CannaGranny’s Corner a Thread For General BS and Good Will On BudBuilders

We finally got a respite today from Satans oven! It’s currently 78* with a good stiff breeze straight out of the NW. Coffee, front porch sittin and cannabis..awwwwww..
We got it too!

Windows open all night. Cool breezes lasting even up to this morning. Had a bit of rain the other night so we could water the plants and vegetables. Humidity is gone or low for now.

Didn’t even break a sweat this morning. Wife had a hoodie on and said she was cold. 😳

We had tea but I try not to smoke until after noon. So wife asks me every 30 minutes until I cave. 🤦

us too Granny... first night in weeks that its been cool out!! windows and doors are wide open right now with the whole house fan on high!!!! PS.. i'm high too!!! hahaha

i accidentally kneeled on a yellow jackets nest today... only one got me but i learned i can still run!! haven't been chased in a really long time!! haha
Been lucky and no stings in years. Yellow jackets are the usual suspects. A few years ago they started building a nest on the car door frame. Centre post that the back door hinges on. That was a surprise.

Glad you were able to outrun them.

Fuck bees!
Yeah it really cooled off today from storm. First time i ever saw a felled tree being held up by power lines.... I could see the fire where they were touching. Called in but they were already aware, just no one dispatched yet.
Bees are cool. Only sting if threatened. For them it’s a death sentence. All the rest get to keep on stinging.

If I see they have a nest around I leave it unless we have a real good reason to remove it.

Love that’s it’s cooled down for ya, hate ya got stung! In the future if you can, dab it with bleach..will neutralize the venom and stop the burn.
Nice. We used to get told you could use milkweed. Seems that was a wives tale. I’ll keep that in mind.

Does it work on spider bites? A big one hit me in two places the other day under my shirt sleeve. Bugger.

Thanks Granny, i didn't know that trick!! i'll remember it for next time.. this one got me right in the middle of the shin so not bad at all.. much better than a knuckle or joint!!

had one go up my shorts one time driving down the road... now that is a place you do not want to be stung!!!! trust me!!! hahaha

normally i do well with yellow jackets and don't get stung.. i missed the warning on this one. it's those white faced hornets that hate my guts!!!!!
Yep. Bald face hornets. That’s the nest we got. It’s also why I’m waiting until we have the right night to deal with them.

So far they only hit and bounce off us working in the yard. At least a few times each day. But the nest is getting bigger fast.

Edit: Stupid thing keeps swapping nest for best. 🤦

Never used it on a spider bite. My Granny taught me that one. It immediately neutralizes the venom and the burning quits fast! We have a lot of spiders here. Thankfully I’ve never been bit.

We will be running AC here until about mid October. Then we will run heat at night and air during the day! The past three weeks have been the hottest so far, I mean miserable! This morning is gorgeous. It’s 70* and cloudy, unusual but I’ll take it!
It’s also nice to open up the house and allow some fresh air in. My grow appreciates it too!
We turn off the AC if outside is good enough to open windows. Airing out the basement helps with humidity too.

We just prefer open windows and breezes to AC. I can count on one hand how many times we used the AC in the last two cars.

Well, we couldn’t live without the AC here. It runs from mid May through mid October.
When I first came back home in the early 80’s, I did so as a homesteader and Pioneer. So, I have lived here w/o AC, and without running water and no electricity…but I hope to never do it again! I just needed to know I could live without modern conveniences. I needed that knowledge..got it and now I’m done. Looking back, my life has been pretty interesting. I’m just blessed!

I noticed you & your husband were having some health issues, so hopefully the nicer weather will help in your healing!

I just got used to it as a kid. No AC until I was in my 20’s. I still remember huge box fans in windows.

We had a lot of trees that shaded the house too. Trade off was hardly any grass in the back yard under the canopy but we used the space daily until winter.

My wife likes her comforts but the increase to house bills just ticks her off. Rates keep climbing at an unjustified amount.

We are at the point where we can use it when we need too, but prefer to wait until then.

If I’d made it to living up north like I’d planned I’d suffer through just for the freedom and surroundings. Then start saving for the luxuries.

You’re blessed. I’m sure you’ve worked hard for what you have. These are the years you should be enjoying it.

Thanks! The Hubby had back surgery, he’s doing great! I’m doing great too! The cooler weather is for sure a blessing. Our entire area was ready for a break.
I’m tearing down, cleaning and putting my grow room back together today and will be able to open windows in there while I do it.
Hope all is well in your part of the country!

