First you need to clarify who the “girl boss” is. Currently I am basically the only female here. I am a moderator and not a boss. I do not nor have I ever sold RO systems. Why do you refer to the “girl boss” as a him?
I see you have also used the term “grow boss”. I have never seen a user here by the name GrowBoss. Maybe you are on the wrong site?
If you mean this forums owner, that would be @Moe.Red.

I think I know. He is a hydro store owner who has a large YouTube presence. Calls himself the grow boss. I think girl boss was autocorrect.

I bought 2 of his RO systems and the valve does not work on either one. It’s not the valve I replaced them twice now.

Iirc he is in Nevada.

Did you give money already? If not I wouldn’t. There are other options.

???🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️???
damn, i thought the days of shady stores hustling knock-off warez online were done for with amazon and whatnot making it way easier to look legit.

there's a lot wrong on that site between the design, the information, and the supposed products he claims to sell.

I bought from him several years ago. The site was not as bad then. I think viewing it now I just contracted Tourette’s

He’s gone downhill.

I grabbed a pretty cheap RO/DI system from amazon. I've ran a couple hundred gallons through it so far, still chuggin' along. His seem to be way overpriced.

I did flood my bathroom but it wasn't the filters fault. I forgot the shut the spicket at the bottom of my collection barrel and went to bed 🤦

funny what happens when you don't close valves that should be closed. i, too, have flooded places that shouldn't be flooded by doing basically the same thing. we don't talk about those places.

I flooded my whole basement more than 5 times in 3 years. worst was about 2 inches deep...
Try changing 1,000 gallons a week in 80 plus fish tanks and see if you don't forget once or five times~!🥴

Thanks everyone for your input that makes my decision much easier won't be buying from him anybody recommend a good RO system that's not overpriced I only need 100 gallons a day at the most thanks again
Never used their RO system but I loved their 2 stage filter system. They will ask you what area you are in to match the filter to the water conditions in your area.

In almost every LGO I worked at they used a Hydrologic Evolution 1000. I have no complaints with it. While not RO maybe their smaller version would work?

Here's the one I bought. I don't think I needed the Deionized water but my wayer here is terrible. It goes in over 500ppm and comes out 0ppm. Pretty inexpensive brand if you're just starting out.

You'll want a float valve so you can keep it pressurized.

That's a great deal for what you get. Does it have a UV sterilizer as an add on?

Are you in my head or am I in your head?

I just replaced my Hydrologic system since they've been discontinued. Rebuild parts are hard to find and expensive. Two years ago I bought a bunch of filters and membrane on clearance and once I used those I figured it would be time to invest in a new system.
I think I can still use the socks though.
Amazing how much efficiency it lost compared to the new system

I run my system outside so no worries of floods but being outside, I wear these things out and get maybe 1 year on all filters and maybe 3-5 years on the complete system so overall, this is my 4th RO system.
If you do run it outside, bring it inside when it freezes. Trust me on that one. The whole when water freezes ice expands science is not kind to the plastic on these things ;)

I've had one spectrapure, two hydrologics, and now the aquaticlife. The spectrapure and hydrologics were in the $250+ range and I can vouch for the aquaticlife having everything those others have but DI is included and not an upgrade you have to spend another $60 on. This system is an absolute steal.
BTW I'm not a boss but in some circles I am known as El Jefe🐓

Damn are those new filters? Less than 50 gallons through mine and the sediment filter looked dirty as hell and has me considering new filters for my next grow. Filters are pretty cheap but I was hoping to get at least two grows through these. I've ran probably 3-400 gallons through my current filters.

Yeah they're new. I just installed the system yesterday and that's it first 40 gallons.
I have a sediment filter on my hose bib so that helps too. My water is only 150ppm going in so it's pretty clean but there are the chloramines and other stuff that needs to come out.
Today I'm gonna put the old socks on the carbon and DI housing but let the sediment get a film of algae going. That algae will also help filter the water by feeding on the nitrates in the first stage

Thanks all for your input I really appreciate it and Bandit420 I had to Laugh me a minute to figure out what you were talking about with the old socks finally you're taking the covers off the old unit and putting them on your new unit took me a minute figure that out thanks again for all your help

Just a quick note wanna let everybody know that the grow boss finally got ahold of me let me know that they were having some major problems hired somebody to take over and they ripped him off paypal got ahold of him today and she said she would be sending them there my money back and apologize for any inconvenience very nice young lady I told her I was not interested in that anymore aren't taking different avenues again guys girls thanks

Guys I have not done all my homework on the replacement filters but I have notices some odd things about Ro filters and pricing. I am running a growonix 400 gallon a day system with a 2 stage and 2 membrane filters. I think if you spend some time on Ebay and contact the right seller you can probably get the filters for pennies on the dollars. When I have replaced the filters the cost is almost as much at the whole system. Filters all seem to be about the same size

It's about half the price of the full setup on AquaticLife's website. I'll check eBay to see if I can find something cheaper.

Best filter media and RO accessories for reasonable prices.
If you have a 10 inch filter you get 10 inch filters. They have several sizes.
The replacement is where they most often burn you up.
The filter set ups from BRS are very good but not cheap.
They sell top of the line filters.
