A new dawn.

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this seriously dark rainy morning, hope your all well. :) Late writing this as I had to help out a buddy for a couple of hours this morning, so a little bit behind. :) Starting with the quarter of keif in the cold jar, its not a pretty sight, if it was a coffee some one had made for you, you would tip it into the nearest plant pot while nobody was looking, poor plant, perhaps that's why people that make crap or cheap coffee always have sick looking house plants, so if your house plants look ill, then treat your guests to better quality coffee. 😁 There is a silt in the bottom of the jar, so maybe dust from the shaking process or keif that's not broken down yet, time will tell. (y)

The Jar straight from the fridge.

You can see the silt in the bottom of the jar.

Only one thing to do, and that's give it a shake, you can now see that coffee in the house plant look about it. 😊
20251129_094816.jpg

On to some thing else. Finally got some seeds sorted out, and these are the seeds I'm going to run for this next grow. (y)
First up is the Aurora Indica from Nirvana, a nice all round smoke, good hit, nice taste if you toke it, an all time favourite of mine over the years, and if you've not ran it before, then give it a go. (y)

S0 (5).jpg

Chocolate Skunk is next in the line up, first grew this in 2019, so a bit of old seed. First grew it along side Moshman when we were on the farm, he grew the Autoflower version of it, and I grew the photo. :)
S0 (2).jpg

S0 (6).jpg

Gorilla Glue is my next choice, another legend that needs no introduction. 👌 Think it was a freebee, or gifted by a buddy.🤘 I remember this strain when it was cutting only option, back in the days of Mr Tight, a major inspiration to a wave of new indoor growers, don't know if he's still growing, hope he's fit and still at it. :)
S0 (3).jpg

S0 (7).jpg

Sweet Valley Kush. This is another old seed of about the same age as the Choc Skunk, so may also bomb out. 🤞
S0 (4).jpg

S0 (8).jpg

So we are off, seeds planted, not all are of an age quality and may not pop, but it won't be the first time I had to add lib, and we know it won't be the last, because that's just how I grow. 😁 There are people a lot more dedicated than myself, but after the best part of 20 years posting online on various sites and forums, I now treat it as a bit of fun, done the technical, scientific, and a whole bunch of fads and theories in the past, still interested in new tech and forms of growing, but now I just grow to amuse my self using the plant it and hope method, and find it less of a stress and more enjoyable. :) That's where team Chemistry is at the minute, first gear, and on the move. 😁 So will the stuff in the jar melt away? Will any of these older seeds pop, or even the newer seeds, well, you'll just have to nip back next week and find out, until then, just keep tokin folks. (y)

Pretty sure chocolate skunk from that breeder was one of the first things I grew when I got back into it in 15, unfortunately I can't remember it, hope it pops!

It was very popular around then, zero zero had some good strains, I remember it being a nice toke, nice taste too, can't remember what it looked like flowered out, don't know if I've any pics, if I can find one I'll post it. Did you rate the plant?

Found this pic, not the best, think its 2019, as I only used the camera for grow pics to stop my phone getting sticky, so all the pics show a 2015 date stamp, may have been earlier.

If this last seed does as well. :)

I don't remember it at all if I'm honest, when I came back after quitting in 97 I was looking for real Skunk #1 which I had been growing previously, so I bought a lot of Skunk #1 and Skunk variants from various breeders and I'm pretty sure that was one of them

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull foggy December morning, hope your all well. :) Well, all the seeds have popped, even the Chocolate Skunk, which, as I said, I have no idea when I bought these seeds, they are old, so I'm impressed that it has popped, a very good start on this strain. 👍 The other seeds have also popped and are pushing towards the sun. ☀️ So all are off to a good start. The cold jar with the quarter of kief in it is still the same colour with the same amount of sediment in the bottom. I've attacked it twice with the coffee frother to stop it sticking to the bottom of the jar, don't know if this is better than stirring it the old fashioned way with a spoon, but if the tech is there, then we may as well use it. 😁 I'm not a big fan of rock wool, as it takes an age to compost, and as a gardener I like things that can be returned to the soil and vanish into nutrients, to feed either my outdoor garden or the local wildlife. 👌 But I was given these by a buddy who had them kicking around his green house, so we are growing in rock cubes this run. I've found rockwool to be brilliant for cuttings, but no so good for seeds, as I've had seeds sprout and get tangled in the wool, to the detriment of the seedlings.

