So I just wanted to let you all know that Katsu seeds (shop) claims to have found the real RKS skunk with grow reports of the real thing with claims you can smell it in the driveway from an inside grow with double carbon filters. They are out of stock and sold out in minutes.

’79 Florida Heirloom Skunk S1 – 6 fem seeds

’81 Florida Heirloom Skunk S1 – 6 fem seeds

They have an email notification when they will be back in stock again. This could be the real deal, I sure hope so as I have been looking for this stuff for ever. I have some skunk genetics but they suck. Very hard to grow, hermies, various phenos with only some skunky ones and a pathetic yield. I am going to buy these if they come back in stock again. Anyway just letting y'all know! God Bless.

Was chatting on the breeders syndicate live this past Friday and asked about it, this is what Matt riot had to sayScreenshot_20240310-153206~2.pngScreenshot_20240310-153236~2.png

I hope it's real even if you have to pheno hunt 1000 seeds....somewhere that shit needs to exist again

I'm working on this old guy by me who has afghan seeds from the 80s...he hasn't grown them in a while because he kept getting pollinated by hemp

Send those 80's seeds to me. No hemp for miles!😁

They’re talking about Authentic Genetics if I’m not mistaken. His Skunk number one is not skunky at all. He should call it sweet number one. It’s still good just not skunk.

I remember Katsu from another forum no longer online when he was starting out. His cuts were legit heirloom skunk strains and kinda went under the radar at a time when folks were into the latest trendy craze.

They were A typical Mendo grown skunk sativa trees similar to this but grown in Oregon

IDK about those in the links but I remember him working with old school skunks acquired from Norcal and Southern Oregon growers who had been in the game for decades and were pretty much legends.
I'd rank him right there with Irie and Bodhi as far as breeders who I hold in high regard.

This could be a different Katsu though. I don't remember him doing fems or having such a huge catalog of strains but then again the last I saw of his work was 2016 so maybe things have changed and that was early in his career.

Check out skunk works. We got some of his stuff from seed cellar in Jackson michagin. Supposed to have some good road kill skunk crosses. The lady at the seed bank said the dude is a little autistic and thinks his super power might be breeding. I havnt ran any of it yet but my buddy is doing his gorila road kill right now.

Rain Man was autistic. I hope this breeders skills are as good as Rain Mans Blackjack skills!!!

Posting another deal, this is apparently Heimi's mother plant. Money back guaranteed? Hmmm...high price but if the refund can be trusted man that be some shit, worth the price tag if legit for sure. View attachment 59449
Probably not the skunk everyone wants tho for real. Money back guarantee sounds cool though I just don't see a way of determining that it's warranted or not
500? What's that these days? dinner for 4 at MickyDees supper club and maybe a gallon of gas!

Ok, Sativa leaning rks? I have a "tester" from that "Bad Muther" rasta Jeff, Irie skunk, one of two in testing, other is 90's Skunk. No, smell so far, lights on soon, I'll get a pic, sativa lean, yes. SS

I grew up in Oregon and remember well the early eighties skunk. I visited my stoner cousins in Miami in 83 and nobody had ever heard of Skunk or believed me when I told the about indoor growing in Oregon. They all thought I was full of shit..... Where was the Florida skunk? It damn sure wasn't Little Havana.

79 1981 Skunk "Roadkill" was there, even in Texas as I opened my back door, blew out the 1st. hit and my girlfriend suddenly said, I smell a Skunk,Ha. I shut the door. SS I am growing Super Skunk currently, can't remember the seed distributer.

Man I didn’t realize this is a twelve week cultivar. I was planning on running it outside this summer in the greenhouse but I can’t make it twelve weeks. I’ll have to grow inside I guess. I dislike growing inside during the summer because of gnats and bugs finding their way in.

I have a bunch of Indicas and one haze growing inside right now and they are in flower so I’ll have to start these in the smaller tent and move over when I can. I’m exited to grow this. I hope it stinks so bad my wife will bring it up. Time will tell.

I am waiting with baited breath (does Lox on a bagel cause baited breath?)

