Stoney grows Honey Fried Bananas in RDWC SCROG

@GrumpAzz , when you add balance to RO water does the ppm rise a little? i'm just wondering if maybe what i was seeing was the mystery nutes in my water being participated out.
Yessir. I'd have to find some notes but, off the top of my head, 250-300 ml adds about 50-80ppm to 50 gallons of RO.

It's not a hell of a lot and I'd say what you got there is pretty much in line with what I get out of it. I just use a bit more to get up into the 9s.

thanks man, good to know you see the same thing. not sure if this is the balance but i also noticed the solution looked a little cloudy at first, a day later and it was clear.

still looking okay today.. ph and ppm are the same, no change. we're having another heat wave late in summer here and my water temps are up slightly again but it won't last long. and i also have some better insulation coming tomorrow so i'll put that on and should help a little. i can see some new root growth on each one so they haven't quit on me...

I can't say for sure, but I've seen it cloud up slightly as I added it. Almost a milky color that dissipates quickly. That doesn't happen ever time, though, so I don't know what to say about it. I've assumed that's the silica before it dilutes down. Haven't had it last though.

Did it happen as you mixed or did it show up over a small amount of time?

i can remember rolling barrels of water through the woods one year... last time i did that!!! haha

i bet if you moved the crates right next to the barrel it would get even easier!!! hahaha

I moved them from beside the rain barrel because they weren’t getting as much sun. Too many tall bushes and a tree. Everything is a trade off.

Some very surprising sour notes on these, which was nice..........."tangy". Only about 1/2 the plants though.

i didn't notice it all at first but once i put the micros in they're dark and i noticed it. the next day it was totally clear and still is. not sure how long it stayed like that but i noticed it was there.

could have something to do with me not using RO..

yea i kinda figured you would have already if you could.. i thought just as i hit post.. and besides who keeps their rain barrel in the sun!!!!

its raining here right now. this is the break in temps we need. forecast looks perfect from here on out!!!

sweet! i wouldn't mind some buds to be sour!!!! mix em in the same doob for a sweet n sour melody!!!! i'm behind on your thread a few days and will catch up tonight!!

i wish these two HFB would have looked like the third one i have in soil. i'd still have them in soil if all three would have looked like this one...

my water temps have been spiking through the roof again!!! this damn heat, i've never had i summer like this in over twenty years. i'm just not prepared for it. i think i have a handle on it for now though. the past three of four days were around 76° though!!

so i put some new insulation on the buckets and pipes... no more pink panther, still got the pink panther ring tone on my phone though hahaha (just happens to be coincidence!!)

009.JPG

i also forgo to mention a couple days ago i added 25ml of rapid start... i saw roots forming so i figured they would benefit from it...

010.JPG

the brown roots are all thats left of the original soil roots i pulled through the net cup to start. the rapid start lowered my ph a little then i overshot the raise so now i'm at 5.9. i just left it there for now.

i can really see full advantage of starting from clones even more now. not just for uniformity but wow established plants really take off quick!!

Problems, I don’t see no stinking problems! 🤣

Looking soooo much better. 👊

Wow! Those roots really came on quick. It's fun watching you develop your hydro style. Super neat job on that insulation wrap. Sweet!
I agree, Bob. He's gone through the ringer trying to get it all worked out and it looks like he's coming out on top.

Good Job Stoney! Beauts for roots and the wrap job is 👌

Thanks man, things are still growing okay, they have a little ugly from the transplant but the newest growth seems to look good so onwards and upwards!!!!!

temps are still a degree or two higher than what i want but with cooler nights now i should be fine but i will need a chiller by next june.

we like no problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i get to move forward with normal typical growing problems and that i welcome.

thought of you tonight man, went grocery shopping and got some canadian cherries!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe

i'm really liking the roots man, i now am just seeing the power of rdwc, it's a day and night difference in growth compared to what i was seeing before. man i swear i can almost hear the roots growing right now!!! hahahaha

so a couple days in and the ph was diving deep again. i checked my air bubbles and no way it could be them so i looked into the solution more and found a reddit post from somebody that seemed to have the same results i was with it and she said listed part of a chart that said if the EC was over 1.4 then lower it. but if it was under 1.0ec then raise it.. this was the first time i ever heard this advice and she explained her details and it sounded very similar to mine so i checked and saw my ec was only 0.4. so two days ago i raised it to 1.1 and the h has been solid again. i think these established plants were eating way more than i anticipated and ate most of the good stuff the first few days then started to lighten up and look funny.

they seem to be liking the increased nutes... the roots just won't quit.. the right plant has better looking roots though. i topped both plants whe i first put them in. two days ago i topped those tops at the second node as per Granny law. so they must be growing because both of those branches are new and onto the third and fourth node already. well till i cut them off anyway! hehe

i also defoled some of the bigger thicker leaves in way, it opened up the side branching a lot better so i'm glad i did that. i'm kinda shocked that they grew this much in just a week, i thought they'd be shaking it off for at least that long. i haven't been watching the water level too closely right now with putting in ice packs every eight hours it looks fuller than what it is. maybe only a day or two of ice packs and i should be good to go. with no ice i'm sitting at 72F so not as bad as it was last week. maybe the heat helped the bennies and got the roots growing so well.

some pics.. no leaf curl!! ;hd

couple more days later and i think things are continuing to get better. the right plant seems to be recovering faster. although the left plant must have heard me talking about her roots and she said here hold my beer!!! haha

feelin pretty groovy here.....

007.JPG

EC and ph started to dive again so i brought it back up to 1.1 went another 20ppm and sitting at 530ppm total right now. i didn't have to raise the ph though, a couple hours of the richer solution and it came up to 5.8 all on it's own... clickin i guess!!!!!

turned the lights up to 50% a few days ago too.. running about 400 watts on them now.

