I've been using far red lights for a few years now off and on and I've learned how to manipulate my plants growth with them at different stages in their life.

I only use them for 15 min at lights out, once when they are about 10 days old for 1 week only and it jumps them up out of the solo cups triple what they'd normally grow in a week. With larger leaves and a thicker stalk. I have to stop it after a week or they get too tall.

I then use them again for the first week after 12/12 to bump them again to expose more of the plant with more space between the nodes. Again I have to shut them off after 1 week.

I'm now using them again since week 5 after they stopped stretching and its helping swell and add bulk & color to my plants approaching week 10. I'm also getting more frost on my plants than ever before and I've found some support for my findings at.

Although some of this maybe strain related the reds have certainly enhanced my plants growth.

Does anyone else use them on a regular basis? I'd be interested in your hrs of use, do you use them full time or 15 min at lights out and? on?

Plants look great PC.

Not ready to dive into lighting changes/additions yet but I know you’re on to something.

Since I use clones a lot I usually see the same plant grown three or more times over a year. Even changes with my normal lights can make a difference in how they stretch and how thick they get.

Do you notice any difference in how thick the stalk gets when using the far reds?

Yes I believe they get larger, I'm only using 15 min at lights out and it makes a huge difference. I'd like to see if anyone uses them longer than 15 min, when and what difference its made. I'm wonder about the late stages of flower if reds on full time with the reg lights,. If 15 min has and effect 12hrs should do something but I don't want large puffy buds. So far just 15 min is ample.

I run the reds for 15 minutes at lights out . I start this when plants go into flowering tent. I grow only autos. It does make my plants stretch .View attachment 88950
I ran them a few times at 15 min on before and aft lights out in flower and turned up my lights to 13 on 11 off then to 14 on 10 off near the end trying to finish faster but that didn't seem to work as well for me, Plants still went 10-11 weeks.

I can see them helping you with auto's to give them more height & I think it helps widen the leaves. I get some monster leaves now using the reds.

You could try it and if you notice any adverse affects put a stop to it.
I'm at 9.5 weeks and I've been using them for 15 min aft lights out since week 5. I'll leave as is for this run but next time I may see what it does, just after they stretch. They're hard to hold down as is when they can jump 6" in a day or 2

It doesnt hurt that you have your nute program dialed in with the autopots.
I think its just following the directions on the GH labels, I haven't looked in a while but I start light work up to where GH says my max should be then start tapering off as per that graph I keep pushing and GH recommendations..

Since I started using Floraliciuos Plus in Veg then switching to Diamond Nectar in the Ap's my plants have been healthier overall. I think the stuff helps break down the nutes into available ions for the plants. It may all be a mental condition I have and because I buy it it must be good stuff and I'm caught in a loop but otherwise I think its good sht.lol......& Epsom Salts. a wonder salt 1 tsp/gal

I use floraliciuos plus and have a bottle of diamond nectar that i never used. When do you switch to diamond nectar i will give that a whirl

My bottle of floralicious is nearly empty and i dont think i will get another seems they removed the humic and fulvic from it
Its expensive for what it is & smells like sht but it seems to help them with color especially. I've a 1/2 bottle and a brand new one still sealed. I was using it regularly in soil but now 1/2 my grow cycle is in the Autopots so I'm only using it in veg for 1-2 feeds then I'm into the AP's so this shts going to last me forever. I thought of switching to Mr. Fulvic but I'm stuck with GH stuff and I'm a big believer in getting all of my nutes from 1 company that are designed to work together.

Takes nice picture with reds on. Happy looking garden
I have 3 of them in there 2 glow 40's from Spiderfarmer and a puck from Rapid led that is supposed to be good for a 3x3. I use another far red puck in my veg tent. A bunch of years ago I bought 4 -4ft red fluorescent off amz cheap for about $40 to use as side lighting but that failed so I used 1 in my veg closet for a while until I noticed too much stretching and shut it down. They are just pink lights and even they have a stretching effect on my plants. I don't think there's any Far in them its just pink light.

I need another tent to play in, I need my harvests so I don't want to fk with success but it would be nice to experiment. I'd like to run the REDs full time on a plant and if it stretches then so be it just tie her down and keep tying here down. I love what reds do to the leaves as well, I get these monster leaves now and they look so pretty, I've grown attached to my reds....lolWedding Cake leaf.JPG

i'm going to be running some reds just like you guys suggest, 15 min before and after lights on.
i have some cheap ones that i'll prolly use one more run and toss.. some LEDs are burned out/not coming on

what's the recommended far red light for a 2 plant site 4'x2' by you guys?