I really hope you guys get some awesome terps and aromas!

Just an update on these seedlings. These are the Katsu 79’ Florida skunk. So these seem like the genetics are not super strong at the seedling stage. They may have even stunted, not sure. They just didn’t shoot up string like a new F1, more like a very old strain that may have been cloned a million times. It for as shitty as these look,….they stink. Yes even at this stage these things have a very strong odor, funky and dank. It has given me some hope!!! Maybe these will really stink at the flowering stage. I will keep everyone updated.

Katsu is well known for his Bubba Kushes, never heard of that strain from him............

Also these are the seeds I’m starting for the greenhouse summer grow. I start with a lot. It have to weed out males and will only end up with ten or so. I have chit ton of skunk seeds of all different varieties to try to find true skunk strain/pheno. This year I am running three varieties of this “Skunk Really Works” dudes genetics and some good ok northern lights from AG seeds. Has anyone ran this “skunk really works” genetics? I have no idea what to expect. I just love the strains he chose to use. We’ll see! And I’ll update if I find anything skunky.

I've grown this:

I have it in both feminized and regulars. I have 3 gorilla roadkill fems growing right now. I grew it for the first time a year ago. I didn't find it to have the deep funk of an heirloom skunk. Mine from last year was very strong but with more of a earthy floral taste.

I grew peach skunk fems last year too. I also have packs of "cocaine bear regs" and Hollywood Skunk regs. The "Skunk Really Works" is his marketing slogan. Older packs look like the packs in the picture below.

I have this breeder's personal cell number so if you have questions, let me know and I can relay the message.

Edit: here's some more genetics by the same breeder.

I think I seen him on a podcast of some sorts...or maybe an IG live with someone. How's the potency on the gear?

Any peach terps off the peach skunk

Yes, although I preferred the roadkill over the peach skunk. I haven't had tests performed on those strains but mine was likely mid to upper 20's in thc content. It's on the hard hitting side of things.

Just an update on these ladies. The four in their own bed are the ‘79 Florida Skunk from Katsu. All the rest are various skunks from the skunk works breeder. I had a bout of little white mites. Broad mites maybe. I’ve been hitting them hard with sulfur, that’s what all the white stuff on them is. I had a bunch of Northern Lights but the bugs loved them and the plants had like no defense for them so I tossed all of the NL plants, bummed about that. So it’s all skunks this year. I think the mites are gone or almost at this point. I hate bugs.

Those ‘79s are slow growers. Small compact indicas. Looking forward to those. I’ve been considering maybe trying to split the bed up and plant them in the green house with the other skunks. We’ll see.

Just an update. Of the three 79’ Florida skunk plants, one has a skunky smell and two have a sweet smell. The nose is not loud at all but they are not done. Supposedly the thiols don’t activate until like week nine or ten I think. It’s getting cold so I hope they make it that long. So far I’m disappointed but we’ll see. Maybe they’ll start spraying skunk smell soon.

I can remember growing Afghani in the early 80's. The Skunk smell on those started when the plants were 4 inches tall and 3 weeks old- way before they ever started flower. Pretty wild, I think its mostly bred out now. I still wonder if it was a DEA gene splicing trick to bust people.

Can we get the DEA to re-create it?

I kinda wondered if actual skunks sprayed a the crop haha. A growers secret….🤫

I'll add I've found some kushes that smelled similar or worse than RKS............not as much lately as I now look for things less odoriferous.

If any of those places actually had the old school, real deal skunk they would be millionaires and you would be hearing about it online everywhere. Lots of people claim to have RKS but most have a disclaimer that says it could be fruity haha. I haven’t smelt it since the late 80’s early 90’s.

Probably not the case actually, the people that have it most likely arent even on the internet.
RKS is still out there, but its locked down because people suck balls and then it'll be bred into everything and thats not what the RKS crowd is about

I personally think it’s gone. Or if it is around it probably is some old school hippie that won’t part with the genetics. But you can’t hide real skunk! It’s impossible! A gram in your pocket and the whole grocery store could smell it haha. So I find it hard to believe someone could keep it secret this long!
