Just a few 🤘 is this too many?
Nope, not too many. Tell me about your light. Do you have the ability to adjust it down like 5% - 10%? If not, simply raise it 100cm to 150cm. See, small tweaks. (That is If you haven't already changed it.)

I'm now using a mars hydro fc evo 4800 at 70% intensity it sits 18" above canopy
Do you know the rule of thumb about DLI and how to set it in flower?

In simple terms, you want to give your plants the same DLI during flower as you are in veg. Vegging plants typically run 18 hrs of light. So when you change to flower, you'll want to increase the light intensity so they get the same dli during flower at 12hrs of light. Make sense?

Not really yet? I do get a rough idea though photon app I'm at 450-500ppfd

I think I may need to learn a bit more about this...

Just a reminder that when using photone on some phones you need to use a diffuser. They have instructions to n how to make and use and on what phones this is required

For me, personally, I use a quantum light meter. I wasn't aware of having to use a defuser with some phones. Makes sense though since with all the different phones out there, there's so many differences between hardware between brands and even different models .

Thats specific to the photone app. They are one of the few who actually address the issue

Yh i tried the paper trick didn't think much of it was looking into buying a light metre instead ti get better readings

Good plan… lux meter is cheap and fine as long as you have a full spectrum light. If you have a blurple then you need to account for that.

@Aqua Man has been our mentor for a good number of people on this board. 6 yrs now for me. He's had his hand in making me a much better grower.

@ninjadip I liked the chart you posted enough to copy/paste it to a folder on my computer.

@gtb I'm reposting the chart. It's where I was heading with the question about your DLI.

So with my ppfd averaging around 450-500ppfd the dli is around 32dli so flowering this would mean to keep the same dli i would need to raise ppfd to around 750 in the 12/12 cycle to achieve the 32dli is this correct?

From images I posted earlier i am still sticking with the mag watering?

Exactly ... you have the right idea with the DLI. Think of it as a parameter where your individual grow may be +/- a bit. You can increase it from there before you begin to bring it back down again.

As for mag watering?

@Pipecarver says towards the 3rd week of flowering. It's because of his results with his grows that I made the switch to epsom salts during veg and then switching to cal-mag during flower. He's another that I've known now for 6 yrs. I start earlier with my cal-mag but not by much. So 2-3 wks you will switch out epsom salts and start using cal-mag.

This photo came from @Pipecarver's toolbox. If you look at the chart, you'll see why we add calcium when we do.

Nice chart!! 👌

I like that, easy to remember and explain that way.I've never heard that. I have such a distance on them now they get 15,000 - 16,000 lux across the canopy at 100% on my spiderfarmer se3000's. same on the Mars FC4500 evo but its only at 50% it's much more intense than the SE's.

When I go to flower I've just let them grow up into the lights but with that thought in mind I should bump them or lower the SE's to increase DLI. Its not a measurement I've ever monitored closely.

With hps there's no control like that they get what they get but with LED we can adjust it.....I'll have to keep a better eye on my lights distance from them.

After How many magnesium water feeds will i need to use on each plant before reintroducing base and supplements nutrients?

Run off ec from the mag feed won't need reading right?

Just one mag water feed. Then include magnesium (epsom salts) in with your nutrient mix for your very next feed.
Here's the thing. You were very close to being dialed in already. Your plants didn't need drastic measures. Just use epsom salts during veg going forward and then substitute cal-mag once you're in flower.

As for run-off ec, I don't bother with it. I water to run-off every time and I don't give my plants excess amounts of nutrients. I use the chart pretty much exactly as specified by GH for their Flora series.

After talking last night I went and checked my Lux across the canopy. I ended up lowering my lights almost 2 feet and dropping the intensity. I have to work more with the numbers rather than just ignored them and hope for the best.....Good talk...