I like to start my seeds in a cloche, keeps them damp. 👍 As you can see in the pic, the seeds are growing at a different rate to each other, the Aurora and Gorilla are the newest seeds of the four, in age, the Gorilla is the newest, followed by the Aurora, then the Sweet Valley Kush, and lastly the Chocolate Skunk, so we may have a seed age experiment to follow, some thing different I suppose. 😁 Granted, some people will have state of the art seed storage rooms, so their seeds won't suffer the same fate as mine, but I don't, mine are stored in a black tub with a plastic bag round it, and that is as high tech as I go. 👍

The cloche. I was asked by a buddy why I grow in a vat of clay pellets. This is purely for drainage and to hold the pots upright when the plants become tree's. (y)

The Cold Jar. Not a lot to look at, still looks the same as last week, hope its a better hitter than a looker. 😁 This is the settled liquid. (y)
W3.jpg

The seedlings have popped, and the cold jar is still doing its thing in the fridge, two more weeks and I'll assemble the buddies (guinea pigs) for another testing session, and we will see how it turns out, don't you just love having willing buddies. 🤣 And that is what's happening in this patch of the world, for another update, and to find out which seedling is top dawg, you'll have to be here next Saturday to find out, until then, just keep tokin folks.(y)

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this cold but very sunny Saturday morning, hope your all well. 😎 The seedlings have gone on a growth spurt this week, so much so that they are have been planted into their permanent homes. The Chocolate Skunk has not grown any at all, don't think it will make it unless it starts to make some sort of leaf growth. 🙁 The other three are doing really well and are on their way to becoming the tree's we all desire. 🤘 The Cold Jar has not changed since last week visually, still looks like a jar of stale coffee, 😁 So I won't bore you with another pic of it. 🤣 Next week will see the jar strained anyway, and that's its month in the fridge done, that went fast, looking forward to testing it, just in time for Christmas. :) Lets check out this weeks pics. :)

Sweet Valley Kush, looking a bit narly, good reason to use new seed maybe.
S2 (3).jpg

Chocolate Skunk. Doesn't look to have changed since last week, and definitely not keeping up with the other seedlings, the outlook is grim for this little popper. Don't know why its struggling, as normally if they pop the rock.

While I was giving the Cold Jar a shake, it struck me that the sediment in the bottom of the jar may not be trykes, and may be sediment from dust or powdered leaf, and might not dissolve even if left for another month. We will have a firckle round in the sievings next week and see, I don't expect sieved trykes to be pure trykes, as there must be dust molecules the same size as the trykes that will pass through the sieve, next week we will see, might even drag out the microscope and have a look at the debris if I have the time. 🧑‍🔬 Short and sweet this week. 🙂 If you fancy a firckle round in the sievings of the latest cold jar of green dragon currently living in my fridge, then you'll have to pop back next week and have a look. Also, will the Chocolate Skunk bring its self to push out a leaf, who knows, I will endeavour to bring you the answers. until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull foggy morning, hope your all well. :) This is the third week for the seedlings since they sprouted from seed, and on the whole they all look ok, apart from the Chocolate Skunk which has remained the same, not dead, but no further growth, I thought it would have produced a leaf by now, however minor, but no, not grown a millimetre in three weeks, still green though, so may still be in with a chance, you never know. :) The second struggler is the Sweet Valley Kush, still a bit squirrely, but it seems to be turning its self around. 👍 The Aroura Indica and the Gorilla Glue are doing well, both seem strong seedlings, stronger than the other two from the older seed from 2019'ish. If I've learnt anything from this grow, its that my seeds only last a couple of years in my storage facility (black bag in a plastic container with snap on lid)😁 I've strained the Amnesia Lemon in the cold jar, came out a quite clear liquid compared to the past jars with the bud in it, maybe using just the trykes over the bud is a cleaner way to go about making green dragon, quite a bit more messing about the achieve the same result, is it worth it? If you suffer stomach upsets due to the green element, then I would say it is, but for me maybe not, unless its a better hit, then I'm all over it. 🤣 We will see. This weeks pics. 🙂

The Cold Jar.
Sieved through muslin as normal.

