i been using 3 gallon fabric pots i do have some 5 gallon fabric pots , i am wondering if there would be any advantage to using a 5 gallon pot over a 3 would the plant yield more by just being in the 5 then the 3

It all depends in the media, organic or synthetic nutrients and watering ability… the better gas exchange the faster growth…. Imo a 1 gal coco fabric will outperform a 3 or 5 gal of the same but when i did that i had to water 14x a day at peak… albeit only 250ml at a time.

If organic then the larger pot size is a benefit since nutrients need to be broken down and are not nearly as available and break down over time.

There are a lot of variables to this. Have you read my watering thread or high fertigation coco?

yea i have read it a few times

for like the last year and half i been using this wal mart pro mix premium moisture control that has something in it that holds on to water like a diaper , after a few grows i finally got it where i have to water 3/4 a gallon every 3 or 4 days in a 3 gallon fabric pot but you can not saturate this stuff if u do u will water once every 2 weeks lol

Pro mix HP is what you want… ideally you want to water every 2 days in your type of grow… you adjust the soil and pot size to do so. And you should be able to saturate it at watering or its to dense or to large of a container

You have any none moisture control? Just regular? Just ise that and mix in 30% perlite. You can make your own peat based soils easily…. Just look for peat moss that already has a buffer and add as much perlite as you need

Why did my dumb ass not think of this. I can get 4 cu ft bales of buffered peat for like 20 dollars. A 3.8 cu ft bale of promix BX is almost 60 dollars. Ive got 4 cu ft of fresh perlite in my shed.

Thanks again ya genius. 🤣

I took 20 gallons of promix bx and added like 8-10 gallons of perlite, water every 2 days. Almost the same time of day every 2 days they are dry.

I do an organic soil grow, I have seen a remarkable difference in going from three to a seven gallon pot. An old saying, the larger the roots the larger the fruits.

so i watered friday night the 26th 4 cups of water i measured it out no runoff
it will be the 31st maybe even the 1st b4 i can wata again

i think when it comes time to transplant i will go to 5 gallon fabric pots , i might even add a little more perlite to the mix , i am reusing the soil from my Acapulco gold grow

No you almost cannot lst too early IMO. You can top too early, but LST is very forgiving.

Are they growing quickly?
to me they are there the biggest plants i have had at 3 weeks
it just when i lst the tops just pulled them over they are not standing back up like they should it's been 2 days

how long can i let my plants stay in the 1 gallon pots before i transplant there 4 weeks old now ? is there a benefit to keep them in the 1 gallon pots longer ,how long before i flip to 12/12 should they be transplanted 1 week b4 flip 2 weeks b4 flip ?

I'm doing my first soil grow right now, in the seedling stage. So I am not an authority.

My plan is to go directly from the solo cups they are in to the final pot size - 5 gallon airpots. This is based on general feedback from soil growers.

I think I would repot now to the final size. Big roots and all.

normally that's what i did solo cup to final pot but at the other place folks always told me it should of been solo cup to 1 gallon then to maybe 3 gallon then to 5 gallons lol to many steps if u ask me lol

I hear you. Its really confusing to us newbies when there are so many spectacular growers out there that do it differently. Sometimes instructions are contrary.

I'm transplanting seedlings to 5 gal on the advice of growers I trust. But there are many ways to do it no doubt.

Did you start them in 1 gallon pots or solos?

I usually get 2-3 weeks out of a solo cup, so you could prolly get 4 or 5 out of a 1 gallon pot.

And as far as flipping to 12/12, i like to shoot for 16-26 inch plants at flip, but its strain dependant.

16-20 for sativas, and 22-26 for indicas.
