Help me out y'all, ive never seen this before.

I'm about to do the opposite and try bringing some plants I got outdoor into my tent after this 1 plant I got finishes up. Never tried bringing something in. Going to do a full tear down and cleaning of my grow space. But aside from that I'm trying to gameplan now a regimine to follow to cover my ass so I don't bring a crazy infestation in.

Anyone ever brought plants in? Tips?
My tip would be dont do it. It caused me momths of mildew by taking clones from outside plants to grow inside.
At least, thats my opinion on where it all came from.

Neem dipping the clones? Perhaps?
You could, i dont use neem.
i use sulfur, Pyganic or dr zymes.

Im also just not a big fan of bringing anything from outside, inside my house. Like once my kids toys go out the door, they usually dont make it back in lol.

Yea I hear ya I just got a bunch of seedlings outside at the moment...they're gonna be rather small when I bring them in, plan is to just flower them immediately to see what's in the plants...got caught with my pants down and no veg light

I hear ya man. You might be ok to do so if you treat them with some kind of fungicide and pesticide

Aqua is right. Don't apply pesticide unless you can confirm what type of infestation you have.

I brought in some outdoor early veg plants in gallon cans indoors. I inspected them thoroughly outside with my 30/60 loupe. They looked clean. I wet them down with an insecticidal soap solution I made up. I also sprayed down the topsoil. I put them in a 2 x 2 tent with a cfl bulb to quarantine them. I waited a few days to see how they would react to the spray down and it didn't phase them. I resprayed them down in the tent making sure that overspray got on the walls of the tent in case any hitchhikers were present. I would do a quick daily critter hunt to see if any eggs I may have missed had hatched. After a week they were through quarantine and I put them into a test tent for a light I was doing a diary on. No bugs in the test tent so far.

Had I caught sight of any critters I would move up to treating with Azamax. If I catch any infestation early Azamax will usually take care of it. Azamax is a broad spectrum insecticide/miticide but will not kill bees. OMRI certified if that means anything. If they have mild PM I spray them down with a weak milk solution.

My advice? If you're going to try and bring them in you are risking infecting your indoor garden so you have to decide what level of quarantine you feel comfortable with. So far my indoor gardens are clean.......so far.

I'm going with the freakout even though it has a lot of the same properties as bug BS. You mentioned that the plant has been like that prior to your taking it outside. I'm guessing it's just a weirdo. I get those every once in a while. Something weird happening in the "rootsosphere" that developed from an early age.
I was thinking the same just a deformity

Thanks for the thorough walk thru. I only have the 1 tent at the moment haven't gotten to a veg tent yet or they wouldn't be outside at all for this purpose.

Yes, twice. My wife had a tomato plant she thought I could perk up. She put it in the tent and told me when I got home.

Week later I had a spider mite infestation I had to battle.

Not long ago she brought home a sick cucumber plant she bought. I was able to isolate and used a flashlight and magnifying glass on it that night. Little bugs in the crappy earth and roots. Cleaned it up and sprayed.

Week later it seems okay so I planted it outside in a crate. So far so good. At least 5 cucumber growing.

I now only take things inside to outside. It’s my wife I have to watch.

@Zen_seeker saw you were dealing with some stuff buddy, hope everything works out we love ya here

If only a spouse or bug were all of life's problems I think we'd be alright lol
Bugs where last year’s issue. Cucumber I was ready for. Little creepy watching them come running out. But it never made it past the main floor. Tents in basement.

This time round seems to be humidity. 🤦

I keep sitting out on the stoop with Willow in the early mornings, just looking at the plants. All I did was put Twin2 in a hole and it’s doing so much better without much help from me.

Nothing beats the real thing.

I so wish i could've planted IN ground.
Next year i will be for sure.

Ill spend all summer prepping 1 hole even if i gotta blow it up lmao

Was thinking of planting these reveg clones in ground...my first time attempting a reveg....does it look like it's working to y'all? Leaves look more round now and are starting to stretch upward a bit20230604_162819.jpg

I like TSDs. Don’t recall seeing any CGs in the ground. Think she’s not allowed.

Never paid much attention because I was never going to grow outside. Famous last words. 🤣

You’ve got Russet mites. Start start spraying sulfur on it. I have been dealing with this for the last several months. Those fuckers are microscopic and live inside the plant so very hard to spot. Sulfur works great. Did you buy clones from a certain character over at the farm? Just curious as that’s how I got mites.

No i didnt buy any clones from the farm. Any clones over 25 dollars, are way to expensive for my taste. 100 dollars for a clone, yeah right, ok 👍🏻

Im gonna let it go, its only on that one plant, been a thing since it sprouted, and its been inside since march 3rd with 4 other plants in its tent and like 20 other plants in my house. None of my other plants are sick or showing any signs so of being sick, im still leaning on deformity or disease over bugs until i see 100% signs of bugs. Its only like 4 of 5 leaves on the entire plant the rest are fine.