Scraped from the muslin for further investigation. 🙂
20251219_091428.jpg

After a bit of drying/evaporation the sediment turned powdery. 🤔
20251220_085033.jpg

The liquid was a little bit murky after the sieve.
20251219_091623.jpg

So I left it for a hour to settle, much clearer, to the point where you can see through it. 👌
20251220_091641.jpg

And that is as far as I have got with the jar at the moment, I'll get the loupe or the microscope out and have a look at the dust from the sieve, just wondering what it consists of. 🧑‍🔬 That's the plants and the jar updated. Will the Chocolate Skunk produce a leaf and strive to become a tree like its pot mates, I don't know, but I'll find out this week, and as soon as I do, I'll let you know. Got some buddies coming round to test the new jar of Amnesia Lemon this evening, so we'll find out if its any good buzz wise, got plenty of munchies in, and enough beer to float a medium sized boat. Want to know more, you know the score, until next week, just keep tokin folks. 👍

How did the test go last night?

Test went well, really well, every one that took part were well and truly battered, my self included. 😁 The dragon was twice as strong as the bud made tincture, which was a bit of a shock, as I thought it would only be a shade more intoxicating than the bud, but it blew me away, in a nice way, couldn't stop eating. 🤣 I'm already wondering what half an ounce of hash will hit like, next time maybe. 🤣

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this cold rainy December morning, hope your all well. :) Did you all have a wonderful Christmas day with the ones you hold dear, and ate and drank to much, I hope so. 👍 The plants are heading towards becoming trees, so next week we will stop calling them seedlings and head into week one of veg. 👍 I have to say, I'm starting to lose faith in the Chocolate Skunk, as it just has not grown any at all, don't know why as I thought it had turned a corner, but no, its still the same size, good colour green, but still no leaves, can't see how it can survive much longer as a seed leaved sprout, surely it will die off at some stage, if I had another grow space I would throw it into flower just to see if it would go for it, but I don't so it could be on borrowed time, shame, as I was looking forward to growing this strain. 🙂 The other three, Gorilla, Aurora, and the Kush are loving life, so not a total disaster. 😁 So lets look at the pics and see how last week panned out for these bud busters. 😊

The Aurora Indica. Could have done with a bit more care in this busy run up to Christmas, but it will get better. 😁
S4 (1).jpg

Sweet Valley Kush. Starting to throw off its squirrelyness. 🙂
S4 (2).jpg

Gorilla Glue. Looking good.
S4 (4).jpg

Chocolate Skunk. Slightly behind the other seedlings, but still in with a shout, or a whisper. 🙂
S4 (6).jpg

Other things. I managed to find time to get the microscope out, bought it cheap at a yard sale on a whim, its not top notch, and is not very powerful, but it does the job, after a fashion. 😁 So I put the sievings from the cold jar under it, and this is what we found. 🙂 Took images at 10x, 20x, and 60x, no triches are visible in any of the images, so that means the alcohol did its job and dissolved all the triches, job done. All that's visible in the images is plant debris, bare in mind this debris is dust molecule sized particles, so the alcohol does its job very efficiently indeed, mini science lesson ended. 👍

Next weeks update will see us enter the new year, so if you want to know if the Choc Skunk make it into 2026, then join us next week and find out, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this chilly snowy morning, hope your all well. 🙂 Plants are doing well, all except the Chocolate Skunk, I wondered how long it could feed on its seed leaves, and now we know. The seed leaves went yellow, and with no other leaves to support it, there was only one out come, deceased. More room for the other three to grow on I suppose. 🙂 On to the three that are left, which are all going for it and looking green and mean, with no problems I can see, not to say there isn't one lurking there some were, just that I can't see it. 😁 I was looking at the Gorilla Glue which looks to have a massive lean towards a Sativa, and after looking at other past pics, which don't, I'm wondering if this is a potential light hugger, judging by the amount of Sativa in its make up, it might be a good idea to tune up the garden strimmer and sharpen the machete, or at least top it a couple of times, we'll find out in a couple of weeks when it goes for it. 👍 The Aurora Indica is more of how it should be, indica. 👌 The Sweet Valley Kush has a nice kush look about its leaves, so should grow into a nice plant. So it seems I have one of each this time around, a Sativa, Indica, and a Kush. I'm having a quite short veg period, can't see the point in vegging for a long period, as the plants become to big for my grow space, outdoors I would set them free, but indoors I don't have the luxury of a seven by seven foot space for each plant, so compact they have to be. 🙂 Pics.

