, Chad!!! :ROFLMAO:

Tents really should come with options on the roofs.
You could have a screen, clear window for greenhouse mode, or just one with several arrangeable panels to run the light outside.
It's hard to cookie cutter a grow and that's something tents will always miss

Sounds like your eyeballs deep in the "OG stretch"
This is something common in OG Kush, Diesel, Dawgs, and Chems. No matter what, when you have a grow performing at a high level with lights, nutes, and environment dialed up well, it will happen with these genetics.

I've built my room for it and adjusted how I grow as well. No-veg helps a ton so I now embrace the stretch.
Two other remedies are tying tops down and supercrop.
Tying tops down is ez. When the tops are still bendable you pull them down and tie them down. By the next day they'll be vertical again but the main stem will have done a Uturn and it negates about 5-7 inches of stretch without loss of yield. In fact many times it gets flowers to swell fatter than normal.

Supercropping is an art and takes practice while being able to learn from making mistakes. It's baptism by fire for newbies.
It's taking a pliable and stretched out top and massaging the stem into bending so much the stem gets a crease and falls over.
If you know about LST (low stress training), consider supercropping HST (high stress training) because you break interior fibers of the stem without breaking the outside layer. The art in it is doing it without snapping the stem.
Again, in a days time the top returns to vertical and the stretch is stopped.

I'd say both of these remedies are advanced techniques that are probably scary at first with uncertainty about handing plants like this but they are tools in the box and come in very useful when dealing with aggressive stretchers.
As long as the stems are still pliable, they'll keep stretching. Only when the stem is firm and you can't bend it is when they're done stretching.

There are just so many tops at this point that I feel like supercropping would create a density issue. The tent is as full as I would comfortably want it to get at this point. Folding over tops would likely overcrowd things.

This might be my last harvest in a tent. I'll have an unfinished basement ready for a couple rooms in a month. Can't wait to start construction on a new grow-op.

that would be great a tow truck and a #8 body!!!! hey if you do get your wife an 8 body, mount it on backwards!!!

for a safety side man, grab yourself one of these.. doesn't have to be this one or brand just any lipo bag. i not only charge in one but just store all my batteries in one in general.

takes less than a minute when things go bad,,, it's also why i never charge a batter still in the car.

I was wondering about any safety measures I should take with the batteries. That's a great one so I ordered it.

I have the pump dialed down to 50% so it don't totally go firehose on the youngsters. I also trimmed away some neoprene so they're not too tight and girdle the sprout

I don't know what all I'm looking at, but it sure looks sweet. I'm looking forward to watching this.

There's two or three guys that'll print them for ya and I'm pretty sure you asked on of them. The VG is Bandit's brainchild.
My memory is short, lol. I do remember reading a thread about the birth/development of it on here and I think the file was shared. I don't know anyone with a printer. If I see anyone doing another run for sale, I want in.

Yep it's about 8 gallons of nutrient water under the tray where clones or seedling sit. The manifold sprays the roots like an upside down shower.
Here's a demo being done with transparent machines found at hydroshops as store displays

Yeah I'm sure either Stoney or I can print you out a VG.
There's two types now....

A single side

vg.png

And the original double side

vg2.png

I made the single side public today so Stoney and others can download it

But yeah just let one of us know which one and what colors you like

I don't know what all I'm looking at, but it sure looks sweet. I'm looking forward to watching this.

Basically no-veg growing for me is pointing more and more to the need to have two spaces...A micro veg and incubator to start everything and then the main space for flowering.

The goal is 18 plants in flower but good luck getting 18 seedlings to all do the same thing at the same time. After several attempts at it I'm declaring herding cats is easier than getting 18 plants on the same page.
So I need a light contained space for the plants not ready for flower when others are ready.

Last year, I found a great deal on ebay for this new clone machine. But it's so big it's really more of an aeroponic tote system.
So I can start a lot of plants in it. It's been sitting in my laundry room for months and I finally got around to wanting to use it.
And now, things have just lined up. Maybe it was the Moon drop IDK, but everything is in alignment to make a huge change in how I grow going from 100% soil to aeroponics for starting and short veg then into soil for flowering.

In addition to the hydro, the start up operation is greatly downsized. No need for a lot of airpots taking space. No need for the light to be on a high output to cover all those pots. And no soil which saves me around $50 every time I start a garden.

Here's another why in a visual

IMG_7826[1].jpeg

Of these 18 plants, only 5 will go into flower at the same time
Another 5-6 will go to flower several days later
The rest will be cut from the grow leaving vacancies.
Some are also regular so there's a chance of males.

