Bandit on a Safari and I'm Hunting Unicorns

It's amazing how much gut health effects your emotions. I have a recipe for lactobacillus bacteria on my thread. Realy helps gut health it's a probiotic, plants love it too helps protect against pm and disease.breaks down organic amendments faster and helps level out over abundance of certain nutrients to protect against lock out.makes the soil more habitable for fungul networks.keeps compost from stinking.we drink it, clean with it,put it in washer with laundry, cleans drains.its an amazing microbe. You can use to clean the grow room too replaces bleach or harsh chemicals.

That sounds a lot like archaea and might be the same thing.

It's ironic and weird too because the other day I found two old canisters of a product called Biozome which was an archaea inoculate. After I found the canisters I came in to google Biozome and see if they made a come back and they did so I ordered both products they now offer.
This product was like a wonder substance. In a garden it pretty much cleaned up and repaired soils. In the Gulf of Mexico they used it clean up oil spills and I've read about it being used to clean up other toxic waste spills. The guy who introduced me to it was also eating it in his yogurt as a probiotic.
I liked using it in Earthboxes and SIP containers because it could right the balance in the soil so even if it was saturated wet it was still hard to gert symptoms of overwatering or any other type of fungal root infections.

Considerations for this weeks seed drop....

Also waiting on this local order to come in. I'd really like to get that Vietnamese 3 Way from Equilibrium Genetics into the next grow. Also grabbed something called Planet of the Grapes from Ethos for another fem option.
I think local prices are very comparable to online. No freebies but did get a 15% off discount + knowing I got to support a local for my beans. Trying my best to make an effort to not buy beans online and just go local with face to face recs.
When I brought up Battle Axe on my order I got the hurrumphs, growls, and looks of it being very frowned upon by the hydroshop sewing circle. Then I asked about PotG and got grins and nods of approval. Felt like I was Oliver Douglas or something back in Green Acres buying seeds with old Fred Ziffel looking on

Hey Bandit, Zen sent me a package a while ago with some Haunted Banana, Thanks bye the way. Are they reg seeds or fem? I may drop a couple tonight if they're fems. If not I'll have to wait on them. I just went through a 2 fems for 6 seeds, my luck sucks with reg seeds

man its crazy how out current diets are different from each other but then combine most of the same foods. my triglycerides and cholesterol were right down the middle this checkup so i got the ok for a little bacon!! hahaha i asked my doctor about my weight because my a1c is always much better when i'm under 180 and i always seem to be flirting with that number. i'd like to be 170 or under. he suggested a low carb diet and after thinking about it i do eat a lot of carbs so for two or three weeks now i've been almost no carb. haven't weighed myself yet but can tell i dropped a few elbows. it's a good thing i'm not a picky eater, there are only two things on the planet i won't eat so if i go hungry there's something wrong!!! haha

fyi.. popcorn and fish.. the only two things i won't eat!

and for the record i have nothing against "almost meats" well one thing.. if you're a vegetable, be a vegetable.. be delicious and own that shit!! don't try and act like a meat, you'll never be a meat, you'll never fell like meat, or taste like a meat.. just be a veggie and luv it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i like how you call em veggie patties!!! veggies trying to be meat reminds me of tofu.. and we all know how that works out!! hahaha on FIRE!!

.
.

so i might be shopping for a 3x3 tent soon, what do you suggest? i was looking at the ACI.. just need it strong enough to hang the 275 and maybe one clip fan. no exhaust needed and if i do it will be a small 4"

Same here as far as local genetics.
We've still got a couple up here, we don't really talk about in the open air...
That Agent Orange is a example....still a couple hippies around down south in cali
I know there still holding some of the older genetics. Hand to hand is always better...

They are regs sir, sorry. But the weed is nice.🤪

I have grown the Planets of the Grapes and would/will again.

I knew I had read about it somewhere!
It was between that and something new called Pillows.

Regular with around an even 50/50 splits on males and females. I'd drop 5 beans for every 2 females wanted and likely come out ahead if you're dropping 10 or more seeds at one time.

Yeah Guy is back!!! hahaha! Still weird as ever. He fucked up my shipping quote and charged me xtra so in return he sent me xtra biozome plus lol.
I don't recall much but I think there was some legal drama between him and Jobes fertilizer on naming rights or something like that. I guess he won out!
Our stuff might not be any good now though. Shelf life of 5 years but IDK...archaea kinda defy expiration dates and that sorta shit.
Hey speaking of shit...can't wait to sprinkle some on the dog shit in my yard to make is disappear hahahaha!
If you want some more lemme know...I have xtra thanks to Guy and his fucked up shipping calculator!
He's still in Central Texas but up in Waco now. Prolly why he's so weird. I swear the people in that town are just off. We call it Wacko.

