Old School Skunk, RKS

Theyre more like rotting/death than skunk spray. I found them absolutely gross, but they for sure grew well. The high was decent, nothing too crazy. But it made my clothes and even breath smell really bad after smoking a joint.
 
Just an update on these 79’ Florida Skunk ladies. It’s now day 70. We are getting freezing nights then it’ll be in the forties the next night. So far they are handling it good. They need to go at least another ten days to activate the thiols according to Katsu seeds. If the weather cooperates we should make it. If we get consistent freezing nights I’ll have to chop. I have been battling spider mites and had to hose some off the other night. I leaf lowered the water off but missed some and had to chop a couple tops because it was starting to mold. But all seems to be fine now. So, the smell….

It has an interesting nose. It’s different than a skunk smell. It has a funk dankness that is in the skunk family for sure but it’s not like the smell of a skunk. More sulferish maybe? It’s a hard smell to describe. It’s like a Sulfer with something pleasant behind it. Not quite perfume but something that balances out the Sulfer smell. I am exited for thiols and then maybe it’ll be closer to skunk. I will update in another ten days if they can make it than long. Stay tuned…

Yeah I’ll part with skunk number one as I have quite a few of those. I grew some out and it was nice, just not what I remember. I recently grew some Northern Lights number two and it has that thiol skunk smell. It’s weird, you don’t smell it while you’re smelling the nugs but when you leave the room and come back after a while it just hits like a skunk is in the room. I soooo miss that smell. I am thinking that the original skunk we all miss was fo sho related to Nl#2 or just Northern Lights in general. Maybe it was like NL#2 or #5 with haze or something. But man that NL#2 has that skunk in there. Getting closer.

Also I’m on day 76 of flower for the ‘79 Florida Skunk. They smell pretty gross haha. Not sure I’ll be able to trim this one inside as the wife may not be too pleased. No thiol skunk smell yet….
 
I’m impressed on the collection you have I wish I would have saved some from my younger days but saving seeds was the last thing I I thought about I’ve smoked some good bud including skunk but it’s been many years since , the skunk I remember you couldn’t carry in your pocket I would put it in a jar wrap it up and put it in the toolbox on my truck just to get it home any how I’m looking for something special I can keep around for a bit an noticed the pack you had how would I go about getting these

Ok final report on this ‘79 Florida skunk:

Bud structure: loose ass leafy buds with minimal trichombs

Smell: no skunk smell, just a weird bad like toilet/Sulfer smell. No skunk thiols like they said and it went 84 days as instructed

Smoke report: chit doesn’t get me high. WTF?

Final conclusion: don’t waste your time or money. These were S 1’s, maybe the original is old school skunk but I grew three and none had a skunk smell.

FYI the Northers Lights #2 that I grew right next to these are skunky as a skunks ass! Taste is phenomenal and it has that nice old school high. From AG seeds. The Florida Skunk S1’s were from Katsu seeds. I think they ought to grow out those S1s and see what they are selling

I bought an oz back in the late 70s that was absolutely gorgeous looking buds, great piney aroma, sticky and tasted awesome, but no buzz. Not even a little asphixiation buzz. Unless you took at least one drink of alcohol.
Could be beer, wine or distillates but a little alcohol triggered whatever was hiding in that weed.

There is no 1980's SKUNK any more.

The Heirloom 79 and 81 are originally from Sunshine State Seed company. Katsu got their stache from Sunshine State but probably didn't inform anyone or credit Sunshine State. These plants are roadkill but not skunk. Foul smells of dead rotting flesh and so on but no skunk.

As for SkunkReallyWorks (and his 25 aliases). He acquired all his Heime Cheeba RKS from me then tried to remove me from their history. I list the RKS as not the same as the original, which I did smoke in the early 80's. A weaker version without the overpowering smell. Then SRW says his is loaded with odor and powerful but came from my seeds. The guy's been banned from many sites. Threaten to sue the owner of one site if they didn't remove me. (they didn't remove me they banned him). A real class act.....

Here's the receipt of him buying it from me. From about 5 years ago. All my RKS. Reg seeds, F2's, Fems, and Pollen.

No kidding? I believe you. Nothing I’ve grown from him has been skunk as I remember.

Man that chocolate Thai you sell is bomber! Do you sell any other very loud strains like that chocolate Thai?
