Zen’s Winter Run 2025

I have used the wand three times now so about an hour or better in total usage and it is still showing fully charged so have no idea how long battery lasts between charges.
After my testing the top light was off iirc. I charged it again and used it once to water the plants, about two litres. I’ll keep an eye on usage.

Your local pet store that sell fish should carry the valve a couple dollars to purchase.
No fish store around in years. But I have three major hardware stores and a CT. I’m good. 😂

You cut your line in half so take a piece of it when you go to get proper fit. I am using the whole lenght 16 feet of hose your using 8 dont no if that has any impact on flow rate.
That’s the plan. I’ll cut off another 6”-12” and bring it with me.

Shorter should be better in most cases but we’re not talking any major difference or gravity involved. But I also want the valve to let me run the pump dry quickly so I don’t waste any nutes if/when added.

I have two 7.5L jugs with 2.5” openings. I toss the filter in and lose about a foot. The rest should be plenty without having to fill extra tubing or need to drag it around. If I do need more length I can use the valve as a coupling or just pick one up.

But I still need to test for a couple of weeks to see about keeping it.

I mix a 5 gallon pail at a time as im feeding 8 plants. I need the 16 foot lenght to reach my plants from pail. When using nutes i flush the line and wand for about 30 seconds with clean water when done. Dont no if i need to but it doesnt hurt to keep wand clean.

@Stoneyluv the test results of my rain barrels and city tap water.

Rain barrel 25-28ppm & 6.82PH
IMG_7226.jpegIMG_7229.jpeg
IMG_7231.jpeg

City water 158-203ppm & 7.26PH
IMG_7227.jpeg
IMG_7228.jpeg
IMG_7234.jpeg

That was unexpected.

The barrel water has had green algae form over the summer just sitting a week or two outside. But it is brown by the end of two weeks.

It does say to keep clean and dry. I pull out the filter and put the head over the jug and run until dry, we’ll until it stops spitting.

20251027: GM & GGB#4

The original GM is doing great. The runt is holding on, getting new leaves, has good colour.

The GGB#4 is doing okay except for colour. All the plants are in the same soil mix except the sunflower. I added 5ml/g ProCal and 1 TBSP/g Epsom to the water and also gave them a quick foliar spray last night and hour before lights out.

IMG_7236.jpeg

The clones not doing great but I didn’t expect it to. But the difference between the two cannabis strains is a concern. I wasn’t planning to feed yet. I was hoping I could top and then up pot them all by the end of the month. Now I need to wait until this deficiency is resolved.

Besides the ProCal and Epsom I can add some fresh worm castings. That’s usually a 2:0:0 bump to N.

Temperatures have been lower over night but not below 22* in the tent. Lights on it’s holding at 26*-28*. Humidity ranges from 55%-70%.

Used the battery sprayer last night. Tightened the blue shower spray head so it was more of a mist. That seemed to have better results. No mess and better control in these smaller pots. It even allowed me to do the sunflower and runt without causing a mess or damage.

Plants are happy and the worm castings and epsom foliar spray might be helping. They look darker too me but that could be wishful thinking.

I took down the last of the garden on the weekend. Bagged the soil for next year and stored the crates. The last harvest of the year. IMG_7260.jpeg

The wife and I made it to 11pm before turning off the game. It was 4-4 at the time. I hear the final was 5-6 LA. 😞IMG_7269.jpeg

Ya I couldn't watch after 2 nothing LA 10:30pm brain wanted to shut down. I did watch the highlites this AM, that was exiting too. Ump hated Bj's , BS highball strikes .

I'm think I'm feeling some effects from my 2 head whacks, I gotta see a Dr tomorrow. headaches, fog, a bit of nausea, memory took a shit on me. Chess rating has gone from 1550 to 1350, some pressure between my ears. Something ain't right. I hate moving into winter, Leaves almost all gone, daylight savings next week, dark and grey here we go.....That doesn't help my brain issues and maybe a % of what I'm feeling...

Anyways my crop is almost done and she's a beauty for a change after my last batch it'll be nice to have seedless weed again.

We watched most of last nights game but didn’t see the win. We saw the final on the 5am news, 6-2.