What a difference a week makes, compared to last week the plants have doubled in size, this means they should double again in the coming week. Feeding will be upped with a dash of calmag now the plants are making a dash for the sun, think they need it to keep them on point. And that is where my garden is at the moment, shame about the Choc Skunk, it made a nice plant the last time I grew them, a favourite even. Just goes to show, its a skill in its self storing your best seeds, one I don't seem to have mastered, so in future I'll just have to buy less seeds in, or grow faster and not hog my favourites, another lesson learnt in this vast discipline we call growing. No cliff hangers this week, only that I think the Gorilla is going to take over, quite fast. 😁 Until next week, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this snowing at the minute, cold frosty snowy morning, hope your all well. 🙂 Plants are getting a bit straggly, this week may see them get a slight trim round just to keep them in shape, or you know what happens, rain forest arrives in your grow room. 😊 The Sweet Valley Kush is the smallest of the three plants, followed by the Aurora Indica, and then the Gorilla Glue being the tallest, the Gorilla is definitely the biggest plant in the trio, and I think this will become a candidate for light hugger of this run, think I'll top this one with in an inch of its life due to its sativaness. 😁 All three plants are looking a nice green, with big leaves, so feeding must be ok, went a bit shady at first, just before Christmas, but it looks like we are back on form. 👍 Pics.

Full team on display. You can see the size difference between them, the Gorilla is going to be a big monkey when it flowered out. 😁
V2 (8).jpg

And that's where we are here in my grow space, made a couple more jars from the Pineapple I grew last time, but I've documented that to death already, so no point in posting the results from that, again, think you've seen enough of jars. 🤣 So enjoy your weekend, what ever your up to, even if your snowed in. 🤣 Until next week, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull rainy morning, hope your all well. :) All three plants are doing fine, no deficiencies to shout about, all are a lovely green, in fact, if I was a deer and I came across these plants in your garden, I would eat the lot, you would wake up in the morning to bare stalks, yum yum. 😁 I sat there with a cup of coffee early this morning, looking at my plants, as you do, the fan gently blowing from side to side, and I thought, fuck it, I'm going to put these into flower. So out came the HPS, a quick wipe with a damp cloth to clean off the burnt leaves, sap, sticky trichs, and dust that was left over from the last light hugger. 😁 And we are good to go, just let the MH cool down, because, as you old timers know, these bulbs are hot enough to take skin off, and how many times have I nearly dropped a bulb when I'm burning, and you cant put them down on any thing or it gets burnt, these days, after years of juggling, I let them cool. 👍 So the bulb is swapped out, timer reset, don't know how many times I checked the timer. 🙂 Flicked the switch, boom, and its Summer in the grow space, and we bid farewell to the piercing Spring blue glow of the Metal Halide, hello eight weeks of Summer, or more if you have any Sativa doms. 🙂 Going to try and keep on top of these three plants, they've been topped a couple of times just to take the height out of them, or not. 🙂 More for the Sativa dom Gorilla Glue, as I can see this plant taking over if I don't beat it into some sort of shape, or nail it down. 😁 Pics. not always the best under HPS, but I'll do my best. 🙂

So what will these plants turn into over the next couple of weeks of stretch, the Gorilla Glue is the biggest, so I expect it to take over its side of the grow space. The Sweet Valley Kush is the next tallest, not as wide as the Aurora, but taller. The Aurora is the smallest plant, maybe it will catch up in flower, would be nice if it over took the Kush, as it seems like its getting buried by the others, we will see. 🙂 So if you would like to see these plant after their first week of flower, then pop back next week and I'll show you. 👍 Until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this sunny Saturday morning, hope your all well. 😎 Week one of flower has passed, and the plants are preparing to go for it, into the stretch period, no sign of flowers at the moment, some times plants flower in the first week, most show signs of flower in the second, so it looks like these are second week flowerers. 🙂 The Aurora Indica is turning out to be a flat topped type, while the Sweet Valley Kush seems a tight straight type, the Gorilla Glue is a tall spreading type of plant, the other two won't catch it up in size or spread, in fact, the Gorilla is the problem child of the three, would have made a very good scrog plant on its own, I'd bet it would fill a 5x5 tent easily. No defs showing at the minute, just waiting for the plants to tell me they need more Potassium as they start week two of flower, no sign as yet, but I'm expecting to up it in the next week, keeps them munching. 🙂 Pics.

