Stoney's Soil vs Hydro Apple Fritter Auto show

Man what a mess. I hope to never be visited by mites. I imagine it'll happen some day, maybe, but my fingers will forever be crossed 🤞

-------

Man I had so much trouble with my new system. I added 10-15 gallons to the total volume. That threw off my learned guesstimations. Plus... I adjust in the control bucket, as you should, but it initially mixes with that 5 gallons and is slowly taken up and distributed to the plants. My probe sits in the control bucket so it will read quite a bit high/low for a while. I'm sure there's some math involved after plenty of trials and adjustments that I can figure out a pretty close mL estimate, but I'm sometimes making those adjustments in a hurry. So it's become a dribble for a small adjustment and a dribble dribble for a larger one.

Where all that was headed... I now make my adjustments and let it set until it settles, wherever that may be.

You may have noticed already but, just in case, Down is WAY more concentrated than Up. A little goes a LONG way with the Down.

i hope ya never do... some never get them! this is my fourth or fifth time now and by far my worst and most annoying!

haha i know just what you're talking about!!!

i need to force myself to do this more often. in my head i keep relating it to spray painting.. i always spray too much too fast and screw it up, i do the same with my dribbles.

yeah this still throws me off now and then... i guess if i look at it the more i mess it up the more practice i get at the amounts!!! ;rfl

Wait til you straight up grab the wrong bottle...

You need to bring it up a bit so, normally, you'd add quite a bit of UP, but this time you grabbed the DOWN... added quite a bit... and tanked the already low pH. That's been me. A couple times now.

Just the other day I grabbed the wrong bottle of nutes and used it.

Wasn’t feeling well, woke up just in time for lights on. Scrambled to get the feed mix done. All the bottles are the same and in a row. Somehow just used the wrong one.

Don’t think it was a total disaster but definitely need to slow down an double check before mixing. 🤦

i've already ran that scenario in my head... hoping it doesn't happen but probably will at some point... so far the only thing keeping me in check is two different sized bottles so they feel different. and up goes on the top shelf and down goes on the bottom shelf!! it's still a ticking time bomb!!! :p

yeah, bug bomb, then bleached all the walls and floors and thought i had it clean and clear but then later learned they were probably in the lumber and i think my infestation is much worse than i ever thought. this is the first time they are beating me and freaking me out a little. i'm just glad they are staying to this one cabinet.

.
.

part of my ph issue is also self inflicted some times.. i over shoot once in awhile and have to add the other to balance out my heavy adjustment. so compound the ping ponging and then my alkalinity screw ups on top and it just makes for doh! moments!!! and then i'm off on my nute ratios with extra potassium again before i know it! i'll learn sooner or later!!! i hope! hehe

IDK if you might be dealing with a bit more of a super mite than me but what I've dealt with are ez to wipe out but they will persist if the eggs are not dealt with.

A couple days after setting off my pyrethrin bomb I followed up with Jungle Rain spraying it on both sides of the leaves.
I actually cut Jungle Rain about 75%JR and 25% with water to make it go further and new growth can be sensitive to it so I dilute it.
Spray until the plant is saturated and the JR is running off the leaves.
Let the JR dry, takes maybe an hour or so, then follow up with a spray down of clean water.

JR is a blend of oils and soap. Mainly castile soap which is pretty much olive oil, then there's vegetable oil, and citrus oils in there.
When these soaps and oils coat the eggs and dries it pretty much suffocates the eggs.
The eggs dry up and begin to break apart so a few days after the washing you'll see busted up eggs underneath infested leaves but no new mites roaming around. I use a gnarly pair of reading glasses to see this since I hate scopes and loops and 2.50 readers are like having a scope strapped to my face.
This remedy totally wiped out my infestation inside of one week. Haven't seen any bugs since. The damage they caused is still visible but no new damage and no new crawlers.

Then after the grow treat that wood with dormant oil or mineral oil and let it dry which is my next step after harvest.

let the bidding begin!!! ;sh

would you happen to have a ph or ec sensor for that? i guess i should ask first, is t possible to add a ph and ec sensor to that to have all three? temp isn't as important to me i already have control and a display for that.

thanks man, i think i just have two spotted ones. i'll try to get a photo if i see any more. my last inspection a couple days ago i only saw two eggs and i smooshed em.. i had some capt jacks on the shelf from years ago and decided to give it a try. i sprayed, waited three days and sprayed again yesterday. i have a pyrethrin bomb on the shelf waiting.. i won't go broke buying a $20 bottle of jungle rain so i'll introduce it on thursday. thanks for the strength and application tips!!!! (been trying to find an animated pair of tighty whities emoji, but sadly no luck!) haha

i was thinking maybe a boat or submarine, but nope got me a ducky!! .. maybe i should have gotten a toy aquaman!!! :D shhh.. don't tell him i said that.. he'll stop helping with my nutrient solution!! AM has been a great help with getting my ingredients sorted and dosages and tons of great info on how to learn it going forward myself the right way. i have zero hydro habits right now so if i never pick up any bad habits i'll only know the correct way! the easy part on me is most of you helping me all seem to agree on most things, of coarse not every single thing but shit who does with anything!

i feel as prepared as i possible can be at this point and just can't wait for their heads to pop up!! i haven't looked yet today soooo...

Oh man that is a collection of all kinds of awesome hydration, for me and plants!!! you got my tail wagging for sure my man!!

i don't need any of those 4" inch air stones though, i have a few here.. one even has a ring of led's around it!!!! :ROFLMAO:

that is a good tip man, it's every bit of $30 w/tax. might be yet another thing i add to the prime sale list!! batteries, band-aids, and floranova!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

ya know when i first opened the bottle i spilled a little on the floor, i went oooo don't get this on your clothes!!!! i already have tiny dots sprayed on the lid already.. sloppy sloppy!! it's weird though once it's mixed with water it makes the water look like mud, then a little while longer it lightens up and looks lighter than iced tea right now. in the ducky pic you can even see the pvc pipe through it, and my pipes are grey not white. all i had on hand was pvc conduit. same material and dimension only it's made to be light proof. thats what it says on the side of the pipe anyway 🤷‍♂️ i'm no expert on pvc.

.

ya know i've had this cheapo ph pen for so many years now and i feel it's reliable. i got that probe kit and calibrated it with the two solutions, it's manual with a screw. and it was off by only 0.4!! i swear the drop solution i got with the GH up/down is what's throwing me off so bad. my dip strips are kinda close, it's hard to tell with those sometimes. and to be honest my strips are from when i worked in the semi conductor mfg stuff like 20 years old now i bet but they seem to be accurate with the pen and calibrating solutions. i have another set of solution test from a master pond tester but it is for a very broad test and only has five colors on it.

you're right i need to just pick the pen i trust and roll with it. it's why i bought a good one, i figured it was more important to know my ph more accurately than my nutrient level at this point. plus i was very surprised with my tds meters when i put in the solution, both were spot on and never needed any calibration. plus there are so many variable that will determine my nutrient needs that the number will probably just be a number for me not others. but PH is ph so i want to know as accurate as i can.

speaking of the tofu torching, i wish Anthem was still around to see this.. he and i discussed me trying a dwc setup and it would be cool for him to see. i know he would have done everything he could to make sure the hydro plants lapped the soil ones, he was competitive thats for sure!!

ya know i've shot up and set fire to plants that pissed me off, how come i never thought of an electronic meter??? great idea man!!!
i never did et to break this bad boy in yet...

we got this oldie but goodie..
ya know, when you get that male plant and it really pissed ya off....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
