Been on the to-do list pretty much since the movie then to find out it was just Trainwreck x Hawaiian was a little like realizing Santa Claus wasn't real.
I liked Saul's description better!

Went looking for a modern but older haze hybrid from around 95'-2015 and with that, Pineapple Express found it's way into my vertical germinator this week.
Got a 5 pack of fems from Grower's Choice and dropped 3.
Also added a free sample of bison mojo from Grease to this round of seed starting

Joining the party as companion plants, Strawberry Cough, (one of my desert island strains), and another throwback who might steal the whole show, Montana Silvertip.
Dropped 3 of each




Also tossing in some home bred F1 wildcard testers to see what happens.
Dropped 5, kept 4, fed 1 to the cat

I've only had commercial grown PE from dispos but each time I really enjoyed it and wanted to grow it for myself.
Really excited to finally see it growing here.
My seeds came from Grower's Choice which is an online white label seed company based in California. White label gets a very bad rap these days on social media by pollen chuckers but every cut I've got from Grower's Choice has been as advertised and very good pot. Confidence is high with these but we'll see in the end

It's a haze grow man so never know who might show up on the party train. Rumor has it the ghost of Richard Nixon and the cast of Ferris Bueller's Day Off is waiting at the next stop!

Strawberry Cough was an ez choice. Another I've been waiting years to circle back into.
Got the kush grow out of the way on the last run. Next up in that category will be more old school stuff like original skunk and northern lights.
Montana Silvertip is basically a fast flowering silver haze with Grand Daddy Purple in there giving it some indica traits in structure but she pops silver haze flowers. Kind of an original hybrid of Northern California grown indica and Dutch haze going back a generation. Could look like chrome spears in the end.

IDK man...I think The Dark Knight is reading grow journals on Bud Builders, so yeah, but it's Bud porn!!

This grow should be on the speedy side for haze hybrids.
Next to no veg is the plan. Will try to do a lot of vegging with the 12/12 light cycle as soon as I see 5 pointers on most.
These strains could be a half year long grow in some cases but I'll try to have it wrapped up in about 120 days or less.
Veg nutes will be pushed into flower, only flipping to bloom nutes after I see pistils. So even though they're on a 12/12, I think I can use stretch and nutes to grow the garden 5x it's size from time of flip.
Basically, a >1' deep x 3x3 canopy footprint at flip and finishing at 3-4' deep and 4x5 wide canopy is my plan.
Hopefully, not too many surprises and it all plays out how it should.

Designed and printed a tray mount for the Ecowitt wired soil moisture meter and added the dummy bag today.





This is pretty much a gas gauge that lets me track the moisture of the medium in relation to environment. I can correlate temps to evaporation rate in the medium without a plant with this rig.
Later, after upcan, another probed bag will be set up but it will have a plant so I'll have a probed bag with and without a plant.
This meter has a digital display but it also transmits thru wifi to my desktop dashboard.

Right now, it's being used to give me base line operating numbers which I can use to determine how often I need to flood the tray.

The dry floor is 40% with this medium. It's a very fast draining and water repelling media with a very rapid rate of exchange for both air and water.
If it was soil loaded with compost and peat then everything changes with slower exchange rates and min/max levels of saturation.

So I don't want this medium getting any drier than 40% and of course max saturation is 100% but that 100 is only available while flooded. The optimal operating moisture IMO is approximately 5-30 minutes after a flood. I find that optimal operating moisture level to be around 60%.
In context, a day of irrigation would look like this.... Flood to 100% then watch it fall-60%-55%-50%-45%- Flood again.
I'm trying to fit that sequence into a 24 hour period if possible then it's only 1 flood per day. If that sequence falls much faster then more floods are needed in a 24 hour period.

When the plant probe bag is in and spitting out data then I can chart it and watch the exact times and for how long, how much, the garden is taking up in food and water making it possible to predict transitions in the life cycle, basically stay a step ahead of garden needs being proactive instead of reactive. That's the goal anyways.

