I’m sure someone here has some experience in this area, I’m looking for a dry herb vape for my daughter for her birthday this year.

I’d like to get her something with good performance and easy to use (change temp settings etc.) And not a bear to clean.

I have a PAX2 which I really like, but it’s no longer made.

Ideas? Recommendations? Also, anything I should avoid?

Thank you!

Honestly, game changer. Best addition we got. Even my wife likes it. Cools the vape right down. Taste and smells are much better.

We had to order the clear glass bubble straw later. The short black one that comes with it isn’t good enough. The other two is all we use, multiple times a day. I load 7-13 capsules each day.

I was hoping to use the original black glass straw as a joint holder but it’s not a good fit. I keep it with the capsule holder as a backup now.
I like my combustion method and have 2 of the best rated dry herb vapes lol.
Im a snob

Have you tried any of the "ball vapes"?

Sorry for bumping an old thread, I got excited when I found people talking about ball vapes - that's bleeding edge vape stuff, glad to see it being talked about.

G Pen Micro........cute but clogs way too easily. 2 hits and I have to take it apart and clean it. They recommend buying extra tips and bowls with it, now I know why. For concentrates only, by the way.

I have a PAX2 that I made some modifications to the heat chamber to vastly improve airflow.
It’s still not what I’d ever recommend anyone buy, but as long as it works, I’m cheap.

When this one wears out, I’m going to be looking for a nice handheld with exceptional airflow, ease of load/clean is a plus. Good battery use times and size of chamber nice to have as well, but perhaps less important.

I have not, but I have a Mighty+ and Volcano, I really only like to use them for hash. They really bring the flavor out.
I just prefer to smoke is all lol 🤘🏼

The Mighty is soo good, I carried that vape daily for nearly a decade. The new S&B portable has 3x more airflow, but it's still the same vapor, basically.
There are much more potent dry herb vaporizers out there, if that's what was missing for you.
The ball vapes are a new level of vapor, but they're also not for everyone. The vapor can be so strong that it hurts.

I've been hearing amazing things on S&Bs new Venty. I hear it's a beast compared to the mighty even.

Tell me about them!

Happily!
"Ball Vapes" are named as such because the heater is filled with ruby balls.
This trend started around 2016 and became popular amongst dry herb vape enthusiasts.
Initially, it was just a bunch of DIY vaporizers, but in the last few years, they've started to catch on.
They took off when ball vapes crossed paths with e-nail PIDs and coils, which made them accessible and somewhat affordable.

Ball vapes are still mostly a desktop vaporizer experience made for bongs, but there are a few portable ball vapes out now. They don't crush like the desktop ball vapes, but they're VERY GOOD for portable vapes.

Ball vapes are so good because they have open airflow and extremely fast extraction. I can vape .25g in a single inhale, although nowadays I prefer a .1g sized bowl.

I have a website with more information but I don't want to be spammy like Denis (Denis also spammed my website with the same link)

What's your website? I'm actually in the market for a portable unit, I'd love to see your opinion on what units are the best. Not sure if linking your website with information regarding the topic at hand would be a problem, (I wouldn't consider one link "spammy") but if you need to DM it to me that would be fine as well.

I'm actually looking at the Pax Mini. I had an original Pax that I liked except I found the bowl to be too big & it was a but of a bear to keep clean. Sounds like the mini has half the bowl size, is a little easier to clean & maintains most of the features with the exception of multiple temp options. Also It's very reasonably priced at just over $100

My website is 420vapezone.com.
I ranked and compared 45 of the best portable vapes and put together this guide.
https://420vapezone.com/best-portable-vaporizers/

The Pax Mini is my favorite Pax tbh. It's so simple, and the half oven actually makes its vapor better than the full-sized pax oven.
I don't use the Pax often, but I'm also a full-time vaporizer user and I vape dry herb all-day

I have all of the vapes and I quit my dayjob to review them - so hit me up anytime if you have questions :)
or if you're in LA and want to try things out, i'd be happy to sesh with locals and share the vapes (600+ in my collection)

Wow your site is very informative. I love how you have them organized into categories with the prices/ratings clearly labeled without having to go into the individual reviews. After looking through everything I'm now considering spending a little more for the PotV Lobo.

If I follow the links on your site to purchase do you get credit for the sales?

Thank you!
I've been helping people with vapes since 2014 and the experience helped me figure out many common questions and user demands.

Many of the links are affiliate links, but not all. There are good vapes that don't earn any commission and affiliate relations aren't factored in to the vape ranking :)

The Lobo is very good for its price.
Have you tried a Dynavap?

No I've never heard of a Dynavap before. Watched your video & while definitely interesting I don't think it's what I'm after right now. I'm looking for something a little more stealth & really don't want to deal with torches. (ironically I use torches for work so it's not that I'm uncomfortable using them, but I just want something more simple, it's the main reason I've stayed away from dab rigs as well)

I refuse to carry a torch around in life, but at home, at my desk, or around the house, I don't mind.
The Dynavap can crank out crazy good vapor, but it's a unicycle of a vaporizer with a steeper learning curve.

