Best small dry herb vaporizer?

I’m sure someone here has some experience in this area, I’m looking for a dry herb vape for my daughter for her birthday this year.

I’d like to get her something with good performance and easy to use (change temp settings etc.) And not a bear to clean.

I have a PAX2 which I really like, but it’s no longer made.

Ideas? Recommendations? Also, anything I should avoid?

Yep that's the one.
There are better ball vapes out there, but Mini Nail is one of the few that gets their packaging and presentation right.

The best ball vape currently is the VapVana Screwball and VapVana Ace.

I’ve had the Lobo for a long while now. We use it for three people about 6+ times each day, more on weekends and holidays.

I bought 12 capsules for travel and cycle through 3-4 each day. Keeps the oven so much cleaner.

390* is our usual setting. But that’s because my wife has to see smoke or she doesn’t think she’s getting high. This last month I’ve been going to 370* for extra flavour but bump to 410* by the end for big hits and lots of smoke. (Wife likes it just at 410* and doesn’t care about taste. )

Two tricks I picked up….
1. After each session dab the screen on a paper towel to keep clean and extend life between cleanings.View attachment 88724View attachment 88725

The second easy tip is to run hot tap water through the glass straw once you see rosin buildup. If the screen is bad it’s coming from the straw. Just remove the straw first.

We mostly use the longer straw seen above. Second best is the big bubbler Gordido.

I bought my daughter the POTV Lobo last year, she loves it. I keep trying to figure out how to talk her out of it! It seems much better than the PAX2 I’m using, but no complaints, what I have works.

If I need to buy a replacement, it’ll likely be the Lobo!

I think you’ll be happy. I like 370 for taste but wifey needs to see smoke so we bump it up to 400 for her.

One thing I’ve noticed that probably won’t affect you is that the usb charger might not work properly below 18*-20*. If it’s warmed up in my pocket a few minutes, so it’s no longer cold to the touch, it’s fine.

If you remove the top “lid” after a session touch it to a good paper towel. Hold it pressed against the screen a minute. This sucks the resin back out so you don’t have to do a big cleaning too often. That HB is a juicy one.

I would recommend the longer glass bubble straw as well. It’s now my/our favourite accessory. I got clear so I can see when it’s dirty faster. I clean it fast by holding it with big tweezers under the sinks hot water a few minutes. Works faster than ISO and no second wash needed. We have a dollar store sink screen I put in just in case.

Gordido is great, once you find the right water level. It’s a bit big to leave on all the time but I’ve left it on fir a few weekends. Otherwise I switch back to the longer bubble straw.

The original black glass straw is okay but gets hot fast. More for personal use. Sharing with three people it’s gotten uncomfortable a few times. IMO the longer straw should come with it and ditch the short one.

Make sure you use the capsules for weed. Sooo much better than my last vape. Cleans up much easier/faster. Doesn’t muck up the oven or let resin leak into the guts.

I use a metal tool I have to clean out the capsules quick and nice. It’s like a mini double end paddle. Flat on both ends but squared on one and pointed on the other. Rarely use the pointed end. Square end does the lid and inside the capsule and sides.



Depending on how sticky the weed we run 4 capsules a month then switch to a clean set works for us. I have 13 capsules so three rotations.

I put the black straw in the capsule holder in case it’s needed.


We bought a proper 18650 charger too. But I use the USB one most of the time and rotate between four batteries every month or two.

I'll clean the capsules in my sonic bath which is why I wanted that feature. If they keep the vape clean then I keep the capsules like new with the bath I should like it a ton staying clean and not being a PITA to clean it.

I'm going with a portable dry herb vape mostly because I have a unique opportunity to use freeze dried herb in it.
I keep an open door policy on new ideas when it comes to everything growing and especially partaking.
So now freeze drying is on my radar mostly for extractions but I've also been reading good things about vaping freeze dried flower so I wanna try that.

IMO you can't go wrong with the Venty. There have been people who have had issues with the Venty - but Storz hasn't screwed anyone over that I've seen. My venty gets used daily and I haven't had any issues with it since my first replacement.

That said - I use the ball vapes 10x more than portable vapes. I'm usually at my desk when I vape and the screwball is hot and ready 16+ hours per day.

Now, here is the real deal...I can do that two more times and on the last session, bump to 400F or 410F.

To me this is being efficient with my flower. I get PROPERLY lit on each session and do lose flavor after the first session, but it is so economical and cost effective.

I am interested in the Arizer III V2. Correct me if I am wrong, but what I do with the Mighty sessions are NOT possible with the Arizer Solo III. You load the tube, insert and once up to temperature, you must consume it all. Is that a fair statement?

Nice looking rig. I was close to ordering the green vape. Now you’ve got me thinking about sonic cleaners in the future.

Keep a tissue or paper towel handy to clean the bottom of the screen after you vape. While it’s still hot. You have sticky weed and it’s going to collect in the straw after a few capsules.

I love that Bubbler with my Mighty, cuz it rocks. Every time I load a new capsule, I throw it in the freezer to cool it down...lol.

