G79 busted in the deep south - tips for travel

I was driving through Georgia and got stopped for abrupt lane change. The car in front was braking, and I went around him too fast. The State Trooper said to get in has car while he writes me a warning. After a few minutes. he said "how much weed is in your car-I know it's their, I smell it. "if it's under an ounce and you give it up, I'll let you go with a ticket. I told him I have about a half ounce in the backpack. After finding my stash, he continues searching until he was satisfied he got it all.
Then he writes the ticket for disorderly conduct - he said that's how they get around taking me to jail.
I left the scene of the crime with a ball of hash hidden in the coffee, two vapes in my luggage, and 2 dozen high dose cookies. I think giving up my sacrificial bud saved my ass. They didn't look very hard afterwards. Now I get home and try to pay the ticket, and they have no record of it yet. I'll wonder if the buds never made it to the station?
So here's my tip: don't burn joints in Georgia rest areas-use a vape or edibles instead. Looking forward to hearing others tips on travel with weed

Got stopped speeding thru Kansas about 15 years ago.
Trooper smelled weed and asked about it. At first I lied and said IDK what you're talking about and he said something along the lines of I know you have it, I can smell it, so you can either have a very bad day by keep on lying or give it up and get a ticket if it's not a lot.

Told him about the 1/2oz in the console and he took it and dumped it in a corn field next to I-35.
We sat in his cruiser chatting about football while he wrote me up but only made it for speeding 5mph over the limit when I had actually gone about 15 over the limit while smoking a doob.
Got off ez and paid the $85 fine a couple months after they'd mailed me the bill. Haven't lied to a cop since and never will again

My passenger smelled like weed. I told the cop we both have med cards, he said Georgia doesn't like it.
