Out in the garden department.
I can buy packer briskets, oaxaca cheese, 2lbs of seedless grapes, and now Fox Farm weed farming stuffs in one location. 🫠
The crazy thing about this...10-15 years ago around here a cop seeing a bag of Fox Farm in a car during a traffic stop was enough probable cause to search the car. Now it's so mainstream they sell it at grocery stores.🙃

On the way home listening to the radio there was an add for grow room rental.

They come and set it up and start the grow and give you training what to do.

Budweiser sales waaaaay down, even in St. Louis.

Times are changing. Finally. Now we just need to make it legal nationally and in those hold out states. I would really get a kick out of trading buds with you guys.

The news said a weed delivery service was opening today in my area~!

Things have definitely changed here~!
I've never been to a dispensary or purchased weed from one but this all good in my book.

I've never been to a dispensary or purchased weed from one but this all good in my book.

I've been to dispensaries in Colorado and California and this Summer will visit a few in Vegas and Chicago.
The weed is usually hit and miss, mostly miss. If you're used to fatty sticky buds of homegrown cured to perfection you'll be let down because what they sell is more often lower plant nugs about the size of peagravel and dry as dirt. I've never seen a bud larger than water bottle cap even from the better shops.
But if you wanna try a strain you've never had it is a good way to know if it's something you might wanna grow. But avoid prerolls and just get an 1/8th or 1/4 and load bowls. Those prerolls are usually shake trash nobody would buy if it wasn't wrapped.

Where it's really at IMO with dispensaries are concentrates and edibles. They can really excel in those departments. Disposable vapes are ok most of the time but I've had some duds or some that seemed like they were just terps and no THC. Carts the same way. But jars with a gram of wax or shatter, that kinda stuff is a good score and often very inexpensive compared to black market. And then all the crazy varieties of edibles are cool. Not sure about the drinks, they can be weird and not very potent but the candy can be a long drawn out trip lasting 5-6x longer than smoking with way heavier effects.

One of my buddies gets ounces of extracts and edibles like no tomorrow.
$250 for an ounce of some really great stuff.
We have a great break everyday at 11 am~!
We start earlier than that, but 11 is break time.
Love the nerd ropes 600mg..

Yep that is your old friend DR. Cashmeh doing that stuff in your home state!!!!!!

Man I thought it was bad when my local suppliers went from $ 11.00 for a bag of FFOF to 13.50 but that sucks. Assuming this is the 1.5 cubic foot size!

I just hate Walmart ! Just hate em but it’s the only place I can but promix down here
Walmart is just the worst but it's the only place I can buy Best Maid pickle juice by the gallon. I use it as a brine when I make fried chicken. It's only $6 at walmart but $20 on amazon.

The last time in there I bought two jugs but also saw the promix so I bought a bail. Never used promix but I've seen it mentioned by growers.
Well this is the red bail which I guess is the kind we don't want.
I put the bail in my wheel barrow and mixed in about 1lb of dry nutes then put it in a tub to grow cucumbers. Seems fine so far but my other tubs of cukes are in used pot grow soil and look a little more spry compared to the promix cukes.
I need more medium now so not sure if I'll get more promix, a local brand called Ultimate Mix, or maybe some FoxFarm Kokobop from the grocery store

That $20 bag of Happy Frog is $30 five miles away at a hydroshop. These prices are why I have my ganja farming soils shipped in from Michigan. I can get free shipping and much lower prices 1000 miles away compared to two miles way. I live in upside down world 🙃

...about the size of peagravel and dry as dirt.
Couldn't have said it better, myself.

In all fairness, some commercial growers in MI seem to be trying now. I'm seeing bigger buds and they often have buds pre-packaged by the grower with some moisture to them.

It still kind of sucks, but it sucks a little less.

So you use Roots Lush? Good stuff, IMHO, if you can find it. It's harder to find here in Colorado than a beach is! :ROFLMAO:
They have your needs fully covered; no need to stone out anywhere else, just keep puffing that devil's lettuce over on Aisle 3

Lush FTW baby!! Yeah I'm a super soil kinda guy and Lush is top shelf. Spendy but a true just add water potting mix. I have it shipped in from Michigan
Sometimes that shop will have Lush in the dank deals and that's where I scored a half pallet during the pandemic and am still using those bags.
As my supply of it drops it's price does have me looking around but what I look for in a soil always seems to be the most expensive dirts around so my latest find isn't much cheaper than Lush at $40/bag but it looks like a winner too.
It's Coast of Maine "Stonington" designed for growing pot. It reminds me a lot of the Subcool Supersoil recipe but ready to go out of the bag. No need to mix and cook.
The rest of the Roots line is good too but they need added dry fertz and liquid feedings. I'll use Original, Greenfields, and 707 for starting seeds and veg but for flowering I prefer a supersoil like Lush.