Get to the doctors man. Head injuries can be bad. Even your new friendly AI said; “You likely have a concussion (mild traumatic brain injury). You should treat this as potentially serious — get medical evaluation today.“

But seriously see your family doctor asap. You definitely have a concussion with those symptoms.

Yeah I get seasonal depression as well, mine starts in September and goes until the end of March.

Nice. I’ve got enough stock I can let the plants grow without pushing them. See what they do with just a topping or two. I’m thinking two small bushes per tent.

Your plants look great. Almost always do. If it wasn’t for the occasional seed outbreak you’d have perfect runs. Part of that is failing eyesight I’m sure. I’m missing the occasional naner myself but luckily I only get a few seeds. Most of the time I’ll save these for future grows if I like the smoke.

Take care of yourself bud. I still got to send you those cats. We’ve still only received the one piece of government mail. No bills or letters, just local flyers. Are you getting mail yet?

Looking good today. I think the GGB#4 is looking better. More green in my opinion. IMG_7308.jpeg

I’ll give them one last foliar spray but I top fed more castings to boost the N. I might make a tea to spray and water in.

The runt it growing more leaves. I’ve left it in the shade of the other GM intentionally for now.

Sunflower is doing fine and the clone I’ll leave until the weekend before checking.

Ya, I see him today, its been at least 3 weeks since my last head whack its funny / odd I feel concussion symptoms now. We watched the game up until 6-2 in the 7th then saw the reply this am. it gets too late for me, specially with my head aching now. It feels like my heads been rung, you know after you get knocked out there's a foggy feeling for a while but it usually disappears the next day.....its not disappearing.

Anyways did you see that pic I posted about drying in my box with a radiator / chiller coils? Do you think that would help cool my box using my chiller through the radiator coils & maybe a fan behind the coils? Do you see any issues that may arise? A drip pan maybe?

I fed 2/2/2/4/2/1 last night so my feed has dropped a lot. maybe 1 more light feed in 2 days - 1/1/1/2/2/1 then water only until I chop. I used to run Florakleen through at the end but last harvest I poured out some from a 1 gal jug and it had mold growing on its surface. The jug is a few years old I guess it doesn't last for ever

Head, back, muscles… they all can pop up later. But I admit I’ve avoided the doctors after an accident. It’s cost me.

We have been turning the game off by 11pm. Wife gets up no later than 4am and usually around 3am.

Last score I saw was 3-1 Jays iirc. Just saw on the news now that we won 5-1! One more to go!!!

I know the head bang fog you mean. Sometimes it comes with a ringing in your head. Things are off and you feel strange. Sort of a dream/drunk mix.

I hope the doc puts you right. What if he says no smoking for a week? 😳

Yes I did see it. Reminded me of when computer people started using water/fish tanks to cool CPUs. It worked and later became refined in modern heat sinks.

It’s not my area of expertise. The heat transfer works in theory but I’m not sure if it’s worth the effort in practice. A CPU generates a lot of heat. How much will actually be generated in the cooler?

Under the radiator/coils a drip pan wouldn’t hurt. Shouldn’t be much condensation but I don’t know how damp your basement is in the winter.

Is this acting more like a dehumidifier does or a heat sink?

@stonemason did something similar to make his drying fridge or humidor. He can probably tell you what worked best for him or what he’d change.

Mine should be enjoying the nutes in the soil now. My efforts with foliar spray and adding a bit more worm castings seems to be helping the GGB#4. Just waiting on the runt now.

I’ve never finished with a cleanser. I sometimes water them out the last week or so. Sort of a flush. Have you ever skipped that stage to see if it makes a difference?

Look forward to hearing from you today. See what the doc said.

Says it’s 6* outside with scattered rain showers. Feels like 0* and damp. Not a good day but the suns not up yet.

Most of my morning pics are from the night before. But today I’m checking the GGB#4 colour. IMO is much better.
IMG_7332.jpeg
IMG_7326.jpeg

Some wrinkles in the leaves from all the foliar spraying and the high humidity. Shouldn’t be a problem.

