Really 35% humidity on the coastal bend, dome & I need to purchase a humidify machine, trying to wait for A/C Infinity's but not till March? Won't need it then,Huh? SS
thats kinda where i'm at, it's only a few months that i even have this low rh, by time these get older it won't even be an issue.
Cool, you cut the tops outta the domes. hum?
yeah i did that a long time ago for cloning, it was done kinda out of laziness. i was tired of taking the domes off every time i had to water one. at the time there were a dozen or more.. so i cut the tops off to be able to our water in cups and it still held enough rh for the clones. they've been on the shelf for years.
Thats nuts bro! Like sauna fogging your girls or something!
Does the low RH dry everything too fast to keep up? Mine will get down into the 30s but I don't see the difference between that or 55% in the plants so I don't mess with it.
So I got some info for you...Sis's recipes & supplies mostly come from here
And she's gonna send me titles of several books she also uses.
Only done banana a couple times but doesn't do it like how you were saying and instead adds flavor after distilling or uses an infuser during the distilling. So I think she kinda cheats the process always making 'shine and flavoring it then sometimes brandy and wine. Said uses yeasts she says are made for either liquor, beer, or wine but didn't get into specifics of what they are exactly just what they're for.
so i should be asking you the question rather than you asking me,,, help me out here please... should i even be worrying about the low RH? nothing dries up too fast, in fact i kinda wished they would dry up more!! i haven't watered these seedlings once yet, just to put a splash of GW on them.. i was just assuming the RH should be higher just because others keep theirs up.
is it something i should not be concerned with unless i see problems in the plants?
i'd rather not use this humidifier if i don't need to.
.
Thanks for the shine info man!!! i do have an infuser on my still so i will most definitely be using that. it makes the fruit the very last thing the vapor travels over/through just before it is condensed back to a liquid. so it makes sense to use one and have your best tasting fruit in it.
i'll just use my normal corn yeast, that stuff gets hot but it works well for the temps i live in. plus the natural wild yeasts in the air, thats where real moonshining gets a flavor from that no legal indoor facility can duplicate. that wild yeast gets in the mash when made outdoors and adds a slight taste profile. and since every legal distillery has to report to the feds every ingredient they use and how much, there is no way they can measure it or control it or be allowed to store it outside by law. so they can't include it in their mash.... we outlaw can!!!
i just wasn't sure if maybe there wasn't a special breed of yeast that helped preserve the bananas unique flavor profile. i'm just not into it enough to know. i know some of these old timers have jars of 10-15 different kinds of yeast that they use for certain situations. i just don't know the rules of it.
ohhhh.. and BTW, i loved your superbowl score guess... fuck the chefs!!!
How the RH after the mister?
I've done some silly stuff before.
You saw me wet down the room floor before.
I have a bucket with a fan blowing on it now in the tent.
In my little germinating box I use in the house I place a bowl with a terracotta pot upside down in it with a fan blowing on it.
If it gets bad in the tent for me I have a little 1 gallon humdifier.
Got say I am old school and never used a misting or ultra sonic humidifier.
I like the old evaporative and even searched out a little 1g one I got for the tent.
it was a little to powerful... a few hours later it was near 80%... i turned it off. been around 42% with the fan on. so if i decide to use it i'll need to get a controller like i have in the flower cab.
i never really saw anything negative that i can point to, i just assumed it accounted to why my plants grow so slow. i just figured it had to be environment at this point. i'm using a good light, good genetics, good soil, good water, good temps, i just assumed my shitty rh led to shitty growth... maybe not. idk..