It's a decent backup source but I'm not too much into using Fox Farm stuff.
I consider Ocean Forest to be a less than ideal mix and would never spend money on it but Happy Frog is a good option. I'm testing a bag of their KoKo Bop and not seeing anything bad but nothing spectacular either.
I don't use any of their fertz but once upon a time was using Happy Frog fruit and flower dry blend until better dry blends hit the market.
The weird thing though is I love Fox Farm art and collect their posters and swag. Don't use much of their stuff but with all their art on my walls you might think I was a super fan or something 😋

You have made the sub cool super soil? Does it work well?
I heard him on a podcast shortly before his passing talking about his life and supersoil.

Yeah it works great and is why I've stuck with super soil mixes since he and The Green Avengers made that recipe known to the world.
It's a lot easier to mix or even buy today because some of those exotic ingredients are easier to find premixed in products like Uprising and Recipe 420 and then there's bagged supersoils so there's no need to go buy a concrete mixer or kiddie pool to do the work and then wait for it to cook. Even TGA was bagging and selling it for about a year or two right before they imploded.
Sucks they all had a falling out and broke up, ironically much like Marvel's Avengers, and him passing was a shocker but what they did at the time they did it changed pot farming forever and we see it today in the premium soil products available

Yep, great stuff, IMHO. I've been using it for the past 3 years. Mix it, cook it, plant it and water it. Sorry @Bandit420 , I'm still old school. I took the 'small' reciepe, 1/8 doses of the hot mix, and put it into freezer ziplocks. Then I add 1 bag of mix + 6lbs of worm castings and add to my bag of Lush or The Bomb, great soil here and cook. Add 1/4-1/3 of the pot hot soil and the rest Lush or Bomb and water.

So I've been a Roots Organic Original guy for a long time but reading this has got me thinking. I'm so stubborn I even had to think about whether I want to try RO Lush!!🤨😄

I've finally come to the conclusion that I need to expand my horizons so for the next grow I'm going to try a different soil with my synthetic nutes. Any suggestions?

Age and bad back pumped the brakes on my mixing soils days. And finding premix stuff has really made life ez.
I do something similar jacking up my Lush to make it xtra hot. Over the years I kinda adopted several ideas into how I like my soil for flowering taking supersoil ingredients but using ideas from True Living Organics and doing layers with the hot mix in the bottom layers of a 7 gallon pot. Very rarely do a liquid feed of fish and & seaweed but other than that it's water until harvest. For my current grow I'll be shelving the fish & seaweed and opting for a compost tea brew.

This will sound kinda weird but avoid soils with dirt in them. 😋 I avoid anything with sand like Ocean Forest or clay and prefer a peat base soil for warm weather grows and coco based soil for cool weather. And especially avoid anything that smells like wet sawdust or is super heavy. If trying to pick up a bag gives you a hernia, leave it on the floor. If you can lift it with one arm, even better.

The entire line of Roots is good. Each one is just an elevated version of Original with Lush having everything. Greenfields has a lot of sea borne goodies in there and 707 is a basic yet mild super soil recipe.
I've used a lot of soils looking for what I like most and usually go back to Roots after a test run just because Roots is so good and ez to work with. Right now I'm testing out Coast of Maine Stonington and really like what I see but here's a list of some notable bags I've used.
For a budget soil, Fertilome Ultimate Potting Mix. It's pretty much a Happy Frog copycat at half the price. Add xtra perlite to lighten it up though
Black Gold
Ladybug Vortex
Vermifire
FF Salamander for warm weather
FF Strawberry Fields
Sunshine #4
ProMix white bail

Avoid anything from Botanicare. Too expensive and performs like hot garbage

Exactly what I do, well I use 5gal pots and our mom and pop grow store downtown has Microbe Mondays. Bring in an empty gal jug and leave with a gal of microbial tea. I forget the brand they are pushing, but the tea surly doesn't hurt anything. Topdress or add a bit of Age Old liquid fert if needed. If you haven't seen it, I'm doing a Supersoil journal alongside my forst (first and worst) RDWC grow. So if you haven't seen my comedy of errors, have a look. It starts over on the farm with a trainer tomato and is finishing here on Bud Builders. By the way, that tomato is going strong in it's new, earth home. :giggle: THank God for the teachers on this site!!!

IMG_20230505_091043.jpg To bad I can't get @Moe.Red some tomatoes from it this summer. THANKS Moe!!! (y) Best tasting tomatoes I've ever eaten. A Wisconsin 55 variety, FTR.

Nice! Thank you for the list of candidates and guideline info.

I hear ya on Roots. I've worked with a few other soils in test mode but keep coming back to RO. I've always thought it's because I've worked with it so much that I've just gotten used to how it works. Haven't really had any issues with it regardless of time of year so maybe I shouldn't try and fix what ain't broken?

I understand you can mix FFOF with Happy Frog for a decent soil mix, cooking soil, and mixing alot has my back in guard. Sohum, Build a Soil, Roots many to try, huh? SS