That's kinda hilarious man and goes into our convo in the other thread...There's a lot of people who do something or make something who on a personal level would either hate me or I consider them a total fucking d-bag but I try my hardest to overlook it.
I've never known anything about that guy but it really doesn't surprise me. I can't count how many times I've been let down by somebody's personality or beliefs who also sells something I use and enjoy.
Like I'm almost certain that to sell LED grow lights, you have to pass the POS test. Almost to a person, the people in that game is some sort of hustler. CLW is no exception even though it may look like I think they're the best ever. Both things can be true there.
In order to sell seeds you have to trash every other breeder to build yourself up unless your name is Bodhi. That game gets weird and filled with so much drama I'd swear most breeders are 15 year old Mean Girls from different high schools.
The absolute biggest tool in this industry I've ever had the displeasure to meet was Big Mike from Advanced Nutrients. He's the only one who was so bad I told myself I'd never use his products or his proteges, Remo.

I should also say that I too have steered away from doing business with some over their behavior here or on other social media platforms. GPS was one. His stuff was on the way out anyways but I wanted to punch him in the face for "grower error" with his hermie shit and then yeah, Heisan. Won't grow his stuff either. Don;t care if he's using STS now so he cleaned up the hermie fiasco but his posts here along with that weed just not being very good despite the amazing pictures IMO was an ez boycott. Guys like him have legions of followers backing them up and promoting them too which makes it hard navigating new genetics.
Other boycotts I've done have been soley on performance issues.

Herbnow guy should really be kind and not even go after anybody else in this game.
His product is not evolving and there's a limited demand. It's not sustainable so maybe he's realizing the well is running dry and getting hostile about it. Can only guess.
It would be super ez to DIY his product as well and even make it better by DIY. Just get a dehydrator and take the heating and electronic guts out of it. Install a small PC fan in the bottom facing up with a silicone pie dish placed over the fan and some holes in the pie dish for air flow. Voila, you have the Herbnow dryer.
Harsh and cold game but that's business for ya!

You any closer to a Cannatrol or still debating?
I like the price coming down on that original version. I'm considering it but also not sure if I really need it.
They may be going kinda like Harvest Right and the freeze dryers where there's only so much demand before they start having clearance sales on older models and then popping up on the used market. There's a small resale market, mostly to preppers and not extractors though. I doubt any Cannatrol would show up on the used market for me to snatch up.

I also saw at HTG that Canna-Cans are on sale almost half off. CannaCans are C-Vaults with a much lower price and on sale is even better.
Stainless steel doesn't get quite the publicity it should as a curing container but I'm in the mindset that a right size boveda pack and an airtight stainless steel container is a very worthy curing container and really my top choice until I get a run at a Cannatrol to compare

Ethos is an ez boycott based off $60 for 5 fems seeds alone. Add in crazy and fucked drama? There's a billion more fish in the sea to buy seeds from.

I say accidently because I didn't realize what I was doing. I'm well versed paying for things with PayPal, but have only used Affirm once or twice. Well there's a different process for the two and I assumed finishing the Affirm stuff would take me back to Cannatrol's website to finalize the order. Nope. It's done and will be shipped in January, supposedly.

I'm excited but also conflicted. Accidently ordering it and having to explain that to the wife stole a little bit of the thunder and, on top of that, I'm pretty sure I just finished my best dry/cure so far going the traditional route, so it may have been an unnecessary purchase. I'll choose to think the opposite and credit the perfect dry/cure to it being winter time.

I have a cannatrol now close to 3 years no problems with it at all its been plugged in since purchase. I flower 8 plants at a time . I fill up cannatrol with four plants put it on 4 day dry cycle gets down to 60-61 moisture than put in jars to cure with moisture pack 62. Chop down next four put in cannatrol let it go thru 4 day cycle 4 day cure cycle and leave them in canatrol to next harvest or use as needed.

I am lucky to fit 2-4 plants at a time in it.
You can really pack the shelfs full because the buds really do shrink up.
Possibly the tray makes it the clearest to see the change. But a jam packed shelf will have space between buds when done.

I find its best use is when some or one plants need to be cut but the rest of the room still needs/wants more time. Part of doing different strains that is hard to control.
Given the choice I will dry in room over the cannatrol just for pure convenience of getting the room done all at once.
If the room comes down in stages I can usually do it in the cannatrol in 2 or 3 cycles.
It is nice not to sit through double digit number plants all at once.

I flower 8 plants at a time . I fill up cannatrol with four plants

What's the dry weight after filling it up with 4 plants? I harveat 4 at a time also. 18.5oz yield from my last run.