Let’s see how she goes in the nxt week or so..if leaves keep going motley then I’d agree with aqua it’s mites..I had them on one of my outdoor grows..it never went away and the buds didn’t fill out..plant grew Huuge too.never found the fucking things either.only bit I never looked at was on the petiole and that’s where @Moe.Red found his right on the base if I remember correctly..

I sprayed it with a sulfur spray last night before bed so we will see what happens
I have been using a combination of sulfur and diatomaceous earth. It seems to be working. They have jumped to another plant but these things are dying or dead now. I’m just going to continue to treat until flower then green cleaner in flower if I see any more sign of them. You can wash green cleaner off during flower. Shits expensive tho. Russet mites are bad news man. I would go full commando on those things. Even if you are not sure it’s mites.

Yeah those clones were expensive. I bought two clones and three cuts for $150. Never again lol.

I think im just gonna toss the 2 outside that are still in my yard. One has a high ph and isnt taking up nutes, added to much potash, and the other is looking like bugs.

I have another one thats half a mile away doing great thatll be 2 or 3 pounds so ill just leave that one out and kill the rest lol

Yeah man its pricey, im just a hobby homegrower, i dont really sell much, and im not trying to cause people bankruptcy by buying clones so i only charge 10 for friends and 20 for people i dont know or if people want them in solo cups its also 20, and wouldnt send any out right now cause i possibly have bugs.

The best thing to do with any clone is to isolate them for a couple weeks after arrival.

So here is one of the 6 clones i took of that plant in question. 20230606_074725.jpg
I really feel like this is just a genetic deformity because it keeps happening, and i see zero signs of bugs. I know russets cant be seen with the naked eye, but even under a loupe, and my buddy brought over his wifi microscope with 100x zoom and didnt see shit anywhere. But the plants are healthy and so is every other plant i have, so im still thinking deformity.

And then all 6.

Theyre rooting too, would russets cause that to slow down? Its only been 7 days since cutting these 20230606_074458.jpg

When I had russets my roots were great - doubling daily. The green stuff - not so much.

Man i really hope its not mites. This is now scare #2 in a month lmao. First one was overfed or too concentrated dr zymes and fked them all up but theyve come out of that.

These plants are so nice and green. No nasty color, no shininess to them, i remember seeing your plants on your fog thread at the other place and i dont see a resemblance in mine.

Once these are fully rooted ill hit them with sulfur to be safe.

It sure looks like something is going on im just not sure what yet.

If you looked with your buddies microscope what did you see? No trace so no bugs?

I didn't see anything moving anywhere aside from what i believe were clover mites or chiggers but i saw those with just my eyeballs lol. I left them be as i believe they are harmless to the plant/roots. Found some spiders too, and a couple flying bugs. But i didnt see anything microscopic, i only saw what can already be seen with the naked eye.

Looks like bug symptoms but i dont know, having next to zero experience with bugs of any kind, makes it so i cant say whats going on.

I wonder if there is a way to draw out microscopic pests? Like take a leaf or stem you think is infested and submerge in something like peroxide maybe to trigger an evacuation and see such bugs easier? Just thinkin

I don't see why that wouldn't work. If it works on vegetables it should work on weed. Try it. Got nothing to lose.

Figured i should update this.

2 months have gone by, and its still doing the exact same thing.

Im 99.9% positive its just genetic now and not bugs as its been in with 11 other plants that are 100% healthy and do not look like this.

It looks similar to pictures of TMV, but ive touched it and then touched other plants, so im not thinking its anything of concern.

If you cull it check out the root system. I wonder if it got some sort of fungal infection or root rot.

Its staying in the line up, ill be transplanting it in a week or so to get it ready for flower. Im curious what it turns into now lol.
When i get home in a bit, ill pop it out of its cup and snap a picture, but its been like this from seed. Cloning didnt stop it either. Mom is the Riverboat outside and shes still doing it too.

Roots look good.

Based on all the info in this thread, you are either fighting a viroid or this is genetic.

The fact that this started with bagseed makes me think not genetic. IF the genetics were good enough to make it to harvest and into your brain, they should be good enough to grow again. That said, tough to say for sure since you don't really know the genetics / dad.

Short of doing lab testing, the only way to know for sure is to attempt a tissue culture type clone. Pick the absolute tippy top of the main stem new growth, and give it a bleach bath before cloning. If this is viroid, you have a good chance of killing it in the clone. If it is DNA, you have zero chance.

I haven't done any digging into tissue cultures so thats probably not an option here.

When i take clones they go in a bleach water solution of like then get stuck in the plug.

Ill see what i can figure out with a TC