If the micro veggery tent is a success, lots of these issues are cleared up and those that are getting cut might get a second chance at life being held over in the tent.
The tent will also allow me to send plants to flower in waves until the whole lot of 18 is full. Being aero, the pace of filling it will be speedy.
This is also where the tables ability to go up and down makes it possible with the variable heights needed.

Today I have 4 sprouts trailing the main grow and tonight I'll drop probably 6 more seeds to replace any males later and then also likely take clones. Without the little tent and aero machine I wouldn't be able to do any of this.

So far so good. 3 of 4 are in and the 4th goes in later today

Thanks for the breakdown. You did a great job explaining things in a way that I can follow. Cost of soil is one of the many things I didn't think about when I decided to try growing. I'm going to stick with living soil outside, but don't know what route I'll go for inside, yet. Soil, for sure, on the first efforts. The nearest Ace won't deliver where I am, but they can order CoM 🙂

It's super interesting to me how you can marry different growing methods. I would have guessed that you'd pick soil, hydro or aero and stick with whichever you start with for the duration. I like how you've designed everything to accommodate culling males and other causes of varying stages of growth. Cutting slower developing plants sounds painful.

I'm not asking someone to do a one-off print for the germinator. I was just seeing if anyone had extras or has plans to do a run at some point. I went back an scrolled through your This Is Vertical Germination thread. Very nice.

PS- The seeds I ordered from Nukeheads arrived. I had ordered the seeds before learned about them scamming you on the Zkittlez. At some point I'll be finding out if they've improved any since your bad buying experience. I might wait until Spring and start a bunch. If they pan out, I can share extras with some other folks who grow outdoors around here.

I usually print out germinators as needed or if I've redesigned it, might print several to get them just right.
The file I have now is the single sided version and it's the blue one above. I can print that type out for you easily. It's also the same type I printed for a few other members recently.

Good luck with that NH order! IDK if it was them or maybe they got ripped off on bunk seeds to sell, who knows, but it was a bad first impression and I haven't gone back.

Appreciate the kind words Buddy! Growing weed, or really growing anything is too fun to do just one thing so I like to mix it up a lot.
I'll also be able to recondition water from the aero to give to the soil as not to waste any water. With nute choices being the same or closely related the cross over isn't really too different other than one is bare root and the other in soil.

🔥

Some progress being made. Looks like I've got 12 plants on the same page and the rest are questionable. Making plans now to move some outdoors when the flip happens next week.
I've been letting my no-veg grows grow up au natural but this time I'm gonna sculpt & top them and give them maybe another handful of days between that and flipping them.
Gave them a feeding after this pic and later today I'll get out the snips and have at 'em

The first LA into aero is working on it's second set of leaves today.
I've added a shot of 'Nova grow to the rez and increased light output to 5 or half power.
I've also dropped more seeds to add to the aero....2x Ghost Train Haze and 3x Sour O's x Snow Leopard

I knew you that you would be ok. My lack to transplant on time has ended up in plants vegging way bigger than you would think in just a cloner.... 😆

2-4-1 update special!🥳

These pics have been taken throughout the week until today.
Been trying out a lot of THC-a stuff lately and hit has me on a trip mixing it with cannabis. Side effect has been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd.
Not really just a lot either..but like all of it. Every album and then some. Really into the demo stuff from The Wall

Loving the new table set up. Gotta little stool so I can sit and get face to face with the small plants.
Put on my reading glasses and it's like wearing a scope so I can inspect close up and be precise with the snips.
Also has space for my water chemistry check kit

Started sculpting plants around Monday or so. Did some more midweek and more this morning

Here's one completed on the first day. The goal is to create 4 main shoots that will grow up in a way that looks like a spiral staircase.
The interesting thing that happened here is on this plant, the day after cutting he threw balls showing his sex while still on 18/6

Few days later

Then a bunch more sculpted again today

In the aero things are moving along but much slower and weaker than expected.
Wondering mostly about two things...water temp and light.
I've put the pump on a cyclestat timer so instead of running 24/7 it runs for 1 minute every 5 minutes.
Hell on the pump turning off and on like that so much but it will drop temps.
And the light. Great on the meter but plants have a weird reaction to it. Like focused on certain diodes rather than the whole light.
Wondering if it needs to be much higher for a better blend. Might go back to the stick lights or even a tried and true floro by the end of the weekend

So I'm all but 100% certain the bean should be dropped pointy side down.
The more I pay attention to that the more smooth and clean the breakout

Super cool on the "spiral staircase" idea.
I know from my short time with mainlining that pinching both sides the same helps the energy pass through evenly.
Would have been cool to see how leaving the alternating leaf would have effected the growth.
