What are your other hobbies?

Because Sunday's were made for racing!
I got these two RC parking lot racers for my wife and I to get into as kind of a fun Sunday afternoon date sorta thing on my days off when there's no racing on TV.
I wasn't sure if she'd like it but turns out she loves it!!!
They're fast and ez to drive and with two battery packs for each car we get almost an hour of run time.
We laugh and have so much fun with these damn cars it's nuts. I was gonna build a backyard track but there's so many empty parking lots on Sundays with three being in walking distance there's no need.
They draw looky-loos and curious eyes. Some people even pull into the lots just to sit and watch us race.

way back in my teens i worked for a logger and we would split 5-6 cords a day and deliver/stack.. i made a lot of bank at a young age doing that!!

i believe you have a horizontal splitter yeah? .... you cut the logs, lift them to the splitter, pick up the pieces and stack, carry it inside... that wood made you warm four times before you even get to burn it!!!! :D

nice work!!!!!!!!!

The 5. It has SEC size and speed.
She's got me a couple times with the 19 because, well, I do a KL and put mine on it's roof from time to time🙃

I left her steering factory stock and mine is tuned and along with my ninja like driving skills I get her on most laps especially when I can keep it tire side down.;smoke

BTW..did Xmas come early with the smileys? ;pass

steering trim definitely helps a bunch. how have those tires been holding up? no chunks or anything bad?
i assume your running them on blacktop and cement?

can they do donuts?

I buy the wood split, I just stack it, keeps me active. I bought the splitter because I received a couple cords that are too big and there were also a lot of large rounds

Couldn't burn at least half of that wood as it was so I figured it wouldn't be a bad investment, but I didn't think I'd have this much fun with it! 😁🍻

Not only can they do donuts but my wife found out they can do donuts in reverse!
I'll try to get some video of that.

Yeah we race I'd say 70% on asphalt, 30% on concrete.
The tires are actually getting better with a little wear. It's wild but the cars really act like real race cars in regards to steering and tire wear.
New and cold, the tires are really slick and like racing on ice. But as they wear a little and get warm after a few laps, the grip is there for long run laps until the battery dies.
I also have sets of soft compound Goodyears but I haven't used them yet. The tires that come on the cars are firm compounds.
Here's the 5 fresh off the track yesterday. Tires still look great but man these cars get filthy.
After a day I have to take the body off and flip them over to dump all the gravel grit they pick up then get 'em home and hit them with the leaf blower on full blast to clear the dust.
Looking at these pics I'm realizing I'm gonna need to order some spare splitters for these cars too 😋

Being all 3D you could make the splitter maybe huh?

Probably could if there's a file out there I can download. It would take some tinkering on the settings to not come out too brittle and be able to take a hit without cracking. Filament can be funny that way. It can look very pretty but usable function is pretty poor compared to molded plastics.
The complete front splitter kit is only $7 so it might just be easier to buy that especially if I have to design it from scratch.
I will be 3D printing clipless body mounts for these cars though and will go to a 3D printed mount with magnets to hold the bodies down

ah even better the firewood got two people warm!!!! ha!

i haven't used a splitter in many years now, my neighbor has one and offers all the time. i burn so little wood anymore it's not worth it for me. i just have a small stove out in my detached garage and only use it when i need to be out there for few hours, it takes a bit to warm it up so i gotta make sure it's worth the time of lighting. so for now i just hand split a few logs if i need em. i don't mind it all when it's only a few once or twice a week.

ah man they're holding up much better than i expected. and man it look like the rear splitter is holding up better than the real cars do!!! i bet the donuts chew em up though!!! :D

you can get other batteries that would last longer without getting any bigger. just need a higher amp battery. i assume they are 2S yeah? (7.4v)

i can run 2s and 3s in mine.. the 3s is 11.7v.. it gets too snotty and tends to break parts!!!!

but man getting them dirty is half the fun!!! only clean photos i have of mine are before i used them!!!!!

You seen the prusa xl? Can print 5 materials at once. Tpu for the tire, PETG for the rim and a nylon hub. So cool.

that would be so awesome... even "chrome plate" them!!!! with five color/kind combos i would barely ever have to even change reels.
