I have been spraying with safer 3-1 every 5 - 7 days and still got WPM on my outdoor plants. Gonna confirm with a UV light tonight to be 100% sure. But that shit is showing up on its own and appears to be spreading quick. If it is PM I’ll most likely just kill them and move on.

Do plants around it also have PM? Could be they're just reinfecting.
Certainly a possibility but they are on the deck away from other plants. They are also upwind of any other plants. I just sprayed again this evening. Gonna let dry a bit and inspect with UV light later tonight when it’s good and dark out.

Plants were still wet last night to try and illuminate the WPM with a UV light. Hopefully tonight I can check, but in the interim I’m going with my gut and assume it’s powder mildew. I don’t know how people enjoy growing outdoors, lol.

Right? Us indoor guys forget how convenient a controlled environment is!😄

When I grow outdoors I'll forget about bugs and other hazards so when I come back to check on them and their full of aphids I'll freak out thinking I did something wrong forgetting that there are also natural predators that are supposed to balance this out. It's outdoors. Just one of the many natural occurrences that I have to deal with as an outdoor grower.

Same here. Could not believe everything that tries to eat them almost daily. Seems I’m always spraying and squishing something.

I try and see it as an offering to the outdoor gods. They have to keep their minions(bugs) fed so a few leaves to their minions in exchange for fat bud is a winner in my book. Just gotta change up the strategy a little. Doing daily checks and giving all the plants a hard spray with the hose to knock off bugs is part of the deal. What's hard is when you don't have easy access to those plants to keep them in check. TSD has them in her yard so she can monitor them easily. GS had to hike up to his plants so not so easy.

Ya mammoth is in the ballpark of Twin2. He’s shown me a few good pics of her over the months. She should be fine if she doesn’t reveg on him like the others. Just a pain to get to.

I have leaf hoppers. Small green ones and bigger ones with red or brown on half the body. They do this in one night.

Are there any plants that you can plant around it that will help in keeping them off your girls? I know some herbs help in keeping them at bay like garlic, onions, dill, etc.

This is what I mean as far as changing up the strategy. In indoor we have to be vigilant about introducing pest and disease into the environment so we go through cleanliness protocols to make sure that doesn't happen. Outdoors it's about keeping them at a tolerable level hence planting other plants as a preventative. You'll never get rid of them completely as you're in an open environment but control is the name of the game in outdoors. Same time and effort for each discipline just different processes.

Killing Freezelands thread on WPM.
But I’ll keep an eye on the many plants around Twin2. Some bugs don’t touch. Others are worse ATM.

My last outside grow was in 2019. I grew them on my apartment's third-floor balcony. It had a western exposure and the plants only received about 3-4 hours of direct sunlight. They grew well, though, and I had a good harvest despite not knowing nearly as much as I do now. I'm sure I harvested too early. One thing I noticed was that we had no noticeable pests. I attributed it to being so high off the ground. We have a balcony at our new place, but it's not as high. I have tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and raspberries there now. So far, only the strawberries are showing signs of pest damage. I'm thinking of putting my latest clones out there because I don't have anywhere else to put them. If I do, I'll be interested to see if they are also free of pests.

It’s why mine are up on the deck up out of the ground insect zone. Moths are the challenge and their resulting worms and cats are the problem. And obviously PM.

The switch to lost coast plant therapy took care of the PM. At least for now. I did two applications back to back of drenching the plants with it. That was Sunday and Monday. Last night they got hit with Monterey BT again.