Week one is gone, lets see what this week brings. Updates seem to get shorter every week. 😁 Until next week, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this damp sunny morning, hope your all well. 😎 Week two of flower has passed, and week three started at lights on this morning. Got some good stretch this week, plants are turning into trees, the Gorilla Glue being the main culprit, as its twice the height of the other two, its going to be a light hugger I can see that already, and its been topped twice. 🙂 Plants have good colour and flowers are starting to become obvious and looking like flowers. I've upped the Potassium, not because of a def, but more to avoid one. 👍 Pics.

Aurora Indica. Medium sized leaves for an Indica.
F3 (16).jpg

F3 (14).jpg

Sweet Valley Kush. Broad leaved plant compared to the other two.
F3 (4).jpg

F3 (13).jpg

Gorilla Glue. Seems a very Sativa based plant compared to other Gorilla's I've grown in the past, which seemed to have more Indica in them. Another thing with this Gorilla is the amount of flower it has, double what the other two plants have, it has the looks of a week four plant. 🙂
F3 (7).jpg

F3 (11).jpg

What will the Gorilla Glue produce on the flower front next week, seems to be twice the plant the Aurora and Sweet Valley are, hopefully this will make for bigger buds when its flowered out, we will have to wait and see. I'll bet it needs staking to keep it from falling over, no bad thing, just makes the plant look scruffy. 😁 So as we end the stretch period, will the Indica and Kush catch up with the Gorilla and make more muff, find out next week, here on Budbuilders, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this bright but wet Saturday morning, hope your all well. Today we start week four of flower, every thing is fine apart from the problem ape, while looking over the plants I discovered a herm bud, not open, but there any way. After a good herm hunt I managed to pick off five in total, not quite a grow destroyer, but enough to maybe produce seeds on all three plants. :cautious: Not that this is a big problem to me as I don't smoke my weed any more, so no joint or bong explosions destroying my soft furnishings, or setting fire to the sofa, or cooky burning my favourite shirts. 🤣 Due to my method of intake I can pick out the seeds, so no worries, just would prefer no seeds unless they are planned. 🙂 The other two plants are fine and loving life, so no problems there. 👍 Looking at the plants characteristics, the Sweet Valley Kush has a really strong stem on it for its size, would be a nice plant to cross with another more wispy stemmed strain to thicken up the new strains stems. The Aurora Indica looks like its growing according to form, just like all the other Aurora's I've grown in past, but this strain has been around a long while so it should be stable. 🙂 This Gorilla Glue seems to me to be more Sativa based than the first plants I saw, which was nearly twenty years ago though, when Mr Tight grew them. Back then they were cuttings only as there were no seeds available like there is today, people were going mad for cuttings, sent through the post in jars with built in battery LED lights to keep them going in the post, don't know if this is still happening, strange how things move on over time. 🙂 Pics.

If you look under the flower you can see the herm flower bud, and another in the top left corner on another stem. 🫤
F4 (10).jpg

Apart from the Gorilla's foray into seed production we are still on course for a nice harvest, unless the other plants have rebellion on their minds. 😁 So what does week four hold in store for us, wish I knew, and there is still only one way to find out, and that is? Pop back next week and find out, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this frosty but very sunny morning, hope your all well. 😎 Here we are starting week five of flower, we're still mean and green with no defs which is the main goal in this period of the plants life cycle, flowers are gold as they say. :) None of the other two plants have produced herm flowers like the Gorilla Glue, no bad thing, means that any seeds the Aurora or Sweet Valley produce are from the Gorilla putting its self out there, no seeds are evident, but its still early, so some thing to look out for a little later in flower. 👍 All in all the grow is going well and I'm happy with it, only down side was losing the Chocolate Skunk, doing that at seedling stage is probably the best out come if you have to lose one, that way, if you have another plant waiting to go into flower then you can replace your lost seed or seedling with that. 👍 This is the week that I enjoy the best when it comes to flower, I like the next two weeks where the flowers are at peak muff, 😁 probably this week and next will be peak flower, five and six, so looking forward to this part of the plants life. 👍 Pics.