Not that it burns faster or at a lower temp but much more full bodied everything on the cloud then falls off a cliff letting you know you got everything. There's no slow decline I guess you could say.
Design is very solid and well thought out. I like it better than my 1st generation Davinci IQ a ton which was twice the price and also like it being dumbed down with no app or crazy bells and whistles. I have that in Puffco Peak and wanted a utility meat and potatoes piece to replace my fire burning pipe at work when I want flower and totally got that in the Lobo

I keep my weed a little damper for the vape. Most times we can hit the same capsule twice if we want with strains like Strawberry Lemonade or Haunted Banana.

Packing a capsule becomes routine. I do it like a firm pillow. Just a bit of squishy too it.

Cool, sounds like it’s found it’s place. We use ours 85% of the time. Son uses his bong the most. I like a pipe in the yard during the warm months.

Haven’t had it to the max yet. Highest we tried is 410. Sitting at 395 the last few days.

Only thing I’d like to see is a setting that climbs from 370 to 410 automatically. (Or any two presets you choose.)

But i like the stronger flavor and faster performance of raw-dogging the vape.

Happily! I have pretty much all of the ball vapes, my favorites are the Screwball by Vapvana and its 'cordless' counterpart - the Ace. Both of these come with 2 bowl options, glass and metal. The metal bowl is a more intense experience, and it can be heatsoaked to achieve darker roasts and more sedative/stoney highs. The glass bowl is more flavorful, but it takes 2 or 3 hits to fully vape the bowl.

Another great option, and probably the "best" overall right now, is called the Universal Baller. It's designed in a way that uses a 100% glass airpath, but it has a protective stainless or titanium housing that helps maintain temperatures. This one is made by Terp Chasers Club.

Both of those vape companies are one-man operations, like me

Another solid choice is Cannabis Hardware. They're US made and they have a few different options.

Re raw dogging the Mighty: In my opinion there's a lot more flavor going raw without the capsule - BUT, I think the effects are also different.
I don't use capsules because I dislike how the vapor takes longer to get going. I want vapor fast and i want it flavorful and potent from the start.
I get the best experience packing the bowl natively.
When I did side-by-side comparisons, the AVB from the capsule was darker and I felt a bit more of the sedative effects of conduction. Others report similar findings, but there's not much else to explain it. The vape only goes to 410, I'm still unsure why one came out darker.

But yea, better flavor without capsules IMO. I carry doob tubes filled with ground flower to repack the Venty on the go.

It’s only my second dry vape. First one got so…mucked up…it was a pain to clean and the intake tube would get clogged. The oven also got scratched up and discoloured. Using the capsules prevents all but a little, normal, heat discolouring.

Three of my strains are really frosty. When I use any of them I have to clean things more often. With the capsules being used I can clean 95% of it with one ISO pad and hot water. A dream compared to the Utillian 722.

I only noticed a difference in flavour changing temperatures.

I haven’t “raw dogged” this vape yet but I imagine the only difference in capsules vs no capsule is the amount of air getting through. It sometimes takes two or three draws before the weed gets good and cloudy.

I also like my vape weed to be about the mid 60’s for RH.

This is the ABV from capsules. Temps range from 370-410. Currently set at 395 as my wife needs to see lots of smoke.

Yea, I would think the same. I agree capsules inhibit fast heat up times, but I believe the increase in heat up time, is negligible, but i don't know for sure. If it's true, then the capsules act as a tiny capacitor in holding onto heat for a little longer, as well. Something to consider if tiny aforementioned increments of change greatly influenced the session.

Flavor wise...just doesn't seem to me that it would make much of a difference.

I think a correct dry/cure methodology influences taste more than adding additional material to the bowl, (the capsules) which is made out of the same material as the bowl. Again, this is all unproven by me. And, why I asked the professional.

Ball vapes are insane. I purchased a Ditanium to enjoy an unadulterated pure session. Its not a ball vape. I am not sure what the excitement is about, for ball vapes. At one point, ball vapers were customizing the original Ditanium design, in an effort to increase the heating ability, or better said, its abilit to hold onto heat. By adding those little diamond rock thingies. Again, NOT an authority here. I am confident the professional will explain (much respect as I call him the professional, and doesn't mean I agree with everything he says, but much trust here for sure).

But, having owned and used the Ditanium, you don't need to alter the design. Just Google the Ditanium. A straight forward, unadulterated ultra clean session. The Ditanium requires a tiny bit more effort than a portable Vape, but a ball vape is a whole other investment in time, money, and sanity. You better not get to blasted or you could burn your house down lol, that is a joke, but really?

The Ditanium is designed for on demand sessions if you don't mind waiting for the device to get to temperature, which is true of all vaporizers. Differently, though...you can leave it on or energized all the time, or better said, leave it on during your hours of intended use. Then it's basically idle and in waiting. Know this...you can set temps for a light and fluffy, full of temps session, or a fucking knock your socks off, giant thick clouds, couch locking sessions. All up to you, as I did both, while using a water pipe. Very sublime. But I can't, for the life of me understand the additional redesign and addition of rock thingies. Again, I invite professional guidance, as I only know what I have tried. And I am NOT knocking anyone, or any methodology. To me it's all good in the world of cannibas as long as no one gets hurt lol.

I haven't used the Ditanium in awhile. The dedicated space for its home has been re-purposed. I need to get that baby going again.
