SSHZ does Purple Caper "Grand Fire" and Anesia Seeds "Frozen Black Cherry"......

The Grand Fire buds are really small, dense (but small). Not going to be a good yielder. I think the hairs are browning on their own- this is 7-8 week pot and we are 2 days away from 7 weeks. But I am noticing leaves curling (tacoing) from the uvb on many of the other plants. Those lights are set at a height recommended for a 5x5 room. Still set for an hour a day, coming on mid-day. Also, one of the Grand Fire left is a mutant, and is not really growing. I was going to kill it but just left it alone. Strain looks and smells great, but 50% sprouting (not including the mutant) and low yielding. Not sure I'd do this one again.

Thru 7 weeks flowering today.........

8 weeks thru flowering today.....the Grand Fires will be chopped tomorrow. At least another week (or more) to go with the Gas Packs and Black Cherries. 2 weeks max.

They're looking great!

I've been trying to soak up how people are using supplemental lighting. If you don't mind sharing, what kind of schedule are you liking to run the UV on?

There is a lot of confusing info about them out there.........I went to the manufacturer for the recommended hanging height and length of time on. The hanging height depends in the dimensions of the room, and they recommend 1-3 hours of on time each day starting around week 6 or 7. I like to build up my on time over the weeks, starting at 30-45 minutes a day for a week or so. My issue is the plants leaves don't respond well to the UV, and often leaf curl to reduce how much UV hits them. I think my results over the years have been mixed with the UV, and I probably haven't turned my in for 2+ years, hanging there but not used. B2ACG stated to use them for this strain, so I did. I think equatorial strains, mainly sativas, do better with the UV as they are genetically more used to it, but that's just a guess.

Thanks for sharing that info @SSHZ. I tend to lean towards sativa. Maybe this will end up being a supplemental light I need to explore...

Next Saturday, 9 weeks flowering, I'll decide if anything else is ready- which I expect will be the case.

So, cutting everything over this coming weekend EXCEPT 1 Florida Gas Pack plant. This plant needs at least 2 more weeks and is the largest plant in the whole room. It's yellowed out quite a bit, as I haven't fertilized in more than a week. The wife wants it cut, I may just open another room without telling her and she'll probably never know. Hanging the light in there is a bitch so I'm always hesitant, but I think I want to save her..........5+ oz plant easily. Actually my worry is it still won't be done with 2 additional weeks. I'll switch "on" time to 10 hours, off 14 to speed things along, just in case.

I have not tried anything yet, only the Grand Fire is cut and drying. Visually, I am so impressed with B2ACG's Frozen Black Cherry that I'm back thinking about doing 2 of his strains next time, instead of one. The resin is so packed onto the buds, I can't help but wonder how much the UVB has influenced that. I never thought it made much of a difference in previous grows, this one may have changed my mind. Either way though, this has resin far above things I've been doing lately or have ever done. If the high matches the resin content, then this is a winner. Yield is probably only slightly above average too..........

And.........after much thought- I've decided to take a break for a while and pass on doing a thread next crop. I'll be on all the time like I am now, just won't do a dedicated thread to the grow. Growing has become more like work than a "love" pot thing lately- I have some big projects planned coming up and this will free some time up.

Just some quick notes........

The Grand Fire is in tupperware, mostly dried but I'm burping the containers often. The smoke is quite good, definitely for the nighttime. Yield looks to be around 3 oz. per plant, but that's purely a guess. Buds are on the smaller side, but have a tasty profile on the spicey/kushy side.

The 10 Frozen Black Cherry were all cut yesterday and finished today. 1 plant of the 10 was completely different than the rest, and Im guessing it's not that strain- it was almost done but not completely. Everything about this single plant was different- looks, doneness, resin content, bud appearance, and on and on. No clue what it will be but I have it separated for a later review.

2 of the 4 Florida Gaspacks were chopped today too, with 2 more tomorrow. 1 of these plants was super well done, another was taken down too. 2 more tomorrow will be cut but they are questionably done and each will have to be tested to see if they are nice enough to leave or will go into the hash bin. I have not smoked any of these but the 1st one looks and smells as nice as anything I've done.

I did not open another room. Long story why not. But the short is my wife has a book club party in the house coming up, and things have to be dried and finished in time to fumigate the house. This crop was a stink bomb.........

Next up will be Honey Fried Bananas and Roswell code by B2ACG.......both indicas, done in 8 weeks, very high thc levels- as long as the high is good on the Frozen Black Cherry. That has yet to be determined. If I'm disappointed, I'll go back to 2 Lit Farms stuff.