And another update is added to my grow log. 👍 Its amazing how fast we can achieve a large sized archive, even my self, as I only really post once a week, and as I was flicking through the back pages, it didn't take long before I'd spent another hour reading and remembering past grows, how time passes. 😁 Anyway, I have things to do, so if your passion is growing things, and you just can't help your self, then pop back and see how much muff these ladies put out over the next couple of weeks, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this rainy Saturday morning, hope your all well. :) This morning at sun up we started week six. I have to say that the scent from these babes, and I'm glad I only have three plants, is quite alarming as it's still illegal to grow cannabis here, although its not a hanging offence, no one likes to get their collar felt. 😊 Apart from that we are all good, and cruising to victory, three more weeks and we should know what we will end up with, roughly. 🙂 There is a massive difference in bud size, the Gorilla Glue buds dwarf the buds on the other two plants, the next biggest being the Aurora Indica which is the shortest of the trio. The Sweet Valley Kush is second tallest, but has the smallest buds, this may change in the next three weeks, but normally by week the end of week six the plants have set out their stalls, we will see. 🙂 Pics.

Gorilla Glue, not quite a light hugger, but its doing its best. 😁

We should see the buds fatten up a bit, seeds if there are any, should start to show, I doubt I picked every herm flower before they opened, I'll be shocked if I have, as you always miss at least one. 🤣 Don't know what its been like in your neck of the woods this Winter, but its been dark and wet all Winter here, its been an absolute pleasure to open the grow space and be greeted by wall to wall bright orange sunshine, even if it is HPS driven. ☀️ So, if you would like to see how this week goes, then pop back next week and find out, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this quite rainy Saturday morning, hope your all well. 🌧️ Week seven has arrived, nannar spotting starts, not seen any signs of any, more so with the Gorilla Glue which put out the herm flowers, as it may have a last gasp attempt to make some seed, eyes are pealed. 👀 Still no defs, the odd leaf is curling a little, and a bit of roast on the Gorilla Glue buds closest to the light, other than that we are all good. Plenty of muff being produced so I'm expecting good sized buds on all three plants. The Gorilla Glue is true to form with the big buds at the top that tend to pull your stems over, which is no big deal, just means they have to be tied up with a bit of string to a stake. 👍 If the Aurora Indica carries on as it is, it should produce some nice sized bud on it, this would be nice, as I find the Aurora's seem to produce small buds, potent, but small. Not that small is a problem, as I remember as a young toker, a friend brought me some weed wrapped up in news paper, the buds were the size of a squirels testicles on the stem, and not very appealing to the eye, my friend said give it a go, but as you know from the times in your past, that nine out of ten times you can tell the quality by looking, well times were hard, so I rolled a splif and fired it up, and with in ten minutes I was nailed to the chair I was sat in, and in typical stoner fashion, I had things to do. 🤣 So small buds are not the end of the world. 😉 Pics.

Aurora Indica. Got some good muff on them. 👍

Sweet Valley Kush. Doesn't look to be a big producer, we'll see what it looks like on the drying hangers, don't think it will fill a hanger, would like to be wrong though. 🙂

Slowly but surely we are getting there, once week seven is out the way we should cruise to harvest with out any major set backs. Looking at the pics, harvest will be around week ten, seems a long time, but as we all know, plants take as long as they need. 🙂 Don't know if the muff faze will carry on next week, or will we see the first signs of cinnamon hairs, only one way to find out. 😊 Until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull March morning, hope your all well. 🙂 Heading into week eight at lights on this morning, still no defs to report, plants seem to still be in the flower stage, still producing a fair bit of muff with no sign of cinnamon fronds, plants seem to be long flowering this run, as normally I'm seeing the muff revert to cinnamon fronds at around week six, not that I'm complaining, as it means more bud. 🙂 So no bad thing, just a little strange, but I was thinking this was a ten week flowering period, looks like I was a little bit out with my guess, good job I don't back the horses, or I'd lose my shirt. 🤣 One thing that stands out is the smell, these three plants together in the same space pong, a nice smell, just very strong, its times like this where you don't know whether to pat your self on the back or worry about a loud knock on your front door, at least its not a hanging offence. 😁 The only other thing of note is the plants between them are drinking two gallons every couple of days, been warm here, but not what I would call hot enough to create a thirst, the plants seem fine, so what ever they need. 👍 Pics.

