Meet the new new.

Where did the Grove Bags come up short for you? The only issue I've noticed was with one of four 16oz bags from last years outdoor harvest. Those 1lb bags, which are/were Grove brand, saw a lot of opening an closing and the zip-lock seal came apart in one of them. I just hit the easy button and rolled the top closed and put a clamp on it, rather than transfer to a new bag. The smaller bags have been for sharing or to keep my personal side stash (in case the my kids and their friends blaze through the big bags quicker than expected).

Some of the smaller bags are knock-offs. They feel heavier, which makes me question permeability. I haven't noticed any issues, though. Most of the smaller bags go home with whoever I'm sharing with. I think conditions in my basement are pretty good for storage, as well. I haven't even had a need to use any Boveda packs.

I'm curious what you ran into? It's not that I'm a Grove bag devotee. Just curious to know what to keep and eye out for.

I had this problem with 3 or 4 of the 1oz bags after my last harvest. The ziploc just separated from the bag.
That's what happened for me, too. In fairness, that bag saw a lot of wear and tear. My adult kids and their little band of friends made plenty of trips to the "free weed" stockpile.

I still use the 1 litre wide mouth jars. I also have a bunch of different size flip top lid jars, one of which holds about 4-5 ounces that used to be the “help yourself jar” but that got abused. 🤣

what is your favorite meal to use it with? is it good on enchiladas? i've had a craving for few weeks now!!! all kinds of sauce and cheese oozing everywhere!!!! ahhh yeah!!!

ah shit i didn't know that... i figured you guys would be burnin a fatty on the 50 yard line all the time!!!

figures he would stink with it triple digits look what he wears!!! hahahaha and i'm sure he's played or plays pickleball!!!!!!!

oh there's one that the schools gets to display for the year in trophy case?

right?!?! shortest off season in sports and it's during the holiday so it fly's right by plus teams and employees all get to spend xmas with their families!!! not like the greedy nfl that makes guys play xmas eve and xmas day.

oh i didn't see any survey?? i did put in the favorite drivers and said it was for points but i didn't get any yet...

i did not know that... good to know!!! i'd like to try it sometime..

i'm going to try some different ventilation soon too.. i never messed with it before and i want to try something new.. i picked up one of those refillable ACI carbon filters.

i wish the ACI allowed for more than one temp/rh sensor. hell i'd be happy if they'd at least got with the times and updated their app to auto rotate!!

oh man hank gonna have to lose a few pounds to squeeze in there!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

thats freakin badass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wanna see the boat races though!!! hahahaha put a 19 on one!!! put a 23 on one and sink it!!! hehehe

;horns

I'll put that green sauce on anything man! There is no wrong way to use it but yeah enchilads would be great. Smothered burrito, mixed into guac...all kinds of stuff!

I like that racing ends for the holidays but I've been indoctrinated into football being played on Thanskgiving and Xmas. Those hoilidays are really just another day for us.
It's something we sign up for and for the most part, enjoy it.
Young people squirm and tend to not handle working a major holiday very well though. Some even act like they shouyld have the day off for their b-day but that's not how football works. We have no holidays. We have Summer/July so that's when we get time off to make up for working holidays. After a season or two they grow out of it and realize this is what we do and the life we signed up for.
It's kinda funny too because there's folks I know who think I'm lucky to take Summer off but at the same time want no part of working on Thanksgivings and Xmas eves lol.

Depends on the controller but you have two sensors....the probe on the wire and one built in. So I think you can run that wire probe to a location but use it's trigger to turn on a device in a different location. That's how I plan to use mine. I think it's the 69Pro or something like that.
The AI controller has two wire probes plus the internal.

Mine have been working really well for me especially after the last firmware update. I've had zero issues, knock on wood.
I don't have the power outages you have though so I'm sure that's hell on these types of devices.

Survey came by email but I still haven't got points for it or the fan vote for popular driver. Those things can take a week or so.
I think there's a streak bonus for Xfinity tonight with the check in!

It's all on the line today! Hopefully it makes the ride back to Austin after the game.
I've worn it a couple times but it's not a good fit or look on me

Grove has gone by way of Greenpoint Seeds for me.
I don't have any interest or time for a scooby doo investigation into fakes so all I'll say is yes counterfeit or quality control is an issue and it's coming from grove, not a 3rd party vendor.
Good bags at first but lately, IDK. Fucked up 2oz for me though so there's that.
They may be a great option for others but they're no longer a consideration for me.
I'm just gonna go with what works best for me and that's solid wall containers, preferably insulated if possible, lined with parchment, 62% pack, minimal to zero oxygen, in cold temps.

Hey bud...nice hat buddy....

That light...CLW... That one is adjustable power percentage?... Or just spectrum or both?

Both.
It has red and white channels and both go from 0-99 and can be arranged in any combo the grower wants but I always keep that stuff very simple...balanced then +/- 10 for veg or bloom.
I use it by starting very low, like 40r/50b by week two and walk it up until max power around early bloom

Hey man...didn't realize the kid pitching is outta your state..is he from your school?..
Miller?

Nope he's an aggy alum but like football players, we grow baseball players down here like Y'all grow apples up there ;smoke

So far there's only a couple lights I like for that white spectrum. Just doing the no research for the expansion later on

Is that 1000 watt light Bandit..I looove osram leds.i find them less intense than the Samsung lm 301b? .well that was my opinon when I used spider farmer 7000 once.went straight back to the lumatek Zeus.

Tried to search but no result.

What model/brand is that ultrasonic device you using with ISO for cleaning glass?

Thanks.
I got this one;

Sweet, not a bad price either.