Yeah my diet in the guidelines of it sucks bad. No processed foods. No dairy, no meat, no sugar, and low salt.
I do like fish so I eat fish maybe 4x a week or more. Lots of grain food and veggies too. Chicken 1 or 2x a week.
I don't miss a lot of it because I've found some really substitutes.
With the fake meat stuff there's pretty much two categories...meat alternative which really tries to taste like meat and vegan which are mashed up veggies formed into a patty. The veggie patties are no more a burger than something like a crabcake being classed as burger.
It's the veggie patties that I really enjoy and I wanna make my own black bean patties here at home.

The meat alternatives are good for the most part. Beyond and Impossible are about the same.
The thing about it is I like it to be cooked in a little oil and slightly overcooked so it gets a cripsy crust on it. It's better well done I guess you could say but I stick mostly with veggie patties and especially this green one that's really good. This week I'll try some beet based patties in a sandwich and see how that goes.

Yeah man I hear ya...food has pronouns now but fuck it man. I ignore the mind clutter of all that and have just let it go like I have wilth all you people putting beans in chili.
The milk thing bothers me but I'm coming around on it and I'll explain how....
So if I want milk for my cereal but can't have milk, I have these choices of words.....Dairy alternative, oat juice, or oat milk.

Well, dairy alternative to me is just as bad as words like unalived, unhoused, and other woke soft shit like that.
Oat juice makes me throw up a little in my mouth and think of an unshaved armpits woman named Moondust smelling of patchouli, mud, and clove cigarettes. Kinda kills my appetite.
Oat milk, while being slightly gaggy, let's me know that of all this weird shit at the grocery store, that's the stuff I can put in my cereal and be happy.

When it comes to tents there's not much that separates the El Cheapo from the hi-end options. Hi end usually just has metal where the cheapy has plastic and maybe differences in material thickness.
Most are the same. I like the cheap ones man especially if it's gonna be light duty work.

1st thing I look at is the door. I prefer dual doors or a French door style for growing.
If not for growing I'm fine with the single wall door. It's clumsy and thoughtless to growers but it works.
French door style tells me an actual grower probably designed it and it's better overall when working in the tent.

Spider Farmer has two types... cheap garbage like what I bought for my extraction lab, and Pro Series. I'd buy the Pro if I was using it for growing because I like it's roll up door. The cheap garbage tent is good for storing shit or drying weed.
For the most part, ACI, Vivosun, Mars, and others are the same thing just different branding.

AC Infinity has a new two tents in one design that's pretty cool but maybe a bit of overkill for light duty work options

Even cheaper and I like a ton are the off brands like Zazzy and Melonfarm. They're cheap light duty tents and something like a 3x3 is only around $50.
They're no frills and basic, maybe don't have some feature others do but if you just need a tent with a vent and zipper I like going as cheap as possible and on amazon, off brand grow tents seem to always be on sale.

I'd rec my Pink Cadillac to you but it's sale price is over and the 60% off I got on it no longer applies. $109 tent for only $49! Yeah I'll take it and DGAF that it's pink!!!

I also like to look at picture reviews on tents. They're not always used for growing I'll just put it like that. Seeing that has inspired me to use grow tents in my carport for storage and dust protection. Like even my tool box and stuff will go in a tent and eventually a small grow tent will house all my painting supplies. Another for yard tools.

Same here as far as local genetics.

I almost came home with some local breeder stuff. The hydroshop only carries a selection from maybe 6-7 breeder sources so it's very small and limited but I'm fine with that. Really not into latest fad strains or new breeders, brands, or whatever. Just looking for stability more than anything then let my equipment and skill turn it into good pot without the hype.
The more I grow the more I get locked in on there really only being around 12-15 true variations of cannabis and not the 10 billion different strains we've been sold on anyways.