I’m for sure enjoying it ❤️
Things I’ve learned from this time? You work your whole damn life to obtain things and then spend the last fourth of it trying to get rid of that shit! I wanted to leave my children a legacy, they call my house a museum and somehow..I don’t like that. lol.
My only advice to them is do not sell my paintings etc at a yard sale!
So, feck it..imma grow cannabis, smoke it, enjoy it and watch the secluded life I have built myself roll on by..that’s the good stuff ❤️

another beautiful day here too!! 74 right now and a nice breeze.. almost feel like i need long sleeves!! hahaha

gotta run out for some work today, not much.. easy stuff. stop at the grocery store on the way home and should be back by five!!

gonna get real cool tonight, i can't wait!!! hope the cold air cools down my broody chicken.. poor thing has had here hormones in a bunch for a couple weeks now. she needs to get some sun and exercise!!!

at least she's not a mean one, but she sure wasn't happy with me today... hahaha

.

Happy Friday Everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
;hd ;hd ;hd ;hd ;hd

I’m almost afraid to say it out loud. It’s been a beautiful day. 😳😇

23* in the shade and in the house. Basement is 21-22. AC is off. Chores done. Family is together. Gardening done. Joints rolled. Pizza already made just need to warm up. Haunted Banana bed with Purple Diesel hash passed around and finished. We’re good. 👍

YES, bea-U-tiful day!

got a little chilly tonight! it's like summer just dropped off the face of the earth without notice. felt like fall today

got to give nephew his first bicycle today (6 yo birthday party) TMNT bicycle w/ training wheels, we don't have kids, so it's everything to see other kids happy, especially family

at b-day party, cousin (not b-day kids parents) said she got a dog for her kids cause they said they would be responsible, we know how that goes..
now she and the kids are okay with giving away this cute 10 week golden doodle puppy for free with all shots to a good home..
I wish we could have pets where we live

anyone on East Coast interested who is a big animal lover????

If the pup is 10 weeks how old was it when it was adopted? Couldn’t have been but a couple weeks ago. Sorry to say but that was a bad decision out the gate. Got to feel bad for the pup. They don’t choose to be where they are. I’ll leave it at that.

Willow was a Covid dog. Bought by a 50 year old lady laid off over Covid. Lived with her 80 year old mom. After all the Covid BS died down she got called back to work. Her mom was to old to look after Willow. So after a few weeks of this she started looking for a home to give her too. Family friends heard about it and hooked us up.

Some people don’t think ahead. See this with young parents too. Living things aren’t play toys and they can be a lot of work.

Yeah it's bs... Kids say they want dog, say they will be responsible, then i heard her oldest who wanted the dog say "why do I have to walk him again, why is it always me?" It's like that's what responsibility is, not just when it's convenient. Yeah it sucks cause it's not a toy, it's a pup who needs love. They only had for 2 weeks i think and Mom is done. If it were my kids... Fuck i wouldn't be having that shit, i don't agree with giving up when things get tough, not a good example by bailing them out of this. Oldest is 15, she is the one that wanted a dog mom said.

I wish we could adopt but no pets here. Speaking of, just did my orientation at SPCA yesterday to do some volunteering.
I totally agree with you

Oh btw i went to go hit that trail off your road the other day .. after i paid the parking fee i found that the trail is completely overgrown, unrideable, unwalkable. Oh well, maybe next year

Morning everyone!!!

Idk why i keep playing this song in the morning when i make coffee for over a week, never heard it until stranger things,

Got a nice picatinny scope mount for one of my .308 rifles.

Got the old rear mount off with just a little heat. But the front mount won’t budge even with flame applied for a minute.

Broke three Allen key style Torxs, two Torx bits, and bent three Torx T10 impact bits. (No impact gun used. YET!)

It seems it’s a known issue that they come over tightened. So now I’m afraid of shearing off the heads. At least they are good screws, no stripping so far.

I applied 3-1 penetrating oil from the bottom, inside the receiver, and left upside down over night. Still just bending the bits. IMG_5664.jpeg

Keeping my eye out for a rod I can heat red and appply to the top of the screw, let it transfer then try again. No gun smiths left in the city either. Mayor chased them out with new bylaws and rules a couple decades back.

😤

Summer is already basically over here weather wise, if this is like the previous three summers I've been here I'll be pulling the air conditioner out of the window in less than 2 weeks...
4th year in a row! We're at least a couple weeks ahead of Boston here, a couple of hundred miles north makes a big differenceScreenshot_20250805_103415_Weawow.jpg

We've had some nice weather since the 1st of July and were in a drought now. Water restrictions all across the province and no burning anywhere. View attachment 110239
Wow that sucks! we haven't had much rain but it's supposed to rain this weekend

Don't have water restrictions but some folks Wells run dry around this time of year, as far as I know mine never has but I water my garden very gingerly just around the base of the plants

We had a few days that were great but still no rain. I doubt Wednesday will happen but they say next Monday is 60%, which will be about three weeks since our last little shower. But they haven’t been right often this year. IMG_5660.jpeg