Thanks steamy.

They're not making the Spectramax anymore. I don't even see them on the used market.

I'm not shopping for lights today but if I was, my first stop would be Mammoth Lighting

Close Max...It's 905 and right now I'm probably running it at around 875 watts.
I've been impressed with every light I've had loaded with Osram so far but CLW is moving away from using them due to supply chain changes.
I've used and have some samsung but don't tend to keep them. Just sold my ACI lights with Samsung diodes. They're okay and good but they're no osram lol.

Thanks.

There's dozens of options on amazon.
I'm using a 3L which takes two full quart bottles to fill but the trough lasts a month and I can dunk some large pieces like Peak toppers and my ash tray in there

I complained to Grove bags about the zipper ripping off the bags. They asked me to tell my provider of the bags. I did and I told them about 4 bags that had pissed me off and they sent me 10 of the 1/4lb bags. I just ripped the zipper off another yesterday. I bought 2 of the 1oz cvaults but they're too expensive to get the large ones. I saw these on Amzone and I may pick up a couple to test out.

^ I got about 25 of these. They can hold up to 4oz^ They were around $5 at dollar general and work great.

I got 4 of these. They hold 1 gallon or over 6 oz. They were around $10 each on amazon.
Never tried Grove bags and never desired to.
I just throw my Boveeda pack on top.

I’ve noticed that with lumatek too.i was going to purchase the the Zeus 3.1 umol/j but noticed they are running the Samsung diodes now so I’ll buy another 2.7 or 2.9 later on..the prices are coming down slowly too.maybe they will drop the prices more to run that model out and pick up a bargain…they are still pretty dear though atm but I love ‘em..had no probs since I purchased in 2000..the 2.7 umol/j yields well.

These are the type jars I started with. I had them for other things I no longer used. I also had some wide mouth 1 litre mason jars and over time found I like the mason jars better. But they all get used when we have a big harvest.

Grove worked great for me and I have some bags that are exactly what I'd expect but there's a drop off from one to the next. The best they had out there don't seem to be an option anymore so I moved on. The lesser quality bag also gave me a bad result so there was no going back.
To go down the bag option road, sure there's grove but I'm also pretty sure grove are the same kind of bags used to ship live fish.
There's also turkey bags+ humidity packs but I'm moving off bags altogether.

Jars were the first thing I think everybody has used and they're a best option for most.
C-vault, agree on too expensive and also, over rated while also being another product where what you buy today is not like the originals. I have some of both and it's not close how quality has dropped off. Been meaning to clean up my C-vaults an unload on ebay. There's other options to c-vault as well and how I found Steeltainer
I've also seen ammo cans used which I think is brilliant if it can be made food safe.

Are those still 1gls brother, did I miss that?....nice clean up

Are those still 1gls brother, did I miss that?....nice clean up

Kind of a trick question since I bought by size....15"x14"

The 15x14 turns out to be around 10x10 when it's full of soil.
I filled mine to only around 8" deep then folded the excess over so they're fit to the bed depth and spacing.

If I had to guess, I'd say each bag has a volume of around 800 cubic inches of media so that would put them at around 3.4 gallons each.
In addition to the bags is the slab beneath them too. There's roots growing in that slab and down in the sewer system channels of the tray below the bags

;pass

You grow with "organic inputs" right?

*mental note for 3 gallons/grow space/ "organic" inputs

Did not see the slabs, what slabs? Im thinking rockwool slabs but know you don't use RW.

And thanks for the printer models, might do that with my next aero-run when I get a printer.

Need smaller holes/pore size to use with small perlite as a medium starter, if not RW, or some other proprietary design I'm thinking of for HP aero chambers, really wanna try a I2Y lattice "net cup" for root/structure in HPA totes.

Little something I had up my sleeve if I ever got back into the flood and drain game 😉

That's correct in pushing organic alternatives into hydro.
There's always a test or an experiment going on within the grow here so one example of both those things is this one comparing results from store bought 50/50 coco/perlite VS a custom blend of 48/48 +2 crab meal but I also mixed the coco at 70% coir 30% chips with the chips being precharged with calmag. Testers are marked with a red tag

IMG_2500[1].jpeg

I'd also say my reservoir is alive as well as there being lots of microbial life in the media and roots too.

The slab idea is indeed stolen from rockwool growers.
The concept is exactly the same but replace rockwool with coco so you'd have coco blocks or bags on top of coco mats.

In a flood table, the drain channels in the tray will leach the slab the same way it works in rockwool so you get that high volume of air exchange with the rich nutrient floods in the ebb and flow action. The slab will leach from the bags with plants in them so as soon as the flood is over the leaching force of gravity and those channels will pull water down and off the medium, replacing water with air. Combine with a medium that naturally holds 30% oxygen and another water repelling medium, it becomes impossible to overwater and you can push the plants with all that available oxygen as well.

I have my mats at two inch deep thickness right now but am thinking about making slabs that would really be coco sandwiches using a mat as the base layer then a layer of loose coco chips then covered with another mat. Ideally I think the slab should be around 1" to 3" thick and deep.
The slab and leaching action of the channels is the remedy for a common issue of bottom soggy water logged flood and drain plants when they get too wet in the bottom yet dry up top when using a more dense medium like coco.
Another thing about the slab is I can set it up with a precharge so it's not inert. Mine was loaded with microherds, calmag and micro part3 before using

These are the materials I'm using to make the coco slabs. Rinse first as with all coco then set with a precharge of choice. Most common is a long soak in calmag and rooting nute concoctions. I'm also testing these cocos on other plants using it as mulch and water diffuser over soil