I have the Spiderfarmer Glow 40's but after looking on the Canadian web sites they are sold out., I also bought 3 of these far red pucks from Rapid Led, 1 puck covers a 3x3, I bought 3 for my 5x5. If you order from Rapid get the power supply and lens offered for them at $5 it gives better coverage with the lens on1738935856684.png

Hey, do you use any filters between your res and the trays in your autopots? I'd like a filter other than the golf filter in the tank. I'm getting some grit in my lines I'd like to filter out. Indoorgrower has what I want but not in the 9mm blue line size They have a 16mm-inline filter but it won't fit. Any solutions or method you use1738941550066.png

I can answer what running 660nm + 730nm reds will do if they are run the whole 12hrs of the flower cycle. My plants did stretch, but they stopped stretching once I was through early flower. They seemed to produce more bud sites. I did have to tie down my plants a bit more than usual but they didn't over-fill the space. I'm on my second run now utilizing the reds. My plants are still in veg. I have the timer set to turn them on 15 minutes before lights turn on. Then they run 15 minutes into the regular light cycle before shutting off again. They turn on again 15 minutes before lights off and then I have the reds set to turn off 15 minutes after the rest of my lights turn off. I've only run them 1 day so far during veg. I'll have more to report on this in a couple of weeks.

The 16mm-9mm inline filter allows easy connection to 16mm pipe. The filter then reduces to 9mm (aquavalve 5.0 tubing size) allowing easy connection to any AutoPot Watering Systems of between 1 and 6 modules. The fitting also has an internal filter that can be accessed with ease ensuring cleaning is made simple.

I've run them for 1 week 15 min after lights out on 2 week old sprouts then again at flip for 1 week then after 5 weeks, just after lights out and its enough to get a lot of stretching & leaf boost. I ran them through flower for 15 min before lights out to 15 min aft lights out but after 4 weeks I was up into the lights and had to shut them off. What ever it does it certainly cause no harm and all I see are benefits, save for a bit too much stretching1738952850735.png

16mm is close to half inch 9mm close to quarter inch. You would have to get small lenght of 16mm tubing to run from fitting to 16mm side of filter

Yes that would work with 16mm - 9mm hose line I'd also need something 16mm/1/2" from the reservoir to the adapter. If I could come out of my res with a 16mm top hat grommet to the filter with a 1/2" / 16mm line I could use that adapter to connect the 9mm line

I made up another order from indoorfarmer. I ordered a 16mm filter, some 16mm hose, a 16mm top hat grommet,16mm shut off valve 3 more air bases, more Grove bags & humidity pack & what ever else to get a $125 free shipping order1739021811267.png

That will do it. will still need to reduce 16mm to 9mm coming off filter to hook up feed lines. A minor detail

I would still like the golf filter as the first filter inline but they don't seem to make them for 16mm/1/2" line. I can probably build up the 9mm line with tape then hose clamp or tie wrap it tight but I'd rather have one that fits properly, sometimes my fixes fail and cause leaks.

My new Mars light is supposed to arrive today, It was supposed to arrive yesterday, Fedex tracking had in on the truck out for delivery, another company, Dragonfly notified me today they had it on the truck and it will arrive today.

Do u like the glows better or are the pucks just as good? What would you suggest for a 5x5? I understand u r still experimenting, but that's way further than where I'm at

Zip ties or pipe clamps work best if you find a pipe to insert in the hose to prevent collapse.
They don't have to fit perfect you can wrap it with tape or a piece of cut hose.

The glows are a bit better for size of coverage. I used 3 pucks in my 5x5 & I still needed another puck before I bought the Glow 40's. I'm still using 1 puck + the glow40's in my 5x5 but I'm only using my tent as a 4x5 for coverage. the front foot has my heater and humidifier.SF had Glow 80's but I'm not seeing any of the reds available from them in Canada now. Rapid Led has some interesting lights. If you wanted to build a light they have a lot of options to choose from.I've been looking at their Royal Blue puck for veg to play with but unsure of what I'd get from them

Yes, I have some pipe the just might fit. I didn't think of that, nice tip, thanks. It may help me with another connection I have hose pipe - hose pipe, jammed in together with tape holding it poorly.I have pipe, I keep busting the small hose clamps by turning them just 1 more time to tighten & sprong fk, they just don't work well after that.

Im pretty sure i have some of those fittings to join hoses if you cant find any let me no. The same size as picture half inch to quarter inch.

Shrink wrap might help if the tube can take it or be protected until done. Glue type if water proof is a worry. 🤷‍♂️