They are regs sir, sorry. But the weed is nice.🤪

HB does seem to be a crowd pleasing great for parties sorta weed! Happy you enjoy it Brother!
I'll probably start working F2 late this year or next but there's some exotics on my radar I wanna get into like the Vietnamese 3 way and crossing it with Thai Fighter or another indica kush in my inventory.

don't think i ever wen through that town at all.. i know the name from tv but don't remember ever driving through it. sounds like a good thing!! hahaha

i didn't know that biozome had an expiration on it.. i assumed since it came from ancient volcanos it was already thousands of years old.

have just let it go like I have wilth all you people putting beans in chili.

yeah, sure ya have! hahahaha you better not let that one go, they'll revoke your texas card man!!! haha

Too dang funny we both bought low carb tortillas this week

IMG_1014[1].jpeg

The store bought versions use chemically altered wheat starch to make them taste normal but to do it at home look for a tortilla recipe using almond flour and olive oil instead of wheat flour and lard. They'll have a little nutty taste but will be good

Yeah Waco is just a shit town. Made famous by the cult standoff with the FBI in the early 90s. It's about halfway between Austin and Dallas on I/35. Home to Baylor so there's that too.

Amazon day was today and I made progress on my tent!
Yeah the French doors are ez to manage and held back out of the way by velcro tabs.

IMG_1012[1].jpeg

It will be an ebb and flow autowatering system so I've got the plumbing kit and an air pump ready to install. I'll use a 7 gallon bucket for the rez and not sure yet but may need a sturdier table..
Been kinda debating to do some experimenting and run some regs but being the last grow until Fall, I'm also considering an all fem grow.
Not sure if I'll use all biodegradable grow bags either since I've never used them. Maybe a 50/50 split of airpots and grow bags.

The lobster compost and happy frog is for my veggie garden. So late even getting that going but I'd rather be slow and do it right then rush it.
I hope to be dropping seeds for everything by the weekend

Okay thanks, I can't do them this time then, I went 2 for 6 last run so it left me a bit short. I'm going all fems this time. I have a new plan...lol not sure how it'll work out but its a plan none the less.

man get out my head, thats the tent i want!!! table, tub, style... could have got a "two for" deal!! hahaha nah just funnin with ya, but it is damn close to what i want to use it for and how.. so eyes and ears open!!!

.

🩲🩲🩲

thanks for the almond flour tip, i'll pick some up and give it try!! i knew these would be all kinds of stuff i didn't want, the ingredients list was like a law book!! plus they were $6 for eight, and that was on sale!!!

They don't make my trays anymore that's why I cherish them! Got one in every size from 2x2 to 3x6!
Found this online....

You may have a local source at Lehigh Valley Hydroponics as well. I saw on yelp they have used parts but the pic with trays was from 2016. I'd give 'em a call!

My table is a cheap $25 job off Amazon but may be too weak to hold a flood table. I have another table system for F&D out in the shed. It's PVC with unique parts but now with a 3D printer they're not so unique

My tent is quite flimsy and turned out to be a 36x36x63 and it was supposed to be 34x34x72 🙃
That's part of the fun with cheap grow tents.
The good thing though is even though my tray is a 2x2, it's actually 30x30 so that's why I knew better than to even try to buy a 2x2 tent.
So look out for that man....lots of funny math between trays and tents.

🔥

I think I have some effects in the garden due to UV. Hard to say because I've started giving Foop Sweetener last week and I'm not taking anything of note science wise, just watching the grass grow and keeping a keen eye on a few plants I know are saturated in UV.

First up is this lady spawning a bulbous side bud from the top of the cola

they look frosty AF man!!! especially for the age...

hehe yeah i've known that guy a long time.. he was worker at a local hydro shop called harvest moon. he was the only guy in the store that even grew and knew anything.. if he wasn't there it was better to just walk out and come back later. haha he opened up the place he has now about ten years ago, if you take your own jug he gives ya tea for free!!!

if i can't find a tray i'll probably diy tote style.

So look out for that man....lots of funny math between trays and tents.

thanks i wasn't expecting any shenanigans like that!!! i need to measure my SIP manifold and want to make sure that can fit that in the bottom. good thing with that is the round corners so it might be a little tent friendly.

whats gonna end up happening is a buddy or two is gonna call me and ask me hey you gotta any little ones for me to put outside this year? and then i'm gonna have to get something!! haha

The hits keep coming tonight [no pun intended]. Every thread I open has some pretty photos. I like the one with a few twisty leaves. For some reason, it made me think of that cartoon "Squidbillies". I like some weird humor, but I never saw many episodes. It's strange how brains work.

What do you do, if it turns out the that the plants with a little different development from the extra UV, Foop, or whatever, end up making for a better smoke?

they look frosty AF man!!! especially for the age...

if i can't find a tray i'll probably diy tote style.

thanks i wasn't expecting any shenanigans like that!!! i need to measure my SIP manifold and want to make sure that can fit that in the bottom. good thing with that is the round corners so it might be a little tent friendly.

whats gonna end up happening is a buddy or two is gonna call me and ask me hey you gotta any little ones for me to put outside this year? and then i'm gonna have to get something!! haha

I like those cement mixing tubs as a diy F&D tray. Just need to be drilled out and use some sort of riser for the plant pots so they sit up and can be drained and leached well.