So what will week eight bring, I'll take more flower, but cinnamon fronds would also be nice, either way I will be back next week to show you what happens, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all this morning, hope your all well. 🙂 Nearly didn't get to update, had real problems logging into the site the last couple of days, had to log in Not Secure, hope my Antivirus is up to the task, could do with out a virus. 😷 Lights on this morning started week nine of flower, and the cinnamon fronds have made an appearance, this signals an end to flowering, and over the next two weeks we will edge our way to harvest, so this week I'll have to dig around in the shed and find the metal hangers and three black buckets with click on lids. 👍 I have to say that after a near life time of growing, I lent towards glass sweet jars to cure and store my harvested buds, but these days I now use only food grade black buckets with the push on lids. In the old days your weed would smell strongly of plastic, you could taste it as you smoked a joint or toked on a pipe, but these days the food grade plastic seems as good as glass, better if you drop a stash, as there is no glass to clean up, as the plastic buckets just bounce. 🤣 And no light gets into the black buckets, which I also like. 👍 Pics.

Other things. There's a pond behind my house. A lot of wildlife lives in and around it, as most living things need to drink. I like to net dip the pond this time of year with the grand kids, this gets them educated to the lives and ways of our wild animals, this will help them look after it in the future when I'm gone, and hopefully preserve it all for future generations. 👍 Net dipping to those that have never done it, involves dipping a small net gently into the pond and see what you can fish out, its a good way to introduce the kids to the smaller entities that surround us. Apart from all the bugs and little fish I managed to net these two little creatures. They are listed as common, but becoming rarer all the time, they are Common Newts. 🙂

This is a male, you can see this from the orange red tail and under body, he is around two inches long, just coming out of hibernation.

This is the female. She is a drab brown, but if you pinch out the pic, you'll see she has some really nice markings. I use gloves to avoid removing the Newts protective coating.

We have two kinds of frogs, but this week they were hard to find, so I'll have a wander with the kids and see if I can get pics for you. 👍

And there you go, some thing different I suppose. 🙂 So if you want to see if I can track these frogs down, or even if you want to see what happens in week nine, then pop back next week. Until then, just keep tokin folks.👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this frosty but sunny morning, hope your all well. Week ten started, not long now until chop, most of the white hairs have been replaced by cinnamon fronds, so maybe another week, and down it comes. 👍 I was asked by a buddy which of these three strains I fancied the most to take a hit from, as a toker I would like a good bowl of the Sweet Valley Kush, its big budded and really frosty, that's not to say that the other two wont be a better hit, just that looks wise, the Sweet Valley Kush would catch my eye if I was window shopping at a bud store. 🙂 I know from growing the Aurora Indica in the past that a good strain of this plant will comatose you to the sofa. 😁 But as you old timers know, looks are not every thing, I've bought good looking gear in my youth and thought I had gold in my hands, only to find out I can't get off on it. 🤣 You live and learn folks. 🙂 I don't know what to make of the Gorilla Glue, it looks fluffy visually, but I'm sure it will have some tight bud on it when trimmed and dried, we will see. 👍 Pics.