For dabs - i use the D-nail universal heater these days. Dab Torches are almost completely dead to me

EDIT: if I'm pulling out a torch for dry herb, it's probably doing to be for a different vape (like the Stunner or HyperDyn)

I ended up going with the Lobo, just placed the order. I went through your link (hopefully that's one of the affiliate links) & also mentioned your website on their survey. Thanks again man, your sire is awesome!! So much information, well layed out & easy to process.

I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on the Lobo once you've spent some time with it, too.
Did you pick up any of the glass accessories?

No worries, the only reason I knew about the Lobo was from your site wanted to make sure you got the credit you deserved. I will definitely update here with my opinion once I've used it a bit as I don't think anyone else has mentioned it here.

I haven't gotten any accessories yet. It supposedly came with a $15 gift card so I will definitely get something when that comes, probably going to get some of the dosing capsules but may splurge on some glass too, I'll keep you posted 😀

Nice site. Reviews seem honest and cover enough to help with choices.

I went from a Utillian 722 to a POTV LOBO. Night and day performance. Plus it’s cheaper! Bought a few extra glass pieces too.

Thanks for sharing.

I’ve had the Lobo for a long while now. We use it for three people about 6+ times each day, more on weekends and holidays.

I bought 12 capsules for travel and cycle through 3-4 each day. Keeps the oven so much cleaner.

390* is our usual setting. But that’s because my wife has to see smoke or she doesn’t think she’s getting high. This last month I’ve been going to 370* for extra flavour but bump to 410* by the end for big hits and lots of smoke. (Wife likes it just at 410* and doesn’t care about taste. 🤦)

Two tricks I picked up….
1. After each session dab the screen on a paper towel to keep clean and extend life between cleanings.IMG_2657.jpegIMG_2655.jpeg

The second easy tip is to run hot tap water through the glass straw once you see rosin buildup. If the screen is bad it’s coming from the straw. Just remove the straw first.

We mostly use the longer straw seen above. Second best is the big bubbler Gordido.

Any questions feel free to ask.

I bought my daughter the POTV Lobo last year, she loves it. I keep trying to figure out how to talk her out of it! It seems much better than the PAX2 I’m using, but no complaints, what I have works.

If I need to buy a replacement, it’ll likely be the Lobo!

Won’t regret it. Cleaning the oven just needs a ISO wet nap. I get them free so easy choice. But honestly cleaning the glass with just very hot water beats the others I’ve had/tried.

With 4 batteries and 13 capsules in total we can go on day trips without issues. Depending on temperature(s) used we get 5-6 sessions per full battery.

I do wish it came with a small case to hold the unit with a few batteries and a spot for Gordino bubbler. But the unit itself is pocket size. Just make sure nothing gets into the straw.

delta3dstudios.com makes a bunch of accessories like capsule holders and battery cases.
They make one that fits inside of a little tight-vac container and it keeps the capsules stacked on the side, it's super handy.

I think PotV might even sell them now

yep that's the one. they make a few different size tight-vac containers and delta3d has variations for all the sizes and vapes.

I'm not a fan of dosing capsules myself, but the little tight-vac system is attractive to me

They give you the tight-vac when you buy the lobo. I grabbed 12 more capsules, longer straw, the big bubbler and a bong adapter.

We have a 3D printer now, temporarily broken, that we can use to make more items. Already made a multi capsule filling tray. Found a few things to print for POTV.

IMO the tight-vac inserts are wrong, upside down actually. The lid should be the bottom and the dead space for the vacuum seal covered. It would make getting capsules out much easier and offer better organization. If I remember I’ll take a few pics later.

After cleaning my old vape and finding resin leaking into parts inside i don’t mind using the SS capsules. No mess anymore. Three people can still get a good high. Easy to preload and carry with you. I even put different strains in different slots of the tight-vac.

Never thought I’d use one, now I cycle through four daily and 13 when busy or have company. Helps I have a cleaning and crap station/box.

This is the insert we bought with our Lobo and free right-vac. IMG_2743.jpeg

It's a handy little adapter and fun to use... but the Lobo just isn't enough to power a bong rip.

ball vapes are the pinnacle of performance if you want a vape made for the bong.

We found it depends on the weed and the temperature. My older weed from fall of 2023 combined with 410*f rips quite nicely. The above pic we used newer weed from November 2024. Taste was great but it wasn’t as much vape.

I want to try Bandits Haunted Banana this way now that it’s sat a few weeks. Early tests were good but we don’t have a lot of it as I only grew one female and needed to make F2 seeds with her.

We also got the big bubbler attachment called Gordido iirc. It’s nice too but doesn’t travel well in your pocket. 🤣
