Pipecarvers Pipes & things

Only mentioned it as it was half price and one of the two talked about. Not suggesting a change, just how to save a few $ if you were thinking about it.

My SL was the worst for standing up again. One branch is more like steps from me doing it over and over. But it’s the best one out of the three I grew. 🤷‍♂️

And go figure, the quantum board she likes better than the Photontek in the other tent. 🤦View attachment 78835

All I did was turn it down yesterday to 30000LUX as it looks like I have a calcium issue.

Getting there…
Are you sure that's a calcium problem? Do you use Epsom Salts through Veg? I don't start cal/mag until week 3 in flower and although I used to get similar leaf discoloration on the edges like that. My regular does of Epsom salts in my feed seems to have stopped that altogether. Week 10 today and all my leaves are still as healthy as ever, save for a few on the very bottom that have started to go now that I've cut back on all my nutes.

Are you sure that's a calcium problem?
No. I thought it was a P issue at first but G$ matched it to a calcium issue pic that looked right. I checked one of the leaf issue sites and agreed.

But I suck at deficiencies.

Do you use Epsom Salts through Veg?
I do use it off/on through out the grow. If they get too green in veg I back off or stop.

I don’t use epsom and ProCal together. I’ll go back and forth but mostly ProCal in flower.

I usually use 5ml epsom or ProCal per gallon. Bump it a bit if I think it’s needed. ProCal was at 8ml last two feeds as it’s got the calcium. But no epsom since week 4.

The last month of a grow is my weakest part. Plus trying to keep all three strains happy with the same feeding and lights issues.

This last SL is the best yet but now the JB and HB are a bit burnt.

I’m sure my environment humidity and temperature are adding to the problems.

I’ll be going to just water on the SL for the last week or two. She finishes the earliest.

Nov 14, My new crop is growing well, 3 Ice Cream cake and 3 All Gas OG. 1 is a bit behind and has cabbage like leaves but I'll let her grow. All but the cabbage have been topped twice and she just got snipped a couple of days ago for the first time.

The week I used the far reds for 15 min at lights out stretched one segment on the stalksnew crop far red stretch 2.JPGnew crop far red stretch.JPGNov 14 new crop.JPG and expanded the leaves width and length. Using it for short periods has a dramatic effect. How to use it & when it the trick.

Nov 16
I started cutting them down and have 3 cut and hung with 4 more to go. I'm still running Florakleen through them, they've had 3 full days of nothing but at 10/ml/gal.

I cut my low light plant down and other than small with few nice buds it is frosty as any I've ever grown, something about the low light at maybe 30% light power gave a small but very frosty plant.

Nov 17, My crop is cut and hung, wet trim but I left it pretty hairy, its dry here atm and the leaves had some frost in close so I'll deal with that after dry.

All the same strain but different pheno's show some contrast between them selves. Out of the 7 plants 3 were great providers and 4 were on the small side 1 real small I doubt 2 oz after dried. I had the pots split and air only into 3 of the 6 pots. I'll check as I clean up tomorrow which were which. I almost bought some autopots yesterday. But when I did a little research I realized that I may have more success with Drip irrigation DTW. I was also looking at RDWC but I think I will have more success with the drip irrigation and it's cheaper. The only thing I don't like about the autopots is the butt chugging. I have been reading stories of salt buildup at the top of the autopots.
@Pipecarver do you ever have any problems with salt buildup late in flower? I really like that the autopots are not electrical and gravity fed. But I figured I would consult a seasoned veteran before making a decision.

I don't have any salt built up issues. I use pot socks and they get white and crunchy with salt build up but it doesn't cause any problems. The lines stay clear and the plants stay healthy. I clean with citric acid after each grow and it all melts away.

My only real problem is keeping them in the tent, once my 5-6 week old vegging plants start to feed from the trays they grow me out of space fast. I'm having a hard time keeping them down. I've bent them over, netted them down, topped late and they still get out of control
Wonderful looking harvest. Wow, sounds like there's a huge benefit to using the air domes.
I have to do a clean up today and I'll take some pics to show the different root growth after I dump the soil.

Yes that's what I expected, it looks like I missed a pic of the top of the small plants but take my word for it as you can see air makes quite a difference in root growth and bud production. 2 plants in one pot didn't seem to need any more space, they grew quite well and produced wellpots with air and without.JPGpots with air and without1.JPGpots with air and without2.JPG
I was looking for another osculating fan on Blackfriday sales and mars has this ad going now. I bought one last year and its still works well, now 3 for 2 seems like a good deal1731959466127.png

I’ve been using hot water in the tub and/or a wash at the local laundromat.

