Got a bamboo lol
Daughter used to get them. When she moved the first time I kept it alive for the years. After she returned from BC she looked after it again, then took it with her to Quebec. Hardy if you keep an eye on them.
I’ve only seen wild bamboo grow on three properties up here. My grandmothers sandy driveway. 30 years later my mom had it at her first cottage growing in a garden patch by last owner, again real sandy soil. The last place was just some yard I drove by on the motorcycle up north.
Very shallow roots. No idea how they stand up to the wind and rain each summer since they grow so tall and thin.
Beautiful, nothing like a middle finger to the rule makersOne of my neighbors uses it that way to skirt around building codes so she can have a 20' tall privacy fence surrounding her backyard
Bamboo grows wild down here in Texas but it's considered highly invasive.
I know of a pretty good patch right now with some fat stalks I've been wanting to take for making bongs.
But yeah it grows and spreads so fast the only way to contain it is to dig a trench around the patch and fill the trench with concrete or dig it all up which cannot be done by hand and requires heavy machinery.
Makes a great natural privacy fence though. One of my neighbors uses it that way to skirt around building codes so she can have a 20' tall privacy fence surrounding her backyard

When I lived in Hawaii we used wild bambo to make outriggers for our boat. I caught several Marlin off bamboo outriggers. They do eventually break but it’s very easy to go chop more bambo. Wrap some eyes on and varnish it and bam back in business.Daughter used to get them. When she moved the first time I kept it alive for the years. I see patches of bamboo even here on the coastal bend. Some people enjoy growing it, natural fencing is a good usage. CheersBamboo grows wild down here in Texas but it's considered highly invasive.
