I have some plants inside under good lights awaiting to go into the greenhouse. The greenhouse has supplemental lighting. Just six small leds like fifty watts each or something. The lights are just to trick them to stay in veg. And I have propane heater.

My question is should I keep these inside under lights in the tent until later like May/June? Or should I plant them now? I’m just wondering would they do better inside the tent or outside early season under the sun? I know the ground temps are not warm yet.

I feel as long as the ambient temps are high enough they should be fine. As long as you keep them in pots and elevated off the ground until the ground is warmer I don't see why they wouldn't survive in a heated greenhouse

I would like to get them in the ground if they go out early. I have a second year living soil grow. I have ten big holes filled with last years living soil and I added a bunch of goat turds, some oyster flower, gypsum and craft blend. I’ve been watering the soil for about three weeks to get the microbes rolling. Do you think with the propane heat it would warm up the ground temps in the green house?

I’m in Central Oregon.
Michigan here. It's been mild here this year. I also have supplemental lighting in my greenhouse. Despite that, I'll be inside until mid May. At that time, night time temps should be consistently in the upper 50's to 60's if the weather continues the way it has so far.

P.S. Take the temperature of your soil. Ideal soil temp is in the low 70's. That should be a key indicator as to when you can start outside.

I'm running some autoflowers from Greenpoint Seeds this year so I'm not planning on doing anything extra. In the past, I would put them outside in early June after vegging under 16 hrs of light.

Edit: I just realized that I never mentioned why I'll be running autos outdoors in May ... Last year when I ran my autoflowers, I ran an early and late crop. First round was 11 plants and they finished by early July. The second group, 12 plants went outside over the 4th of July weekend. That group finished in early Sept.

I got 3 outside at the moment in Mo...they are doing ok....wind beating them up though and I've not watered them very goodIMG_20240415_190546633_HDR.jpg

These plants were dealing with some off pH or lockout when I put them outside hoping nature would balance them out easier. So not sure how they'll go

I’m in central California, I’m thinking early may for outdoor plants, I’m a little concerned that it might be too soon here.

Might wait until nighttime temps are above 50. I’m hoping that they will be closer to 60 by May.

Once it gets warm here, it’ll stay that way for about 6 months. Very few nights below 70.

My problem is keeping them hydrated enough.

Ever try "water crystals" ? I used to use them outdoor for guerilla grows on plants I had a hard time getting to. They are like silica beads that soak up and retain water and keep ground a little moist. I would soak like a couple milk jugs full of them and head out planting and just bury a couple cups at the bottom of the hole throw a little dirt over them then plop the plant down on top of that. Worked pretty well.

I know you do the back and forth trips between spots may be worth a try 🤷🏻‍♂️