How well does the acid do? You just mix some in a bucket with water and let us soak? How many can you get clean at a time?

I still have to rub/brush/scrub some of the spots. Only issue I have with the soft pots.

TIA

I bought a tub of citric acid for gummies but my ife hates the stuff so it sat. I read somewhere it was good to remove salt build up. My first try I used a small amount, 1tsp / gal water and it did squat. Next try I used 1tbs/gal and that was the ticket, all six socks in a 5 gal bucket with 3 tbs citric acid in 3 gal water. 2 days later they were salt free, just a little rubbing where it was thick in salt but it was 99% dissolved. I have 5 sitting in 2 gal water now with 2 tbs in it. I'll check later to see how it went.

Thats awesome I was wondering about those pot dividers. Seems like they work like a charm. I don't know what to buy.i can't make up my mind. I'm just going to have to choose one and pull the trigger.

I think I can spare a bit to try this out. IMG_1603.jpeg

The dividers and bases suck. The dividers are all right but the bases don't allow for air domes. I think the clay balls over the domes l works better than the bases. Plastic sheets cut to fit will work fine as dividers. I made one before I got the official base and the official dividers and it work as well as the bought ones. I bought a $2 Dollar store plastic serving tray and cut it into shape and it worked better because I added the air stone underneath without the base.

I'm one air dome short for my next grow and I was looking around for something to use. I have a 6" fan grill I've removed that looks like it will fit & what I'll use this time with an air stone. I've tried other domes and the bigger the better is what I've learned. I have been using 4" net pots with the rim cut off and they have been perfect. I'll see if a 6" fan grill works as well.

i like the fan you have now... it looks to add a little danger to gardening!!!!! :D

A bunch of years ago I saw a video from Jorge ????? and he showed us the benefit of removing the grill for air flow and I thought it a good idea to do with a 12" stand up fan until I sliced my finger to the bone doing something stupid even with the plastic blades it sliced right through when I placed my hand there to rest it as I bent over for a second. I squirm as I write this. I'll never learn. This fan though is pretty weak and will stall rather than slice. I hope...lol

i watched my dad do something similar when i was young... it didn't need to happen to me for me to learn that lesson!!!

i believe his words were "hey there's the little fan, i wonder which way it's spinning?" whack! it was a true hold my beer moment and it taught me well!! haha

A bit off topic but I met a 4 fingered guy that said his brother didn't have the balls to cut off his finger when they playing with an axe were they were young.....lol chop.....lol...

damn!!!!!! guess he did have the balls!!! that makes for one hell of a story though!! holy shit!!

With the grill on there is very little air flow from it but ya it can give me a good whack when i get too close
I have a small fan that the grill broke off of. The fan still works so I put it to blow on my light so it doesn't get too hot. The last time I raised my led I got a good chop on my forearm from the lil fan. 😆

Nov 29 Black Friday, I have all my plants in my 5x5 transplanted and the Autopots turned on yesterday. No leaks everything is looking good. I still have 1 plant looking like a cabbage but the rest have been topped numerous times and should be ready to flip by Dec 1st.

I have my carpenter here today making the door to my new room and finishing off a few other jobs that have been on the go.

I have the far reds on for 15 min at lights out again, night 5 tonight, I'll giver them 2 more nights then shut them off again. I hope I can keep these plants below my lights, since I've been playing with the reds they have stretched more than my ability to control them. I hope this run is different.

My air domes, I've had more root mass the larger the domes I've used so this time I'm trying a fan cover to see how it goes. The 4" net pots work greatNov 29 cabbage patch.JPGNov 29 crop.JPGairdome1.pngfan air dome.JPGnet pot air dome.JPG

Tell me did you smoke before or after you you came up with the idea of the fan cover!!! Like i said before Red Green has nothing over you!!!!
I'm a wake and bake and smoke through the day so ya I must have been high. it was just sitting there with nothing to do, no purpose in metal so I gave it a job. I've tried smaller domes and the large ones work better...we'll see how far that goes with the fan grill

Nov 30,
I think its flip night. I'll keep the far reds on a bit longer I think I can handle a few more days, They stretched up a couple inches last night I think they are feeding off the bottom now.

I fed 5/5/5/4/5/1 ml/gal + 1tsp Epsom salts/gal Micro/Grow/Bloom/Diamond Nectar/ Peroxide/ HycleanNov 30 flip night.JPG
