Looking for second opinion please

I have a friend I’m mentoring. I went and checked his outdoor on Sunday and found the plant in very poor condition. A few things were going on. He collects and uses rain water. He had a mag def two weeks ago so I gave him a bag of epsom and gypsum. He top dressed both of those and is adding the epsom to his water now. The plant was ate up by bugs so I got up on a ladder and defoliated the shit out of it leaving the best of leaves. I had him spray with lost coast plant therapy afterward and told him repeat Wednesday. The medium is cocoloco and I dug around in it looking for larva. I didn’t see any. He is feeding roots organic bloom top dressed. Last feed was a week ago. He is also top dressing worm castings. The pot is 35g plastic drum and it has good drainage. He did plant a 7g fab in to that plastic drum. Here are pics. Let me know what you think. I’d really like to help him get this plant back on track. It was beautiful a month ago.

Well, I grow my medicine indoors , but leafy green veggies are all subject to the same woes in my garden in the back yard. So from that experiance, I'd say you've done all the right things. Perhaps a good foliar feed of Epsom??? My general gardening experiance tells me you have it back on track and it will look much better in a week.

It bounced back. Turned out male so it got whacked.