Ya know I think you nailed it on my head unit remote remote power. That's pretty much the only thing left.
I'm looking over some stuff on the fuse box of my truck or maybe tapping a wire but kinda nervous about that.
Did some shopping around and pulled the trigger on a new head anyways. One of those hard to pass offers on a new head that was $1000 on clearance for only $500 plus it upgrades the screen to a massive 9" floater screen. Just not sure what will happen with these tariffs so just in case all that gets way more expensive I took the plunge on a new one.

Thanks Buddy!
Haha I love me some Squidbillies!!!

I see cannabis as a machine in a way. A machine with a lot of buttons and pressing the buttons changes the DNA of cannabis in some way.
For example, I don't believe there's really all that many strains out there.
I'm betting on fewer than 20 but what makes them so different is how they're grown. Nothing replicates itself from one grow to the next and every grower and grow space puts it's own unique signature on a harvest and that signature is usually in the form of flavors, potency, and density of the flowers.

So when it comes to things like UV or sweeteners that will maybe get something enhanced out of a strain, those are two buttons I'm pressing looking to change a plant up. When it scores I repeat it and if it fails it's scrapped.

However the way this works is very subtle. Nothing is night and day noticeable.
It would be nice to plug in a UV today and look tomorrow and see a green plant turn white but that's not how it works.
Take that twisty leaf plant for example. What catches my eye on that is a leaf and not the flower.
I've circled that leaf in this pic...

IMG_1017[1].png

The leaf is normal other than that xtra tiny blade and that tiny xtra blade is covered in frost but the rest of the leaf is void of trichs.
That tells me I hit a button in the plant's DNA that made that happen. The question then becomes how that happened, and can it be done again with more prolific results? So I keep pushing those buttons because I am onto something in regards to getting more potency out of a strain but it's a whole other venture getting the results to be as prolific as I want and repeat them with predictable results. But I'll keep at it, never stop trying learn something new about this plant.

I have a buddy who is an extremely talented drummer. He toured with multiple artists. Including one that is a household name, whether you like the genre, or not. He'd give drum clinics in music stores along the tour route, when the schedule allowed. He also continued to take lessons whenever he could set something up. Lessons from instructors in any style from jazz to metal. He used to say, "As soon as you think you're good at something, you stop improving." Tuning the heads, tweaking the throne height a 1/4", little nuanced stuff he'd pick up from the lessons all added to his growth as a musician. I think that philosophy probably transfers to anything we do.

It's hard to imagine how many things you've experimented with to evolve to how you're growing, today. You should probably be touring with Snoop, lol.

That 10th leaf is wild. My eyes went straight to the flower and I completely missed it.

I agree, i imagine most of us our still continually "dialing it in," in our grow rooms and our lives outside of growing. That's the drive right? to continually "grow"

i'm getting better at it i believe, but only because I know i have lots to learn and really push to have an open mind and not get locked in on any belief despite new contrary evidence.

Love it!!

Sat-ur-dayyyy!!! woot woot

It's been a journey filled with a ton of "I wonder what will happen if ____?"

I think the challenge of growing in Texas vs the weather and the law keeps me on my toes trying to stay ahead of both but also grow the best dank possible.
Other growers online and in person also push me. Not to keep up or outdo but the collective mind gets wheels turning and makes ideas come to life. I take a lot from others. Maybe not copycat follow but I'll see or read something that can apply to an idea I have that will make it work.
That's where a forum like this really helps and excels. Rather than growers attacking each other we make each other better here.

Man I've been at this bar light, no veg style of growing for about 3-4 grows now and I'm just now feeling like I've got it dialed in but at only around 90%. Always room for improvement!!!

Working weekend here but I'm making the best of it.......

What? I'm working hard!!! Who doesn't have driver cams and sheet metal on the wall at their work space? Sheesh.

So the garden is winding down and I've changed up the lighting to something more of a ripening spectrum turning off the full spectrum supplements, reducing white by 60%, and keeping red and UV maxed out.

Full garden shots today and tomorrow I'll get macros.
The hybrids have started their fade while indicas are holding a dark green with possible purps on the way with them.
Not seeing many if any fresh and erect pistils and the decline is beginning to set in for many. Maybe 2-3 weeks left?