Pretty crazy to see the root growth from the 12th to the 17th to today. Fuck yeah 🤙

gotta be growing two or three inches a day on the roots, i can see the soil stains come out in like rings. every once in a while i'll see a piece of perlite a few inches down in the nest and knew it wasn't there the day before!

i've been sneaking in goodies this whole time.. i started with a full dose of orca. then i added a full dose of rapid start and some enzymes. then a few days later i added King Crab bacteria, and then yesterday when i added the nutes i also put in a half dose of great white for the added trichoderma.

i put the great white in a jug and left it settle for while and then siphoned it off the top of the jug leaving the sediment behind. it seemed to work great and didn't show on the bottom of the rez afterwards.

Hell yes! My first 3 little roots to peak from the netpot grew nearly 2 inches yesterday as well.

Quite the cocktail there. My little ladies were just on RapidStart and CalMag until I got some roots. Then one top-dress of RapidStart after they were put into system.

I'm just running Grow nutes and Orca at the moment. My Fulvic has some weird stuff growing in it, so I haven't put any of that in yet. Debating a new bottle.

your clones are already looking great, they're gonna take off real soon!! they grow so much faster than seedlings as you already can see!!

oooh i got some of that maybe i should add some of that too!!! hahaha nah i didn't plan on putting all those things in but it just happened...

i gotta say guys it's much nicer posting photos when they look good!!!!!

hoping they get even better because now we're chillin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no leaks and it seems to be working.. its humming and lights up anyway!!! hahaha

@doublej I know this isn't the same model you got but i thought i'd mention the delta on temp was defaulted to five degrees. so i needs to go 5 degrees above set point to turn on.. i turned my delta setting down to one degree.

it dropped the temp three degrees in a couple hours.. could have been quicker but i just checked. set it for 70 and the probe says 69!!

How heavy are those Easter egg rocks so you're using?.... Do they float???? Asking for a friend;gr

heavy!! more than twice the weight. they're kiln fired so they're not like the light ones. they sink like a stone and can't be crushed.

twenty standard..

twenty trix...

Pretty heavy probably should check them out
Yeah they look a lot like the ones I started using too, just confetti flavored.

I really lole them for a few reasons... They don't absorb much water so they're easier to clean and reuse. I feel like the roots navigate through them a little quicker. Smaller grain fills in the gaps better, keeping light out of the res. Easier, more uniform fill around my gro-plugs. Esthetically pleasing.

But they get all over the place and will really wreck havoc on my poor electrician knees..

Oh just got done rubbing my logger knees when I read that...

Anyway if there heavy enough for my flood deal then I don't have anything against them I suppose

thats so fuckin badass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob's are cooler I think.., hahaha...

Pretty heavy probably should check them out

his are way cooler!!!!!

they're heavier than i ever expected. in fact with my six inch netpots they're way too heavy and was worried about the integrity of the lids i have and lifting them up all the time to look at the roots. i went back to my 4" netpots and they're not too heavy for those.. actually that amount is just right. not enough to cause a problem but heavy enough that it provides a better seal and holds the plant stronger. but beware if you're using a big 6" netcup...

oh and they happen to cost like twice as much because they sell them by weight not volume.. haha

this one is a tiny cheaper..

oh never never never kneel on one!!!! if i drop one i make sure i pick it up right away!! those other ones just crush when ya step on them.. not these!!!

on the flip side because they are heavier they don't fall out nearly as much. i've only dropped three or four in the actual grow area.. now outside my clumsy ass knocked the entire bowl over and i had to pick up every one of them off the floor!! don't do that either!!! hahaha

Gas on smash baby!!!!!!!!

chiller has been spot on and keeping the rez perfect. actually it makes the room temp and rh better as it's easier to control without water temp fluctuations.

they've been drinking a lot in the past three days, more than they ever have before, ducky's bill is under the lid already!!! hahaha

and of coarse i can't leave well enough alone and always gotta be fuckin with shit... i put my heater back in to make sure that wasn't my previous problem... i put it in there on friday, it's not plugged in or turned on but just set in place.... but i want to know for sure that i can have it in there before i actually need it and since it took a couple weeks to show problems before i figured no time like present!!!

010.JPG

i also added 25 ml of mr fulvic on friday night. ppms when up 10.. now sitting at 440 right now. ph has been pretty steady, a slight rise, up to 5.87 right now. again, i can't stop messin with stuff!!! hahaha

but no complaints or worries at the moment.. mostly excitement and fun with a little tiny bit of nervous. another 6 to 8 inches and i'll be able to do the squash with the screen!!! (i hope)

thanks for lookin in y'all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna be watching, it's something I might need in the playbook....

Not sure how long you've been fighting with water temp, but temp control is way I bought mine.

I would never attempt something like I'm getting ready to do without one... Here's the best part I have no clue what I'm doing 😎😬

Kool shit buddy...glad you showed me that bud.....thanks man 👊

i kept saying to myself no way it can stay this hot out, its gotta cool down.. it did eventually but my basement is 77 degrees by now. my rez sits right on the floor so thats what my water temp is without anything. so with the freezer packs i would drift from 77 to 72 back and forth everyday.

now it's rocking at 68.9 steady eddie!!!!! the chiller doesn't run much at all, maybe once every half hour or forty minutes and when it runs it only runs for about ten seconds or so and shuts off.

I put an elbow at the end of the output and it makes the water in my rez like a whirlpool and keeps it circulated really good. i'm so glad i went overkill on the size and i think you will too.

me either i said YOLO why not... it's a lot of fun man. and i'm hoping it makes me a better rounded grower from it.

Hopefully this week, would be nice. Today's my last day fishing for a couple daze.

Still have 6 plants left to cut, they get cut this week then I'll start laying all out.