Other things. I managed to get a pics of the frogs on the pond at the back of my house, not very good ones, they are at distance, and I think the frogs are being predated as they seem timid, which didn't make it easy to get pics, this is what I took. The dark frog on top of the lighter one is a marsh frog, the light green ones are common frogs. 👍

There we go, Saturday update, updated. If your still hungry for more, and wouldn't you be with such a quality grow log, then pop back next week and see what's happening, until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this warm windy sunny morning, hope your all well. This week see's us pull out the loppers and take down the tangled forest I've produce over the last few months. First down was the Gorilla Glue after removing the stakes I used to hold up this top heavy shrub looking plant. Past Gorilla Glues I've grown were spaced out buds along the stem, but this one seemed more like a Sativa based plant with out the bud spacing, took a little longer to finish flowering, so more Sativa in this strain. The Sweet Valley Kush was a spaced out budded plant and not very kush looking compared to more leafy types I've grown in the past, wonder if the seed vendor got the seeds mixed up? The Aurora Indica looks like past plants I've grown from this strain, with big buds at the top and smaller down the stem, so one out of three looks the part. 👍 All I've kept is the stems with the biggest buds, normally I would have kept the popcorn and sugar leaves for hash, but since I don't smoke any more, I gave it to a buddy to process. I find that the popcorn when placed in the oven to decarb it just burns of most of what I'm after, so only the big buds were saved. pics.

And there ends another grow, just got to get it dried and bagged up, then sort out some jars and get these plants tested, not the quick job it once was, as I can't pinch off a tester for the pipe. Once I've completed the drying process I'll decarb a quarter of each plant and start the Green Dragon jars, just in time for Summer. So if you want to see what I'm dunking in the jars, then pop back next week and see. Until then, just keep tokin folks. 👍

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull Saturday morning, hope your all well. :) Managed to get three quarters weighed out, one of each strain, to be de-carbed in the oven. Found a couple of seeds in each quarter, not that it matters as its not being smoked, so no joint poppers, or pipe exploders. 🤣 Nice looking seeds. 👍 Apart from the seeds the bud looks as frosty as it comes, with a strong scent that made me want to toke a bit. A buddy who did a smoke test for me said it hit well, and stunk his shed out, as he had toked it in his shed as it was raining at the time of the toke test. 🤣 I'll take that to mean it made the grade. 😁 Back to jars. You've seen all this before, so skip to the like section if you don't want to read about it again. 🤣 I use pound honey jars, as this is what I have laying around in my shed. To these I add a quarter of good bud, pre de-carbed at gas mark 2. 🙂

Jars with a quarter of each strain placed into them, and the Ethanol.
F12 (5).jpg

I just cover the buds with the alcohol, then give them a spin round with the coffee frother, then place the jars into the fridge. I then leave the jars for a month to do their thing. I've tested leaving the jars for one through to four weeks, and have found that I get the best hit and taste from four week jars, tried five and six week jars, but found no difference in hit or taste, so I've now settled on four weeks as my peak. 👌
F12 (6).jpg

And there you are, another grow journey very nearly complete, the jars will reside in the fridge until May to let the alcohol do its funky thing. Then the jars will be decanted into dropper bottles and are then ready to be used in a nice quality bean ground coffee. I've tried tea, but its not as good taste wise, so a cafetiere of coffee is the method I prefer. 👍 If your interested in the jar/strain/hit results then pop back in May. I must say a big thankyou to all the folks that read my grow ramble and for the views, likes, and comments, because with out them it makes the writing of these logs every week pointless. Keep liking, keep reading, and above all, just keep toking folks. 👍

I’ve thought about this a few times but i can’t find Ethanol up here. Half the search hits are for ISO which is annoying.

Regardless I enjoy your posts and the ideas it inspires. 👊

I get Golden Grain 190 proof alcohol at the liquor store.
When I was young it was as illegal as weed here in NY.
Times sure have changed.
I think here in VA it's not available, but is one state over in WV. Oh man i remember getting everclear as a kid to make some oobi dooby, basically Hawaiian punch and 190 proof alcohol, fuck man lol.

I used to drink bicardi 151 straight in my early 20s... Def can't do that anymore lol
They even took the 151 off Virginia ABC shelves years ago. Funny, opposite direction in my state over time, more restrictive.

I hate how weed was legalized but no governor has yet to approve dispensaries in our state outside of medical, and those are very few, never seen one myself in my state.

The other night in DC, it's the normal city smell to have weed come with the wind, 😂, i love it, but for some they hate it of course

Got my Ethanol from Ebay, lab grade for cleaning instruments and surfaces, 100 percent pure, 99 proof. 👍
I’m beginning to think this is one of the things we can’t buy up here any more. Even overproof spirits in the liquor stores have disappeared.

I’ll keep an eye out.