The Grease Monkey plants.
IMG_7329.jpeg

The GG Berry #4 are looking good. Colour is much better now. IMG_7330.jpeg

The GM runt is still trying. Should be at the five finger stage but might throw three fingers again.IMG_7327.jpeg

Sunflower is happy. It’s in just soil, used maybe.IMG_7328.jpeg

Weekend plans include topping the GGB#4 and deciding what to do with the GM. The big one might get LST clips. The runt might go back to the nursery, stretch it out a bit with the weaker light.

When feeding the worms yesterday morning I found these cucumber seedlings standing up! 🤣IMG_7316.jpeg

I even considered planting them for a minute but they need too much room.

I also started the worm castings tea with fresh castings. I added forest soil too for the extra biology. A bit of molasses and chopped up potato was added. Haven’t checked it since I made it.IMG_7311.jpeg

That’s about it for this week. The clone’s about 7 days in the shotglass so I don’t expect to see anything for another week. But I honestly don’t expect it to make it. It’s gotten as cold as 20* at lights out in the tent once or twice.

There's no CPU it would just be chilled water running through the coils. These may work better I'm not sure which way to go. I have the chiller I just thought I could use it to chill my dry box without it getting too expensive.1761829061814.png

I know you don’t have a CPU. I meant that was the last time I saw or tried to do something like what you are suggesting. Computer geeks did that stuff in the 90’s. Usually with fish tanks.

I mentioned Stonemason as he used fans and a heat sink to deal with things when he modified his DIY dryer. He has a drain hole at the bottom to deal with moisture.

You already circulate air with a fan so removing humidity is what I would think is the priority. I don’t really see that happening with the radiator idea.

What about a tray at the bottom that has a bunch of moister absorbing packs? Maybe 58% Boveda packs if you don’t have the other type?

I use the ones that come with new electronics and stuff in my gun safe for extra damp protection. I just put them in the sun in the summer to dry out. You can bake or use the microwave to dry as well.

I also have this which is the same thing in a plastic case you can plug in to dry it out faster. You can see the orange silicone beads in the window.IMG_7347.jpegIMG_7348.jpegIMG_7349.jpg

Home Depot carries these which is like the packs I save/collect.IMG_7350.jpeg

This help any or are you in love with the other idea?

I do this every time I have a crop to dry, then forget about it until the next crop.I don't have issues in my dry box with humidity as is. My basement stays 60% ish, we have a return air system that circulates fresh air in and captures some exhausted heat on the way out with a controller I can adjust to 40-50-60% and with my exhaust fan in the dry box it maintains 60% pretty good.

Its temp I can't adjust, wife and cats can't take the 60% ish I'd need so everything drys in 66-70f I'd like to drop a few so I was pondering the radiator thing or the peltier thingy so I thought this.
1761834617552.png
The little rad is I think 6x8 in?? maybe 6x4" so 2 of them but I've lost the link to the dam things. I searched last night on aliexpress and I can't find them. I initially found them when looking at these things1761834908288.png
But I have a chiller, so do I need the peltier thing or would a rad and my chiller work same????? is my thoughts....I'll order one or the other. I gotta try something to help dry better

I'm confused, conflicted or both I just want to chill...lol
1761847965775.pngWith my chiller or alone? giver power or just run through a radiator/condenser coil....Do these units work as stand alone chillers, just add power and water or do I need to chill water first? Do they work???? my brain isn't helping I just get a headache.....

Ah, its my education that was lacking, I was looking at these things as if I was supplying the cold.....ah no, the water lines at to remove the heat off the thermo electric plates, the 12v supplies the cold. All stop , rethink

That’s why I mentioned the fish tank. It’s the reservoir. It’s what keeps things cool. The heat sink gets hot and the water circulates to cool it.

But you want a chiller. The radiator idea might help with that but you still need a res and a pump.

The heat sinks aren’t going to do any good. They aren’t going to suck up any heat IDT. They are used mostly on chips or electronics that get hot fast and need to quickly dissipate heat. Ty don’t have that much heat to deal with. But it might work.

This used to be a fridge. You bought it new so I hope it works. Use the fridge to cool things. Hook it up to a thermostat that turns on or off depending on the temperature.

Am I high or does this not solve the problem? I did just vape so maybe. 🤔
